    I bought a used sw22 for $300 because I wanted it for hunting small game. The more I keep shooting it the more I love it. Honestly I thought I would NEVER own or let alone enjoy a 22LR pistol. Glad I waited for years for a reliable 22LR to own.

    Picked mine up on Friday. 350+ rounds no issues, take down screw very tight, nothing loose, or loosened during range time. sights are great, and quick to make minor adjustments. As for the magazine disconnect, not an issue on a target pistol, especially a 22lr. I agree on the grips as they fit my hand great, controls are easy to reach. Really like this pistol. Great review.

    Great review, thanks. I got one about a month ago, very happy with it, same purchasing decision, was looking at a Ruger with a target barrel, but saw the disassembly process, glad S&W made this, they did a fine job.

      +sootch00, that is good news. I despise those things...especially on the P35. I wonder if it will increase the trigger quality in the same way as it does on the P35?

    I can't understand why so many people whine about how difficult the Ruger semi autos are to disassemble and reassemble. I think they are some of the most intuitive guns around to asssemble and disassemble. If you can't figure one of those guns out you should leave your maintenance to some one else.

    Just got Victory and it is great so far. My only experience with .22 rimfires was 50 yrs ago with a cheap bolt rifle (also a blast to shoot). I've read conflicting arguments about how to best maintain a targeting pistol -- never clean the barrel; clean it but only with a nylon brush and mild cleaner/oil; scour it with a bronze brush and aggressive lead/copper dissolving solvents -- and even the S&W manual isn't much help. So I come to you, Knower of All Things .22 Targeting and ask for your best tips and secrets on cleaning this fine piece of machinery. Thx.

    I agree with Sootch. Why waste the time, money, and energy making a video about a gun that one does not like, just so that in the end of the video you can say "It sucks. Don't buy it.". It makes much more sense to review and showcase guns that are excellent or at least guns that the reviewer actually likes. Thanks for the video, Sootch.

  • @B_R_
    @B_R_ 3 роки тому +2

    Great review as always.
    The part you're calling the slide doesn't move and is actually not a slide.
    It's a housing that's attached to the barrel, which is attached to the frame.
    The bolt moves, but this pistol doesn't have a slide.
    Like you mentioned, as long as you keep the takedown and barrel screws tightened, it will never lose zero with optics or irons.

I have a small Bushnell red dot on my 10/22 that would be perfect for this nail driver. Time to dust off the 22 ammo bucket, haven't plinked in awhile. I've had mine since mid February and I just love it. Triple-K holsters out of Fredericksburg Texas is making custom leather holsters for this little gem. They make some very good Cowboy Action leather goods and I'll be getting mine for the Victory in late March or April. I've seen the videos on how to remove the magazine disconnect. When you do the video, don't forget to show how to re-install if that would be possible. Thanks for all the great videos.

    Just FYI, I have had 2 Victory pistols. First one in early 2021 was a jamomatic and the rifling was bored off center.
    S&W worked on it. Functioned pretty well, but not accurate, even with a new barrel. Sold at a considerable loss.
    The concept of the pistol and the many marvelous reviews everywhere, convinced me to try again 11/2022, but not before going to a store with a return policy!!
    The pistol was a jamomatic, extraction, ejection, stove pipes double feeds, bent hollow points nearly in two, light firing pin strikes, magazines did not feed, it was accurate, but I knew that barrel would go with a new throat. Returned. Great Heavens. I used 7 types of quality ammunition on the 2nd one. Different types of CCI, Browning, Federal, and some Golden Bullets.
    Before buying, check the S&W official site and the threads on the Victory. Very informative.

    good video Sootch. Looks like a fine pistol, but since the controls are not ambi, it's not for me being that I'm left handed. However, I recommend you check out the S&W M&P22 pistol as well! It too is a great gun with M&P ergos, ambi controls, threaded barrel, great trigger, and 12 round mag capacity. Also highly accurate, fun to shoot and very reliable too! I've had one for 3 years now and it's been superb! Highly recommended!

  • @jtdundee
    @jtdundee 8 років тому +1

    Just picked mine up yesterday and wanted to clean and lube it before using... but the takedown bolt was too tight.
    I twisted the longer 1/8" hex wrench that I had in the tool box, I put a vice grips wrench on the supplied hex wrench but that didn't grip enough and just came off. Took the pistol to my mechanic and his hex wrench bent. He took it next door to the machine shop and their hex wrench twisted. We finally put the pistol in a vise and used an electric heat gun on high for probably... oh... at least three minutes. Maybe five, being careful to shield the plastic parts.
    Tried it once more and with a mighty push we heard a "crack" and the bolt broke free.
    After the pistol cooled for about 15 minutes I still needed to go outside and grab a handful of snow to cool down the barrel so we could touch it. We found traces of red on the threads and the barrel where it made contact with the frame. I can't say it was red loctite from the factory but I can assure you it was a red thread locker of some sort. When I reassemble it I will use a socket with a 1/8" hex head on a torque wrench and set it to 40 inch pounds to see if it stays tight. If not, then we try the alternatives.
    So..... if at first you don't succeed - heat heat heat. Then push!

      @jtdundee 8 років тому

      To be fair: it's been a week now and using both the OEM Williams fiber optic sight and an inexpensive red dot on the plastic picatinny rail, it is the most accurate handgun I have ever shot. Don't see the need yet to consider another barrel or trigger, especially after adjusting the trigger screw. Every brand of ammo I tried worked - from super high velocity to subsonic and pistol match. And the take down bolt holds tight without coming loose. Verdict? Well done.

    I'm getting nothing but jams on this pistol. I strip it down and clean it and return to the range with nothing but trouble. Can't even get through one magazine without a jam. I only use CCI mini mags.

    From watching other videos, an easy fix for the disassembly screw from loosening is a lock washer

    Great video. One thing though. If you don't like something, you should be reviewing it also. How are gun owners, especially the new ones, supposed to know what's good for not if you don't give them a heads up?

    I've had my SW22 for about a month now. The screw that holds the rear sight on mine is hex head, not torx. It is smaller than the take down,. and I think they should include that wrench as well, since they include the rail.

    Just got my SW22 back from S&W for repair. The trigger hung up and could not fire it. I tried to remove the takedown allen screw. It was so tight that I rounded off the supplied allen wrench. S&W Customer Service was great, paid shipping to and from the factory. I have not tried to remove the allen screw yet.

    What is so bad about a magazine disconnect? It doesn't affect the trigger pull. I think it is a great idea for the newbies, who unload a pistol by dropping the magazine. People get killed that way.
    BTW, that's not the firing pin. lol

      You make a good point 999. But also keep in mind that people who only have weapons with a magazine safety may shoot themselves when using a friends weapon without the safety. The three major rules of safety are: #1: Every weapon is to be considered loaded until you have personally checked it. And if you leave it unattended with others around when you come back check it again. #2: Don't point a loaded gun at anything or person you don't want to shoot. #3: Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. If you follow these rules a magazine safety isn't necessary. And it's often convienent to just drop one round in the chamber without any other hassle.

    I don’t like the Alan screw disassembly screw because eventually it will strip out after 5 years if your aren’t really careful. It needs a beretta 92 style button + lever takedown. The Ruger mark IV is light years ahead of this design.

    How about a review of where you can actually find .22 ammo, it's still very hard to find in Ga.

      ***** There are only two barrels at this time that I know of. I'll be doing a barrel installation vid when it comes in. Hope they come out with some nice grips too.
