If I can't find something to laugh at every day and to learn, I'm dead.
No intelligent person should agree with someone 100% of the time, so even when I don't like or agree with what he says, I respect him because he is not about following a "party line" of the Left or the Right and calls out the BS of both when he sees fit. Its about thinking for yourself, a rare commodity these days.
I don't care what jokes his guys wrote for him, I just want Bill to stop touching his fly all the time, it's embarrassing.
Maher still remains partisan to Democrats as he confirmed saying the GOP alarms him. Although he’s experienced an epiphany in 2020 due to the woke mob actions, Bill will always favor the left vs being “alarmed” by them too.
I'm wondering how many followed the leader on that BS shot they were pushing a couple years ago.

Reminds me of the time Maher got really aggressive towards Jeff Ross on his podcast when Ross told him he didn't want to get high with a 68-year-old lifetime bachelor
I can list the reasons why I don't like Maher. I watch him because he can say what the right is thinking regardless if what they think is true in a few sentences. I don't want to watch 20 hours of fox news a week to figure that out on my own. He also has a bunch of often older guests that also have opinions i disagree with, but it gets me out of my bubble without it becoming something I need to spend several hours a week on.

However the thing that keeps him in the “good” graces (for now) is that he has some/many interesting guests on his shows and gets the conversation into places you can’t always get with many comedy and/or opinionated and/or straight news programming!!!

Bill doesn't have a super power, he just meets the barest minimum threshold IQ for being able to participate in human conversation. Maher has a know it all attitude that rubs me the wrong way, but that line explains modern politics clearly.

The main problem with Maher is that he doesn't respect young people. I find it hilarious that his criticism of the left is that they complain too much, essentially, while the right is 'alarming' and straight up criminal. But yeah, people speaking out against a war they're not actively participating in is comparable to supporting politicians that are in bed with Russia-brilliant takes, Bill.

In a country of 300 million, we hear from Bill Maher more often than we heard from Christ, Einstein, and Elvis.

I believe that he has made real progress in putting himself in the shoes of both of America's political parties.
I'm not tribal . My positions on issues guide me . If republicans suddenly believed in climate change, a woman's right to choose, sensible gun laws etc...I'd be open to voting for them. But they will never change on these issues because that is what their party is based on now. And the irony is many of them don't even care about abortion , many of them believe in climate change and want sensible gun laws but they won't say it cause they are afraid of someone primarying them
Bill is here for all of us and we're better for tuning in and taking a dose of sanity in this mad world.

When Maher got cancelled all those years ago, I defended his right to expression even though I disagreed with what he said. But for him to say, "Don't be tribal" is beyond ironic. He pandered to one side almost without exception.

He's increasingly out-of-touch in his L.A. bubble (and his pothead interviews on his youtube show are a mistake for his credibility) but Bill has good guests and the best political opinion show currently going, so kudos to him for that (and the best running joke on Trump's hand-job campaign rally dance :)

I've never been a big fan of Maher, but I agree he speaks for the "vast middle." The reason I know is because I agree with him about half the time. He claims to be liberal, but he's more moderate than he would admit. We need more voices like his, and we need far more people who are balanced enough to see both sides of issues as he does. The polarization of the country is horrible and has led to Trump and Biden....we can do better.

No one is right or wrong all the time. If you cant debate on the facts and face people you disagree with in a professional manner then you are part of the problem.

I'm pretty conservative but believe Bill is one of the only voices of sanity left in the political media. His quote that I repeat regularly continues to be true today - "If you do goofy s***, regardless of what side you're on, I'm going to make fun of you". Bill Maher complained that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert promoted a "false sense of equivalency between the left and right" because their "Rally to Restore Sanity" occasionally mocked ONE liberal commentor (Keith Olbermann) amidst all the conservatives they mocked. In other words, Maher thought those two were too balanced and too friendly to conservatives.
I am NOT interested in what Bill Maher has to say.
Ironic because nowadays it seems like Maher is the one who wants to "restore sanity" whilst Stewart has gone off the deep end.
It is fascinating to observe how individuals from different nations have the ability to establish their own autonomous nation. It is worth noting that the population of Caucasian individuals tends to be relatively lower in the southern regions.
Good report. I'd politely and respectfully disagree about your final comment. I can't help but to be a little cynical about politics these days, (really, who isn't?) but I've been trying to learn about it and have learned a lot (adds to my cynicism). Not sure I understand what you mean, Bill - your shows are often so refreshing. How could you possibly not be? 🙂
"They're not the monsters we think they are." Many conservatives come on his show and put on an act in order to play to his audience, then the second they leave they go back to their fiery, divisive rhetoric. The worst actor of them all is Mike Huckabee.

I used to hate bill Mayer in the 90’s and early 2ks, but I e grown to respect much of his observations. I think he truly does represent the middle area that so many people fit into.
That middle is artificial based on people being disinformed. 100% of moderate politicians are corrupt & take bribes to do the bidding of their donors. That says a lot IMO.
I agree. People give way too much credit to Jon Stewart for being "neutral" and "wise". Bill maher does not follow the tribal orthodoxy, Jon Stewart does.

One of the few liberals I like and respect. Good head on his shoulders. There are plenty of ills to ridicule on both sides of the aisle.
