Beautiful control of descent path with those subtle adjustments to manifold pressure. The Helio responds to finesse in throttle control as no other. So light in pitch and beautifully balanced to speed and drag conversion on the approach. It remains as #1 on my list of rewarding bush aircraft to learn and master
All flying, be it bush, military, airline or just pottering in the family 4 seater, requires knowledge and skill to be safe. That comes with practice. I admire bush pilots anywhere for their skill in using aeroplanes in unusual ways with high degrees of stick and rudder skills. Equally I admire a well trained airline crew following good IFR procedures to keep a transportation system running safely. Both operations require a high degree of training and on going currency. It's not a competition!
Gotta fly EVERY day. Lose the edge if you don’t. WWII pilots spent hours each day. Back in the late 1970s to get a commercial ticket one of the maneuvers required was to pull the power directly over the airport at something like 5000ft above the airport….then spiral down and put it on the numbers. I flew out of Foxfield in high desert of Mojave with nasty crosswinds and turbulence in the summer. I took my check ride in July. It was easy to do if I flew a couple hours each day..right on the numbers. But if I skipped one day ….I lost my touch.
I'm completely mystified by your question? Ok if you want to be pedantic I meant crews who follow IFR procedures well as opposed to some crews who don't follow IFR procedures correctly..Break minimums, carry insufficient fuel loads for the weather forecast, don't track the aids accurately. They are out there. But thanks for your lesson on grammar...I'm sure everyone who read my post needed your input into it.
Would suck if they hit a big rock on landing and were stuck 500 miles from anywhere! Makes me wonder what they were hoping to find out here, besides beautiful scenery? Maybe he just wanted to show how it's done?
Now the individual who brings it in like a C185 is going to scare the tar out of themselves, possibly to the point of being forever concerned with the health of their spine after dropping the Helio from 15 feet up and the resulting KAAWHOOOOMP !
@MrUrmother22 you need to learn your airplanes better...Heli Courier is perhaps the best STOL airframe ever built in terms of performance/STOL/CG loads
You can't just land a plane any where you like. At least not here in Missouri. We got a law. How do we know you ain't carrying nuclear weapons, illegal immigrants, terrorists or a couple of joints? Yeah, yeah! I don't like freedom...not on my land...not in the skies!
No, just being sarcastic...and realistic. Seriously, you would never have the freedom to land a plane on Missouri's creek beds, rivers and such. We got a law. Highway Patrol (you'd think - pertains to highway...No! they where the revenue is!) fucks with everybody on rivers, lakes, creeks and they are looking for dope smokers and drunks - 2 beers - like you! Aw...it's just a ticket for $300 - $5000 bucks! How you pay? Cash, debit or a couple months in jail?
Well you gonna be a Missourian real quick! Ya see Jim, we have lots of prison cells that need filling. Like Motel 7. So fly your plane, we shoot it down, plant WEED in it, and you go to a Motel 7! Got it? (You cain't do nuttin' about it - your tax dollars put you in jail!)

AWESOME!!! That's a pilot that knows his equipment inside and out and is well aware of it's capabilities and limits. Pure AWESOME!!!
Never too proud to learn a thing or two from one of these guys - and think of the fishing...
Cool landing and video. These guys must really know the area.
Grizzly bear says, "Hey bitch, that's my fishing spot!!"
Grizzly Bear says "there's my lunch being dropped off by that nice pilot again - that's 4 tourists this week"..........

The comments are from 7 years ago = UA-cam brought you here early
How do you make mo eh with a job flying bush? I k ow moving people and things but what are requirements and how do you find operations?
good IFR procedures such as what? Correct/maintain altitude? Departure/arrival procedures without instructions from ATC? What are bad IFR procedures?
Got Rocks?... No, just really big Stones!😎✌🏼
Beautiful area!
...and then did Tiki ask, "Okaaaay, so now how are we gonna get outta here?"
Beautiful scenery!

That's an awesome job of piloting!
Why have a helecopter when you could have a superucb?
Nice seat of the pants flying.
Id love to fly in Alaska
Is this in the AKA Alaska wilderness
Never be able to do that in my c177rg.
Very Nice!!!
Nice, what year and model of Helio courier?

Must be a Helio
@DanOblacksmith True, but I think anyone who deals with the Los Angeles class Bravo airspace could say the same of bush pilots.
@DanOblacksmith
except for the ones who are in Canada Russia Africa and South America..
I saw the slats...what was that?
How the heck did he manage to take off? There's no runway!
The video starts at 1:30

Which one? Salmon fishing or pee?
Felt real time.
wow, rough; keep it short , holy. ( no bump rocks ) : ]
No problems. Do you know about "bush pilots" in Brazil, search: aviação de garimpo, itaituba
Helio courier is an airplane. I did not say helli, mabey you thought I said helicopter. I gather that this is not your plane.

boboala1 The State you live in doesn't govern flying. FAA does.
