- Hiking in the Inyo National Forest in Lone Pine California along the Cottonwood Lakes Loop trail to Cottonwood Lakes #1. Located about 4 hours from Los Angeles and just East of Sequioa National Park, Lone Pine is the portal to Mt. Whitney and the southern section of the Eastern Sierras. The trail to the first lake is around 5.3 miles each way with lots of options for longer hikes, or backpacking trips.

What's your favorite hike in California that you've done, or want to do?
Favorite hike would be Yosemite Falls. One that I want to do is Twenty Lakes Basin from the Saddlebag Lake trailhead.
I've actually wanted to do the Cottonwood Lakes trail too, but to get to Mount Langley!
I love Yosemite Falls too!! I’ll gage to look the other one up :)
I will Alice look up the other hikes you went on. I am dealing with a bad back injury and now need spine surgery. DISC is out so of to Sedars in Tarzana for surgery soon. I will send you an email today or tomorrow. Need to chat to see if we could work together Podcast stuff and Maybe articles in U Cast news letter. Have a great beautiful weekend here. Next week 110 in the Valley.🥵
My favorite hike in California probably was the Panorama trail in Yosemite NP. Thanks for another beautiful video, Alice.
Yosemite has so many great hikes. I’ll have to check that trail out next time I’m up there
My first real overnight backpack was here in October of 1974 … equipment included a North Face Kaksack, Oval Intention, and Superlight down sleeping bag. Also along for the ride were my Galibier Vercors, a Svea stove and Sierra cup from Sport Chalet in
La Canada 🙂👍🏼 This trail became my standard day-hike acclimatization route before spending multiple nights at timberline. What a beautiful (albeit slightly overused) area of the southern Sierra.
That’s a great take. Thanks for sharing it is certainly a beautiful area
Beautiful video. I am in LA and have been thinking about whether it's possible to do Mt Langley as a day hike from here. My conclusion: it's pushing it because everything has to go exactly right. It's useful to me to see what the weather looks like this time of year in your video. Shorts for daytime but be prepared, it looks like.
@@HighSierraDrifter excellent advice!

Awesome... Thanks for sharing 🏕
Great job Alice 👏 👍 love seeing your adventures. I was always in the Eastern and Western Searras when I was your age. Be safe and keep up your podcasts
Paul Wise Thanks so much Paul. It’s a beautiful place
A little late to the game...but great hiking area. I have not done that one but have hiked the Whitney Portals and some of the areas near there, even to an abandoned mine. The "hogbacks" on the way to Whitney are a fun romp as well. One could easily get lost in that maze of boulders!
You would love the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in MN.
I’ll have to check that out I’ve never hiked in MN
@@AliceFordAdventures it can be hiked but primarily people canoe and portage from place to place. It is unbelievably beautiful.
drones in the backcountry? I did not know you could fly them there.
Certainly not in a National Park, probably not illegal in the Golden Trout Wilderness, tho
@@aeropilot4419 yeah, probably.
Yeah, definitely not allowed, and as somone who does a lot of hiking in the Sierra, not appreciated. Drones are not quiet/peaceful. But, hey what's more important a UA-camr or everyone else trying to enjoy the wilderness.
Is there a specific app that you use for trail maps?
Yes I use All trails. There is a link to this hike in the description on it as well.
Hello Alice, I am from India....been following your adventures for quite some time now ......how I wish life gives me the opportunity to visit all these places someday......fingers crossed
I hope so as well. I hope to visit India one day too
HI from California. I met a couple from India at Iceberg Lake in 2019. I belive they were newly married and enjoying a short backpacking trip in the Mammoth Lakes area. Until you have been there, it's impossible to understand how huge the views are in the Sierra. I love it and am thankful that I get to set aside a week or two to enjoy it every year since I hiked the John Muir Trail in 2015.
Looks Awesome!
Your video quality is outstanding!
Thanks so much, You're content is great too
Great video, I love the Cottonwood Lakes area. That drive up to the trailhead is no joke though!
Totally right. Some huge drop offs on those twists and turns
Wow! This looks so gorgeous! Looks like you had a wonderful time on this hike!
I sure did. I just love this area so much. I wish I lived closer
My first experience in Lone Pine we were camping overnight, backpacked in, and I forgot my poles to my tent...... Made due with a lean two.
So glad you are actually mentioning the rules to the area. I feel like a lot of campers/hikers forget to look out to respect nature, keep the trails clean and usable for years to come. So sad about all the fires in Cali. Hope they all get put out soon. We are getting a lot of the smoke in Utah. Gorgeous lake.
Ha that's amazing. I love that you still made it work as a lean two. So many fires everywhere this summer :(
I've wanted to visit this area for so long! Love getting into the alpine zone above 10,000 feet!
Nevada Hiker Me too. Love the cooler temperatures and the thinner air
I like how open the forested areas are in that part of the Sierras. The trees are so far apart!
Awesome video Alice! Was this trip recent? I only ask because of the SQF fire nearby, doesn't look like it's affecting you guys out there!
Hi John, This was about 2 weeks ago, the fires had been burning for a few days but because they are on the West side, most of the smoke had been blocked by the mountains.
Thanks for sharing such a lovely and beautiful content. I m wondering why you have such less number of subs despite outstanding efforts in every aspect. Hope Your channel cross millions of subs. Your efforts needs to be appreciated..
Mehnaz Bibi Thankyou Mehnaz I wonder that myself ha, please share with a friend and thank you so much for watching
California has so many beautiful parks. I have only been to Muir woods so far but am planning a trip to Joshua Tree. I love California and can't wait to explore it more.
I love Muir Woods. There are some other really great state parks up in that area also. You’ll love J Tree my favorite times there are in the winter and spring.
The next one is always my favorite. I was supposed to climb mount Dana next after Cathedral but I had to take a break and I have been slow to get back to it. Ya that phone is not going anywhere. 👍👍👍.
Would love to do cathedral. You’ll get back out there soon ;)
@@AliceFordAdventures recommend the direct south buttress, 5.7- 5.7 ❤️
Very inspiring video, I love the shot where the camera follows you in the forest. Is it the drone or someone following with a selfie stick?
Thank you. That was shot on a drone
wow such a beautiful place!
It really is!
