Amazon Rising at the Shedd Aquarium | Ep. 11

It hasn't been long but, we’re back at the Shedd Aquarium. Last time we headed down stairs to the reefs of the Philippines but this time adjacent to the elevators and the main entrance is the Amazon Rising Seasons of the River. Opened back 2000 the aquarium used 17 million dollars to turn 2 of their older galleries into what would eventually become an AZA award exhibit. This development takes you through the seasons of the amazon including the risings, fallings, and how its inhabitants adapt to these environments. This 10,000 square foot ecosystem includes 5 individually labeled sections. The Amazon Rising displays the cycle of the rising and falling of the Amazon river and how its inhabitants cope to it. Each year this cycle of rising and falling repeats leaving the land more renewed than before. This phenomenon enhances the ecosystem of the rainforests and is crucial to its survival.

If you're planning on heading to the Amazon Rising based on experience I recommend the early morning, right when they open. Near the end of the day it tends to get packed.

Cool going to Peoria as the last stop of the road trip probably won’t go to Chicago for a long time but I get to go to some good zoos like Denver,st Louis,Omaha,KC,Sedgwick county which will be cool

@@TheVirtualZoo also would definitely not recommend the Denver zoo after I went they only thing that stranded out was the elephant passage which didn’t even say how many elephants they have or there names

@@kevinmiller4457 last I checked Denver had 5, they claim to have the largest herd of males in North America.
