- Exactly a week ago, on 17 January 2021, the 100-Day Countdown to the 500th Anniversary of the Victory at Mactan commenced at the Liberty Shrine, Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City. The said milestone is designated by the National Quincentennial Committee as the DDay of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines.

History of Spanish slavery in the Philippines
Slavery was widespread in the Philippine islands before the archipelago was integrated into the Spanish Empire. Policies banning slavery that the Spanish crown established for its empire in the Americas were extended to its colony in the Philippines. The viceroyalty of New Spain oversaw the Philippine administratively, and the terminus of the Manila galleon in Acapulco sometimes saw the importation of Philippine slaves, who were labeled chinos. Crown policies regarding the favorable treatment of indigenous populations and prohibition of slavery were enforced in the Americas since the early 16th century. These were initially not always adhered to.

It should be Rajah Tupas, the true symbol of defiance, resistance and modus vivendi. Tupas successfully repelled the invading conquistadors, Tupas defended Cebu well against Legazpi, Sikatuna, Bankaw and Urrao. The unsung hero was the reason why Legazpi diverted to Panay then Manila. The Battle of Mactan was never an invasion. It was in fact, a military duel or a battle for supremacy just to impress King Humabon.A husband of Mactan chieftain's niece. And lastly, Magellan and his crew are not conquistadors contrary to popular beliefs.
Yes but Lapu-Lapu beats Magellan and for that, that is enough for me! He fought using only his bolo or machete whatever you want to call it!

The Spaniards the root of my grandparent mother-side never brought this nation into a total 100% mixed race not like the Southern Americas European ancestry is really visible to its people as well as their language of which they still used today in short Spanish colonization didn't reach to a maximum heights. Yes we wins the Great Battle of Mactan, but the Spaniards really won in another form of battle against us which is in the form of spiritual battle to almost 100% and still on their gripped, we are conquered by their Faith of its religion the Holy Roman Catholicism. By that we owed to them so much in spiritual matter so all I can say is "Long Live España y Filipinas!"
2:55 the fireworks were little further away from the flagpole cuz they don't want the flag and the crowd from getting burned. Also there were smoke everywere on the air smelling terrible when someone removes their face shield and face mask.
