I have highly enjoyed your videos for years, but I had somehow forgotten to subscribe. I just did, btw. Anyway, I have a question maybe you could answer. I asked this question on a forum where there are people knowledgeable regarding Dr. Who, but no one has responded. I recall many years ago when Blu-ray’s were beginning to be released, and the question came up regarding will we ever see classic Dr. Who on Bluray? Now, at the time, the answer was firmly...NO! Ok, it made sense at the time around 2007/2008 or so. Then I recall Spearhead From Space was released on Bluray. Now, the explanation I recall from articles and perhaps even on an extra on the Bluray itself, was that this episode was chosen since it was all shot on film and it it could be made available on Bluray. Most all other episodes would not be ideal due to the mixture of location and studio filming. I can’t believe I am misremembering this as my Uncle said the same thing recently in response to this as well in addition to a number of Dr. Who fans I know. So, when did this notion get thrown out the window? I mean, I know technology can advance rapidly, but it seemed that the idea of Dr. Who on Bluray would never happen, and all of a sudden...POOF!, there can be Bluray! What exactly changed here, and was this mentioned in any of the newer Bluray season release extras? Funny, I have 3 of the newer releases, but have yet to watch them as I want to prep for an upcoming new Dr. Who marathon! Well, I hope you can answer this and I enjoy your content! Thanks!

The rumor is that Season 20 might be next... Which would mean tons of stuff relating to The Five Doctors and the 20th Anniversary celebrations if so! Here's hoping!

I have to say that these complete season Blu-ray sets are *incredible*. I’m *really* enjoying them. Can’t wait to have the entire Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker runs on Blu-ray. This was actually my first real exposure to the Sylvester McCoy doctor (other than at the beginning of the Fox movie) and he is really quite good. I could not get enough of the first serial of the 26th season, “Battlefield”, with the return of the Brigadier and Bessie.
What I would kill to have a Ghost Light extended edition with the deleted scenes reinstated and fully restored.
My Birthday is in 3 weeks, really hoping to finally pick up some Classic Who on Blu 🤞🏻 BBC has always been amazing at special features!
The way they named the season on the doctor who collection sets from across the pond would annoy me so bad haha. I always like the behind the sofa special feature they have been doing.
I don't think there will be any more classic seasons released on BD this year unless season 20 is announced within the next couple of weeks due to be released just before Christmas. Can't see it happening. I am surprised though that season 18 wasn't re-released. Would be nice to be able to get that for £40 instead of having to spend something like £150 on eBay.
There definitely won't be another release this year. They announce them several months in advance and the year is almost over.
@@zaranyzerak Season 14 was announced about 2 months before its release. Of course that release date was pushed back a month but still. Just wishful thinking on my part.

it's cool that these lost/missing episodes from earlier seasons are getting the animation treatment. seems to be the only way that these stories/episodes can come back out into the open from their first tv release run.
still, not a day goes by when I wish that the entire William Hartnel story, Marco Polo, could get that very exact treatment. the audio story for is fine..., but I still feel as if the episodes that make the original Marco Polo episodes are as important to the William Hartnel years, just as the recently reconstructed/animated episodes/stories are important to the Patrick Troughton years.

Correct. I wasn't about to list off every single story yet to be animated, just give a sense of where they're at.
@@zaranyzerak 7 serials from season 3, 3 from season 4(not counting those rumoured for next year), 2 from season 5(if you count Web Of Fear 3) and 1 from season 6. They already ruled out animating the two missing serials from seasons 1 and 2, at least for the time being.
Personally I think they missed a trick there by not animating Web 3. They could have released a Yeti double DVD/BD release with a special edition for Web including commentaries and other extras.
Part of me hopes that somewhere despite how unlucky it may be, there exists copies of the tapes for Ghost Light containing the deleted scenes without the annoying time stamp on the bottom screen and could be used to give us the extended edition we should have on VHS years ago.
That would definitely be nice, but I'm glad we at least got the Extended version we did. So nice to see the "almost 4-part cut" at long last!
I'm so hyped for Fury from the Deep. I only wish they would release it theatrically like The Power of the Daleks. I would also love to see both The Evil of the Daleks and The Abominable Snowmen animated. I think Evil of the Daleks is more popular so I think they'll do that one first, but I'm hoping they'll do Fury from the Deep first as I like that one slightly more.
Sorry, not Fury from the Deep, I mean The Abominable Snowmen.
Ive been meaning to ask you, cause you know more about how HD, pal video, and other things works than me, If these Blu-ray releases continue, do you think we will get the black-and-white seasons or should I start getting the black and white DVDs cause they’ll never come out?
Only asking you because you’re probably one of the most knowledgeable person on the subject that is also a fan of Doctor Who
Well the intention with the season sets is to ultimately release all 26 of them. So yes, at some point we'll get the Black and White seasons. The problem is, each of those seasons has at least a few missing episodes. So until enough animated adaptations are done to fill those gaps, we won't see those seasons released. But we will get them eventually.
Of course if you just can't wait, you can get the individual DVD/Blu-ray releases now. I'm collecting the steelbook releases of the animated ones, for example. Both to support the releases in the hope they'll keep doing them, and also because they're just very nice editions often loaded with extras. Plus I don't want to wait possibly for years to see these very well done animated reconstructions. :)

It is possible that seasons 1, 2 and 6 might get a release within the foreseeable future. Probably with a telesnap recon for Marco Polo and the Crusade. Space Pirates is more tricky as no telesnaps exist as I think John Cura died during broadcast of the Mind Robber. As for seasons 3 to 5 it is likely you probably have to wait until around 2028 or later for those to allow for more animations to be completed. They seems to be concentrating on seasons 4 and 5 currently with one serial animated from each season every year. Abominable Snowman and Evil of the Daleks is due for 2021. After that there is only The Smugglers, The Highlanders and The Underwater Menace to do from season 4 and The Web of Fear part 3 and The Wheel In Space from season 5 to do. Possible season 6 might be held back from release to animate Space Pirates. By the end of 2025 seasons 4, 5 and 6 will be complete in some form or another. This of course assumes that no serial from season 3 is animated. The Daleks' Masterplan is so huge it would probably take 2 releases to get it animated.
This is just my speculation. The whole Corona thing may put a kybosh on things. Not often you get to use that word, hope the spell checker gave the right spelling.

Would love to pick up Season 12 and Season 10. Hope they release Season 25 (has two of my fav stories The Greatest Show in the Galaxy and Remembrance of the Daleks) and Season 1 and 11. Those are the best ever seasons of Doctor IMO. Actually all Pertwee's are good and so are Baker's but his first season is definitely the best! I've watched nearly every episode of the classic series.

the season of Jodie here in Puerto Rico was in sale at $15 on blu ray and NOBODY bought it at all , instead the all animated DVD collection was there , and I got it!!!
Nah, I like all Doctor Who, old and new. I just wait for the new ones to put out the Complete Collection for each Doctor. Nice packaging, cheaper than getting the individual releases, and often exclusive extras. So I look forward to getting the complete Jodie Whittaker Collection when her wonderful run is finished.

Why is shada is not inbetween seasons 14 and 18.
Because that would be visually terrible for the flow of the collection on the shelf? I keep the season sets together, the individual releases together, the steelbooks together. Spearhead from Space is where it is because there haven't been any seasons preceding it yet. When there are, it will be moved to the individual releases section.
