    Huge respect for becoming a serious player in the car industry with ZERO history behind it.
    What are manufacturers doing when a company can go from a modified electric BMW 3 series to one of the most respected electric cars in just a few years!!

    • @louicoleman2910
      @louicoleman2910 6 років тому +2

      srinitaaigaura totally yeah! Though it’s still too early days to say Rimac makes the most powerful car, Tesla’s Roadster specs are roughly the same and more likely than not the Tesla 0-100km/h of 1.9 is with no ‘one-foot-rollout’ whereas Rimac’s 0-100km/h definitely is. Aside from this, both cars are only prototypes at best, so the upgrades will likely make the specs even better.
      All the same: good competition breeds good products and Rimac certainly isn’t slacking in that department!

    • @srinitaaigaura
      @srinitaaigaura 6 років тому +1

      I doubt. 10000 NM wheel torque is around what hypercars make in 2nd gear at the wheels if you take all gearing into account. The actual numbers may be around 1100-1300 Nm Torque and a max of 1200-1300 HP - they may have gone for the 1 MW number. The 0-100 time is half a second better than the best times of the P1 and LaFerrari so I guess the power to weight is also better, maybe 0.70 to 0.8 HP/Ton - this much power is easily enough to get up to 260 mph +.
      Given the size of the battery and the weight of the car, I do not expect the Roadster to beat the Agera RS from 60 mph upwards either or the Regera, but it might just edge the Bugatti Chiron (though it is close), but the relatively cheap price can't be beat. Definitely not the C_Two, they're using F1 grade cells and the cost of that is probably more than the Roadster.
      So it's not a 1:1 ratio like the Rimac C_Two. That 8.9 second quarter mile is all due to the gains made in 0-60 mph, which looks like a whole second faster than the competition. Musk also cleverly ignores the initial rollout, so the actual time is probably around 9.2 seconds.

    • @forloop7713
      @forloop7713 6 років тому

      @@srinitaaigaura had to stop reading when you started talking about torque

    • @srinitaaigaura
      @srinitaaigaura 6 років тому +1

      Yes, I'm a geek. You might not know - take the Laferrari. It produces 900 Nm of torque, which in first gear (multiplied by first gear ratio x final drive) = 900 x 3.08 x 4.38 or 12141 Nm of torque with only rear wheel drive. In second gear it is still making 8600 Nm wheel torque. HP = Torque x RPM / 5252
      The Agera RS for comparison, makes 1370 x 3.4 x 3.13 = 14580 Nm torque in 1st gear and 9780 Nm in 2nd gear. So Elon Musk's claims are impressive yes, but he's hiding the devil in the details. The roadster probably makes about 1100 Nm torque and around 1 MW (1360) HP at the most. It suggests that the Roadster is at the most in the same ballpark as the Koenigsegg and can give the Bugatti Chiron a run for its money.

    One thing with sharing information about manufacturing - if others get in the game, the size of the market increases, because the product (in this case carbon fibre composite high stress components) gain more acceptance in the industry. The whole supply then has bigger demand and sales volumes. This is what Tesla proved.

      @aglaycock1 6 років тому +7

      Because you can make a lot of components thinner, lighter and smaller with plastics, as well as friction weld complex plastic assemblies together to make single components that are impossible in metal. Modern automotive engines for example, would not be possible without engineering plastics. Next time you get a chance take a look at a complex plastic molding, like the intake manifold of a modern engine. They are incredible.

      @Flexo_l 6 років тому +6

      They will produce it for other brands or for their next high volume cars. You cannot put parts like this into high volume number cars. To make part like that it can take some days and you need couple of thousands of it. Now do the math. That's way low volume number cars are so expensive.

    • @perwestermark8920
      @perwestermark8920 6 років тому +2

      They need high volume customers to get enough income to make the investments needed for building high-end custom parts.
      With the machines costing many millions, you can't rely on a few high-end customers to bring in enough money.

  • @kevinparks5220
    @kevinparks5220 6 років тому

    Either you stay exclusive with the materials on the planet that are available to you or you compromise both the integrity and the value of the vehicle mentioned. Look at PAGANI, there are no shits given. IT COSTS WHAT IT COSTS... No plastice.. and no carbon fiber even with the perpreg is not mostly plastic. You're an idiot. You can't be a profitable supplier and lose thousands of dollars on every part because you deliver parts produced with technologies meant for development and small series production. And nobody ever said they were going to use those parts on their own cars.. because that obviously wouldn't be possible as r&d costs for high the high production volume parts would be far too high to ever use them in a small number such as in their own vehicles. You are just a pretentious idiot who has no idea how automotive production works.
