Looks like a cross between a Nutria and a Capybara. Very cute.
hmm i had done some research, further than i like however.. the rare sacred *hutia* they are closely related to "giant beavers than anything else. they are terrestial yet not aquatic or semi-aquatic like their cousins. that's why they mainly eat foliage based plant matter like infamous potus green vines and dry fruit. potus plants are found all over the united states cause "migrate birds and spiders" be dropping their seeds all over the place..
Hutia are very cool. Congratulations. Please move him to an all metal, or metal lined cages as soon as possible. He can quickly eat through a wooden cage. Maybe Custom Cages can send you a SunCatcher cage for it.
❤He is like a Beaver / Cappabera/ Guinea pig . How cute his face is . 🤗🦛
The Desmarest's hutia is found only in Cuba, but is widespread throughout its range. They are found on the main island, Isla de la Juventud, the Sabana archipelago, the Doce Laqunas archipelago and many of the other islands and cays of the Cuban archipelago. An extinct subspecies, C. p. lewisi, formerly lived in the Cayman Islands before it was wiped out shortly after European colonization.[3] This subspecies may have been the subject of a report by Francis Drake when he visited the islands, in which he spoke of "little beast-like cats" and "coneys" throughout the area.[5]
Behaviour and reproductionedit
Desmarest's hutias normally live in pairs, but can be found individually or in small groups. They are diurnal and do not burrow, so during the night they rest in hollows in rocks or trees. They are omnivorous but eat mostly bark, leaves and fruit. Occasionally they will take small vertebrates such as lizards. Both males and females scent mark their territory with urine. They breed throughout the year with a gestation period of between 110 and 140 days (normally around 120 to 126 days), although peak breeding season is in June/July. They normally produce between one and three young, weighing an average of 230 g (8 oz). The young are precocial, with fur, fully open eyes and the ability to walk. They are weaned at around five months and reach sexual maturity at around ten months. In captivity they live for eight to eleven years.
Thanks for the info 🙂
The absolute cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Love the little fellow.
It’s actually called Desmarest's hutia. And in the wild they live in pairs. I know it may be impossible, but if you can find another one, then it would probably feel more comfortable. But it might also become more aggressive too. Cool animal
OMG he is so darn cute love him he is amazing .thanks so very much Blake ...
I remember see them on a David Attenborough documentary 😊
Fourth comment awesome video today Blake you rock and happy Thursday you always inspire me every day 💪👍💯💯👍💪💪
That is a “jutia conga”, Cuban hutia (Capromys pilorides). Out of the 2 most common in Cuba this is the one that stays closer to ground.
Incredible, never heard of this animal. I’m sure he/she will thrive in your care. 😊
Kenan went to Bush Wildlife a few times while they were building the new place and still in the old one. That lady is so amazing she knows every animal including the venomous snakes and every inch of that place because she laid it all out and designed it :)
Sorry, there was no woman designing that facility . It flows way to well.
Looks sooo cute 🥰
Super cute little guy I want to name him Stan lol. Blake you and your beautiful family are truly amazing, thank you for and sharing and preserving wildlife for future generations.
I asked my Alexa and they are able to eat through that wooden cage real quick. They get all the water intake from the leaves and branches and also like insects. Thank you for caring for all the animals love watching all your videos and Kenya's.🙂
That's a cool creature I never heard of before today I can't wait to see what the future brings on this animals
That’s a real ROUS. 😂 It’s a cute one though.
I looked it up and found lots of information on Google. Their diet ,areas they live in and how long they live . I really like the one you have.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Blake I looked it up and it says it’s an omnivore and it mostly eats bark, leaves and fruit but occasionally it will eat lizards and they are the largest living species of Hutias and they are the closest living relatives of Nutria aka Coypu, Degus and American spiny rats and the hutias rest in Hollows, rocks and trees and both the males and females scent mark their territory and in captivity they can live for eight to eleven years.
Omg he is my new favorite😂
A Hutia and there is alot of information about them. They need a lot of wood to gnaw to keep teeth managed.
Good thing its in a wooden enclosure 😂
Awesome ❤ please make more videos on th animal which was there in the last part ❤
He needs a all metal cage like the Kookaburras cage, a wooden cage won't last long.

Que hermoso el bebé, saludos desde puerto Rico ❤
ow I know that animal. That's actually called a Cuban crock candy they actually jump up and eat them when they're walking in the mangrove swamps in Cuba. That is a reason why the Cuban crock is endangered cuz the they're habitat is being destroyed and their food is becoming less and less available.
The body length of the nutria is 45 centimeters, and the length of its tail is 30 cm. Its average weight is four kilograms. The duration of pregnancy is about 130 days, and in each pregnancy between four and eight girls are born. The nutria usually feeds on water plants and riparian plants. It originates from South America, and in addition to this continent It is also common in North America, Europe and was brought by man to Israel.
In Israel the notary is an invasive species. Families of Nutria are found in Agmon Hula, in the Sea of Galilee, in Yarkon Park, in Nahal Ekron, in the fish ponds in Ma'agan Michael, Agmon Hefer and in the pool of Nahal Ein Zahav in the KKL-Junk grove in the Kiryat Shmona area.
The notary's body is suitable for swimming. Her eyes, ears and nostrils are located on the top of her head, which protrudes from the water while she is in it. Her hind legs have swimming membranes. The front legs lack swimming membranes, but are used for walking, holding food and combing and cleaning the fur. Her tail resembles a rat's tail.
The notary successfully adapts to diverse living areas thanks to its contentment with little. For its existence, it needs a small water mikvah and plant food that grows in the water or on the nearby bank. Most of its activity takes place at night. The female gives birth to her cubs when they are covered in fur and their eyes are open. At the end of two months of the mother's care, they become independent.
Man makes a lot of use of the notary's beautiful fur, and it was brought by him to different places in the world and also to Israel. Many nutria escaped from captivity and reproduced in the wild in large quantities. A mistaken belief is that in Israel its breeding was stopped due to the poor development of the fur in the weather of the Land of Israel, but there is a letter to the members of Kibbutz Holta from a European fur company that indicates that the quality of the fur is of the highest quality, but since notary breeders for the fur began all over Europe, buying from Israel was uneconomical. The notary digs holes in the water bank that cause a lot of damage to the fish ponds. In the years when the population of carnivores in Israel was harmed due to poisoning, the population of nutria increased greatly and a great deal of damage was also caused to vegetable crops.

It's cute I like it
Make his new enclosure have a real tree in the middle a big tree with net on the top and cage down the side like a miniature bird cage around a tree
I hope Blake visit Cuba
He or she is 🥰 cute
The most info i could find is that they dont make their own burrows so they use rock crevasses and hollow trees. they eat leaves, fruit and bark and they are hunted for food in cuba
8:45 Using 305, change 3 to the 3rd letter C, change the zero to letter O, change 5 to the 5th letter E, so Coe, pronounced as Koi (as in Koi carp). There genus name Capromys translates as Boar-mouse.
Which subspecies of Hutia do you have, as I understand there are 10 in total most of which are only found on Cuba?
I ask as there are breeders in the UK as have seen the advertised for sale.
Reminds me of a Wombat. Very cute indeed. Or the one marsupial from Australia
Which marsupial from Australia? Most marsupials are from Australia, wombats, koalas, kangaroos, cuscus, possums (not to be confused for american opossum), wallabies, tasmanian devils
Which Australian marsupial? Most marsupials are from Australia
Oh.. the cuscus or the ones that likes to photobomb and smiles
I think it’s the cuscus
@@elisheva67 the photobomb one is called a quokka
Is it the prehistoric looking solenodon
Don't know where you were looking but Google has a ton of info about the Cuban hutia. 🤔
Is related to beavers😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
He is so cute! He looks like a beaver in the face
Ok. I was looking throuh the comments to see if anyone said anything about him grabbing the poop and showing it to us casually saying this right here is what his poo looks like 😂 that cracked me up!!
Yall should call him Splinters on the count of that's what he makes his food into 😅
Some people in cuba grow these up as pets, basically big guinea pigs. Others grow them up as food
Keep him in the aviary!!
Its a JutÍa , or ( hutia ) , in the farm i grew up in cuba we had tons of them
I need more lol
@@BlakesExoticAnimalRanch they are very cool and make great pets if you get them when they’re babies, you definitely need more lol
Looks like a cross between a beaver and a musk rat, very cute
Ben from Urban Rescue Ranch might have a similar creature
I believe it's a Cuban.Soldon Or something called a Hataya. which is a relative of the Capybara. You can name him after the capital of Cuba, Havana.

8:56 Mr 305 is crazy
Love you man keep helping animals um I have been looking for a hutia i do have like every animal like farm animals, reptiles, fish, amphibians, big cats, birds, bears, capybara, apes, monkeys, lemurs, lions and more I will dm you my animals and if get a hutia I will dm you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love watching upur UA-cam. Very interesting and fun. I wanted to see if you heard of the SHOEBILL STORK? I know you like large birds. Very few people have them. They are OK around people, but they eat animals. They are very unusual birds from Africa. If anyone could care for one, it would be you. A breeding program would be very helpful. 11:19
But ZooTampa is home to three of only four shoebill storks in the United States. These fascinating birds can reach 5 feet in height and are classified as critically endangered, with only 3,300 to 3,500 mature shoebills still living in the wild.Mar 30, 2021
Ive heard some funny stories about soliders at guamtanamo about these giant or guamtanamo rats, pretty sure that most live on guamtanamo property 😂
A hutia? I googled animals of cuba😊
Hutia? That’s an interesting name
It's a hybrid Rodent 😂
and it's the Cuban crocodiles main food source
8:50 looks like a cross between a nutria and a beaver
Hey cassandra you still seeing Brenton??
I read they may be called Cavy’s to if that’s true @Chris Gillette aka Gator Chris has 2 Cavy’s
No that's not what Chris has.
He’s like a Quokka lol
Can you ship something to india
Do they swim? He’s cute, maybe he would like some toys, when you said in the car eating wires it made me think of an animal in CA mountain, a Marmot. Not sure if they are related? ❤❤❤ I bet he would enjoy some nuts, and maybe apples or dog food, like a rodent or skunk diet?
Boy your wife been showed him on TikTok 😂😂
Does also called banana rats my dad ate one
