Lllllllllll
This album has a special place in my heart specially the track number 9! 🖤🤘
👏👏👏👏👏🤘🤘🤘
Gracias por compartir!
20? Damn I'm old!
Still jammin to this classic in 2024, who else?
I'm 55. Started listening to them a year or two ago. I'm hooked.
2023, still screaming Babylon you will fall!
We are going to 2024 and I am still excited when listening to this album and regretting that not all the bands in general followed this style.
👏🔥🔥🔥
2024 🤌🏻🔥
Facts. Same here
2025
One of my favorite metalcore albums of all time, it really has stood the test of time
Fucking awesome album. Who else is jamming rn???
Right here
yes! still listening
The best true Metalcore cd EVVERRR..
I'm with you, I've been listening for years and I don't get tired. Personally, I think that this should have been the style that this genre should follow. What's happening now, apart from the occasional band and of course the great power metal, I don't like the rest...
This is my favorite metalcore album on CD as well
Good record, but I disagree.
Incredible record that never gets old.
Blew my mind when I first heard it back in the day, opened the flood gates for me for metal. Flawless album, easy 5 stars.
My first album from Killswitch Engage, amazing.
After all these years, still one of best metal core records from start to finish
I miss Jesse's vocals from those days 😭
So many great memories tied to these songs. One of the most Inspiring influential albums.
This album got me through it.
I'm Alive.
This album was ahead of its time
This album will always slap. A true masterpiece
Ain't nothing like jamming this top level in my 2005 Thunderbird every morning on the way to work screaming every lyric right along with Jesse. Good times were had.
The next song, and the drummer again rules. This album is so heavy.
Killer album, brings back some epic memories. Never gets old. 😜💋🖤
This, End of Heartache, and As Daylight Dies are true masterpieces.
Disarm the Descent (the first KSE album after Howard left and Jesse returned to the band) is even better than daylight dies, and I'd say is as good as Heartache, if not maybe a little better than that. So many bangers. The hell in me, beyond the flames, time will not remain, in due time, the new awakening, no end in sight. So good.
@@thedeathofreason that album is fucking AMAZING
@@thedeathofreason I’ll check it out. I haven’t heard any of there new stuff (the last album Howard did I I didn’t really like)
And disarm the descent , Atonement!
@@thedeathofreason I have the same opinion. After this album, the one I like the most is Disarm the Decent and I remember that people threw hate at it at that time...
Flashback from the past
Absolutely.
It’s like a high school reunion
This album is perfect for me. Has all i love in metal music. Beautiful melodies, gutural voices, sweet clean vocals, acoustic guitars, powerful drums, killer guitar tones, blast beats, amazing backing vocals, the bass tone is a punch in the face. It has melancholy moments. The lyrcs makes me want to live with strenght and determination. It has it all!! I'm 40 years old right now, and still listen this when i need reload my energies to make a better day. Just like when i was 20. Thank you so much KE for you music.
37:20 one of the most beautiful instrumental interludes ever
Crazy how old this is now. I remember being on MySpace trying to talk to some girl I liked from school, listening to this album every single day. Aside from that memory this album definitely changed my life for the better. Ended up playing in bands and meeting a lot of lovely people.
More powerful than ever before!! This brings me to a time in the past!!! ❤
It’s so good cos it’s also so positive
Perfect album
Great memories from high school ❤️
The best lyrics on any album. Ever.
This is a good one. I’m in.
Wow. I forgot how fresh this was and STILL is! Amazing, amazing
haven't listened to this absolute classic since *2004*
mega thanks for the upload, this album is just as good at getting through the tough times as it was when it first released
I'm with you, I've been listening for years and I don't get tired. Personally, I think that this should have been the style that this genre should follow. What's happening now, apart from the occasional band and of course the great power metal, I don't like the rest...
New bands doesnt make good and heavy metalcore like the gold times, this kind of music tastes my teenager era. A great album for sure, heavy and melodic, brutal and beautiful in the same time!
I love how raw this motherfrrr is!!!!! ❤🤘🤘
Thanks,I Love It🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Never gets old! One of my fave KsE, Adam D/Sneap projects! In my top 10 on a deserted island releases.
song # 4 Last Serenade-my new favorite song. Of course it's because the drummer does rule.
2022 never gets old
2024!
🍃Much thanks for very good songs!! Yes,yes, songs is good, true!!🌾
Amazing 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Whoo it sounds great. I had never heard 'bout that band.
Dang
best metal album of all time
Probably you don t know anything about metal ..its a good album but not the best of all time
It's up there when it comes to metalcore or perhaps even hardcore.
@@MrRick090 but I'm sure he knows plenty about metal fans, just reading your comment.
"Vanilla" taste, lmao.
Ahh to be in highschool again. This was the summer jam the year it came out.
Super 💥👌
Can someone explain why Jesses vocals sound so god damn good on this record specifically?(almost 80s metal vibe with the reverb?)
Also why does the snare sound so good. The production and mix on this album is top notch, maybe best across the genre.
I'm with you, I've been listening for years and I don't get tired. Personally, I think that this should have been the style that this genre should follow. What's happening now, apart from the occasional band and of course the great power metal, I don't like the rest...
Adam Dutkiewicz played lead guitar and drums circa 1997-2000 with Aftershock, but then he attended Berklee college of music in Boston and leveled up fucking MASSIVELY. He studied production, audio engineering and bass guitar (notice how he only studied things he didn't know to evolve). So when they started recording stuff for KsE around the year 2000 he began polishing things up massively, and never stopped leveling up. The guy went on an absolute TEAR when it comes to production between 2000 and 2006.
As for Jesse's vocals, this is unfortunately a sound we will never get again. Back in the 2000s Jesse used to spit blood after practices and gigs. Obviously this was not a good thing, but the positive part is the SCREAMS he laid out for KsE and "the empire shall fall". They were absolutely ungodly. During these years he put blood sweat and tears and practically destroyed himself to produce something, but that something was timeless. Listen to "Irreversal" by KsE to check excatly how fucking hard Jesse used to go at it
it's that trademark abrasive, rough screaming that many of these singers had cause of no technique, and it's murder on the throat. melissa cross has helped a lot of these singers refine their screaming to preserve their voice, which is why it sounds different now.
Yup. I was so excited to know of Melissa Cross because I thought many vocalists were going to be able to perform well into their 40s and maybe even 50s h
with her help. I'm very happy Jesse and many more linked up with her but I think he's just a different man now. He's not in that dark place anymore. His screams sound very good but his songwriting is a lot more tame these days@@jasonsudeikis26
Funnily enough the vocals were recorded in Jesse's bedroom so no hi-tech studios involved there. The snare was triggered by an Alesis sample and does sound incredible indeed. Without a doubt one of the most perfect and genre-defining albums ever to have been created.
What an album 😭
I love Howard but it's hard to beat this album
Can't believe the vocalist left after this performance. This is great.
In case no one mentioned it, the drummer rules.
the drummer is the now guitarist and producer, adam D. And yes his drum writing is amazing,.
Very good Abum! See you in copenhagen 22 of August! =)=)
This album brings me some of the best memories from my past.
It’s beyond me this only has a few likes! To all of you who knew KSE before “Howard,” you are the real worthy fans… lol. Love you all! Adam, you’re a rock God
Why do you care about likes? They are meaningless numbers designed by corporations to provoke exactly the kind of tribal response you just gave. Though, your gatekeepy comment about "real" fans and the dig at Howard just shows you are exactly that kind of person.
The best album!
Jeden z najlepszych albumów w tej działce.
Rose of Sharyn got my attention, but this album got me listening to them, and is still my favorite.
I'm with you, I've been listening for years and I don't get tired. Personally, I think that this should have been the style that this genre should follow. What's happening now, apart from the occasional band and of course the great power metal, I don't like the rest...
My Last Serenade was how I got into KsE, and lead Me to buy this CD 'Alive Or Just Breathing'! 😊
@@C.J.R.
I don't get what You are saying!
Always my favorite album
24:10 Nothing beats this breakdown!!!
I remember buying this when i was on the uss george Washington when it came out and listening it on repeat when we were on deployment in the persian gulf. They set the template for modern metalcore and the lyrics are so heartfelt and mean so much over 20 years later. Front to back a banger. Respect. Positivity and heaviness perfected. This album will always be in my heart
Vocals on this album were superb
This album kicks ass!
Prior to your show. It will be fun to have a ‘ Let’s Get into your Previous Pants’ runway show 🤘
Smooches
On to something trully special with this, Amazing album and band, one I'll be listening to till the day I die, could've been the next Metallica ❤️🤘🤟
The best , the best..............

este es el mejor disco para mi
Es bien hardcore para mí uno de los mejores, la calidad es tremenda 😈
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My first time hearing it. I don't know why I've slept on this album for so long. I enjoy their later albums but for some reason never gave this one a chance. I now see that was a huge mistake!
Bought this on release , I was 16 at the time (or 15 can't quite remember) and my girlfriend at the time hated me for playing it in the morning before I went to work mwahahahahahahahahahahahahhaa ......absolute classic album!
WTF??? This is groove metal and noting else other!!!!!!! 🤘
I came here from They Might be Giant's "Istanbul". Tonal whiplash is real.
Alive or just breathing by KSE
The Oncoming Storm by Unearth
The War Within by Shadows Fall
Shadows are Security by AILD
My 4 favourite metalcore albums
Honor mention: The Fall of Ideals by All that Remains
Couldn't agree more with that list, but I would have to add in
Haste the day - burning bridges
The showdown - Chorus of obliteration
Legend of Posthardcore /metalcore //
This isnt post hardcore is melodic metalcore
This has nothing to do with Posthardcore
Periphery is awesome im glad to be here
what does this have to do with Periphery ? LUL
Periphery are not bad, but You won't find them here! 😅
All the songs are amazing, however the first five songs are so perfect that I feel let down by the rest of the album, which of course is madness.
Melhor album do KSE.
Old School 😈
kinda got a slayer vibe at some points
Uhmm... really cool
Yeaa
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Killswitch Engage is the #1 -core band, without question... there's not a single album that hits the way this does.
I'd say All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals is a close second. But both are amazing. I met Phil from ATR after a show in 2006. He was just outside smoking after the show. Seems like a cool dude. He's on Tim Pools podcast constantly now.
@@ShiggyMiyamo yeah I love ATR and TFOI. Not a boring song on there, and it's got riffs for days.
cool that you got to meet him way back then. That's a bit before my time (I would've been 6) but I just love the 2000s metalcore style. Would love to hear it come back.
Hahaha, no.
Ohio here as well! Check! This is PHENOMENAL!
•••
....me biskies are tingling.... 👀
I don't know why I wasn't more into Killswitch back then, I was more into Pantera, Cryptopsy, In Flames and not that order...
you like Groove metal/nu metal... and that's normal.
Metalcore was my introduction to metal, and then i get more in older stuff.
What a fuckin album
.
✌🏻🤘🏼✌🏻
My favorite band in the world!!..admittedly i don't agree with them politically!! but it's ok to disagree with pple. But it's true that my favorite album "PERIOD ",..is As Daylight Dies!!! But i love them Both vocal & Lyrically!!!
Fuckin outstanding. Danke.

Hi mom
What for bad singing.
Noob
Shit take
What for bad english.
WTF Dude, i respect if you don't like metal and/or growling/screaming/gutural... it's not for everybody
BUT calling Jesse a bad singer, only shows that you know nothing about singing and technical aspects of singing.
Tonto ql
I remember hearing this album for the first time at a friend's bedroom, in 2003. It was new, fresh, young, powerful, beautiful, angry. All at once. I had a few moments like that with music and it still amazes me every time, specially with "Fixation on the Darkness" intro. OMFG.
