Great video Cassiy, I already knew this information, but I love how you break it down and explain it, it seems to gel even more and you just have a perfect way of speaking that makes everything seem so much easier. I always look forward to your video's!!!! Could you add a video to your list of how you handle when other people steal your designs. I have found numerous design that I made that are completely unique and someone is selling them on amazon and facebook. I don't know who to report them too - but I also recognize so many other etys sellers designs, I've thought about reaching out to them and letting them know someone stole their designs and I have a couple times in the past but some act mad at me for telling them?? Go figure, right!! I would love to know how you handle it. Thanks!!!
I will add it to the list for sure!! Thank you so much for the kind comments and support, it really does mean the world to me that people are enjoying my content

Great great and very helpful video! Thank you so much for the information I really needed it. question, are the Etsy fees listed on the etsy website?
Hi Cassiy, first thank you so much for all of your education you provide. so thorough, clear and user friendly. I was wondering if you have any direction on how to determine the shipping costs on Etsy? Thank you so much!
Here is a full video I did on how to price your products, hope this helps!

Cassiy you are amazing and your "little channel' would be a big channel soon!
I'd like to see a video about selling digital products. Listing would be the same but what about templates, instant downloads etc?
Thanks for your honesty and integrity Cassiy!
Thank you so much for your kind words
@@CassiyJohnson Thank you for your quick reply. Yes any of those digital products would be great. Thanks in advance!
Thanks
Excellent work
Thank you so much!
@@CassiyJohnson what,sup no. Your
hi cassiy that thank for your videos its very informative and explained very well. I'm your new follower & I,m new to etsy and i would like to ask if someone buy to my etsy store is the customer will pay the item first before i ship it? 2nd how long would the payment will be reflected to me? 3rd if POD and i use printify, if i send order to them from my etsy store should i pay first before they process my orders or after the sales from etsy? Thank you and godbless!
Good Calculation for newbies.. And just want to mention, in the description, your mock-up store URL is getting 404 on etsy.
Thank you so much for letting me know, I went ahead and fixed the link! www.etsy.com/shop/StopMockandRoll
Thank you Cassiy. I appreciate the great content! I'm not sure if you've already said this somewhere, but when pricing your listings, do you use a loss leader (one specific color and size with a cheaper price) to encourage someone clicking on your listings? If yes, I'd love to know what you do.
I have tried that in the past before but find that it doesn't make as much difference as I would want. So I just set the prices at the normal price to start now.
@@CassiyJohnson Thanks for the info Cassiy. I was just looking up SEO for a particular niche and every single bestseller or hot seller used a loss leader, so it really makes me wonder. Also, in that niche, almost every bestseller charges a lower price and then charges for shipping. Do you do that ever or always free shipping? Regardless of the loss leaders, I can't argue with your success. I'm sure you know what works and what doesn't. Thanks again.
Hi Cassiy thanks for all the info. So isn't it true that the per transaction fee is 45 cents since if it sells you have to relist it? That seems odd that the listing ends if you sell it as most people selling just one item. So in this case is the auto renew the better option, otherwise it would no longer be listed every time you sell one item. correct?
Hi, so what do you mean @8:58 that etsy fees and shipping come off your profit margins? And how much tax per dollar should you set aside? Thank you
Hey, in the 6.5% transaction fees, does total sales include shipping fees?
Do you have a video on how to navigate the esty shop manager dashboard?
No so sorry I do not!
Hi Cassiy! Have you ever noticed your Etsy AD listings having no movement? Usually I at least get views, very little clicks, but still views. Now I am getting 0 views on my advertised listings.
I try not to advertise any listings that aren't getting sales/views on their own organically. Ads are best used to pour gasoline on the first that's already burning. If you aren't seeing the sales you want, then keep focussed on getting new items up for sale until you start getting sales!
Hello Cassiy, I would like to know if that 15% fee that they charge for purchases outside of etsy is an option that we must activate to the store or they simply promote the product at any time and then charge the fee? thanks for your videos..
If you have sold less than 10k in sales on your Etsy store, then you can turn this off. But after 10k in sales, then this is mandatory. But after you sell a certain amount, the fee goes down to 12%. These are good sales though that you would have not gotten otherwise and hopefully will get you more organic sales because now that listing has sold!
And these won't happen as much as you think, when I sell hundreds of items per month, somewhere between 20-30 of those sales will be from offsite ads.
I have sold 3 products on my shop and I have been in the negative everytime...I am super confused. I have not seen one cent in my bank account.. I don't want to make my products sky high...
Are the off side ads mandatory?
👍 5k sub in two months time. mark my word.
Wow that would be amazing, thank you so much for believing in me and my new little channel!!
Alura doesnt include the sales tax. Where is that included in the costs?
With the fees.. how do people possibly sell things for $1 etc?
❤
Why would I get charged 6.60 listing fee on my first sale?? I ended up loosing money on this sale.
Hi. Am a new subscriber. I want to find out if it compulsory to order my own products on printify before i can make sales?
Hi Amshau! You do not have to order one of everything. When I first started I sampled a shirt, sweatshirt, and mug with designs that I liked or I could give to someone as a gift. You just want to get an idea of what the print looks like and the quality of the item!
Thank you for all your help. Could you tell me how you only pay $4 for shipping? Monster inc. is $8. Thanks.
Monster Digital is $4 shipping for a t-shirt and $8 for a sweatshirt
On Printify, when you set the prices there, they set it at a 40% profit margin. Do you see that as a good standard for pricing items? Do products sell well at that profit margin?
I would suggest research on etsy for what your item is selling for and price it as such. That's what I did.
Thank you for the video. If the sale was made on Etsy, will you still get charged the 15% off site ad fee?
The only time you get charged an offsite ad fee is if someone clicked an Etsy ad link on Facebook, Instagram or Google for example and then bought from you after clicking that link. If they came straight to Etsy to buy by themselves, then you just pay the normal Etsy fees.
@@CassiyJohnson Thank you so much for your response. I hope you could help me with two questions: Is there anyway to verify whether the buyer went directly through Etsy or if they went through a third party, like Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc.?
And lastly: my buyer has already made payment to Etsy for the merchandise, including the shipping. The buyer is an international buyer. The order is currently being processed. Etsy said it can take up to 72 hours to process or longer. Once Etsy emails me and says it's okay to ship, once I ship, is there anyway that the buyer could cancel payment after the merchandise ships? This is an expensive musical item ($2,800) and since this is my first sale, I am just afraid to be scammed.
I appreciate any advice you can share. Thank you again. Blessings!
@@davidscott2095 To see if an order was from offsite ads, you go to your stats page on Etsy, scroll about half way down and then you can see which of your sales were actually from offsite ads! Customers can't cancel an order from you unless you decide to give them a refund, or they open a case against you and etsy decides that you were in the wrong and they deserve a refund.
@@CassiyJohnson Thank you.❤
Thank you! Excellent video…. I do have a question. I made my first sale. T-Shirt priced at $24. Printify took $19 (production and shipping and Etsy fees were twice what you describe in this video… $5. Does Etsy charge .20 or other fees every time you edit listing in printify and publish Even if it’s the same listing that has already been published? How do others sell a shirts for $15? I am not on printify premium yet as I was told to get a few sales first…. Looking at what Etsy charged me for this first sale, it’s like I was charged every fee twice. I’m sure this was user error somewhere?
Also…. In reviewing my account side by side with your video, it looks like Etsy charged me all my listing fees at the time of this one sell? For example, I have 8 items for sale in my shop for a total of $1.60 in listing fees. Seems as if they took all those fees at once? Do they only take the 0.20 listing fee as an item sells or as soon as it’s listed or is this something that is billed say at the 1st of the month? Many thanks in advance!!
The listing fees get charged when you list the item for sale, then every time it sells again. If it doesn’t ever sell, then it will charge you again after 4 months to relist it if you have automatic renewals set up in your listings! Hope that helps clarify your issue. If you just edit a listing, it does not re charge you for the item.
Printify premium will make a big difference! And feel free to use my free month you get with my coupon code CASSIY30 for your first month free.
You mentioned main fees but I see many additional vat payments: VAT: shipping_transaction, VAT: transaction, VAT: Processing Fee. In the end your calculation is not precise and gives a rough number. Is that right?
So all of these fees are what applies here in the US, I have never sold internationally so you will have to include any other fees like VAT fees as well if you live somewhere else!
@@CassiyJohnson Yes it seems there is a lot more and it is more complex than most of the Etsy fees calculations I see on YT. I pay tax on transactions. An excel file I created for myself is pretty complex and long now ;)
For me when someone buys a product I get "X" amount minus buyers local sales tax minus
Renew Listing fee + vat
Listing Transation fee + vat
Shipping Transation fee + vat
Processing fee + Vat
So there is a lot more for most of us I think. I will work on my excel and offer it on Etsy as a digital download at some point ;)
Wait… So do you get charged for a listing fee every time someone purchases your item? 😮
Yes exactly, you pay a listing fee to "re list" the item every time someone buys it!
@@CassiyJohnson Ohh... isn't that only if you put the number of items you have as 1? What if you put like 999 since its POD? Also thank you for the reply! :)
Seems like one would have to sell a crap ton to make a living after fees, expenses and TAXES.
You can work for 40 hours per week for someone else the rest of your life or you can start your own business and grind until you sell a bunch and then it becomes more passive at some point. That is really where the worth of this business idea comes from. Having the flexibility to make your own hours and give yourself a raise whenever you want by working more!
The amount of money you can make with print on demand or any business you yourself owns is so exponential! No one gets rich working for someone else.
It’s so true nobody gets rich by working for somebody else
helo if you sell 600 or over do you have to pay imcom taxs local and federal do thay report taxes
