Thanks for showing this. I have a dull Beveler so here I am. That looks like it will do the trick nicely. Thanks again, Subbed and Liked.... Be well...
@@mcewenhandcraft you dont know what your talking about. You only sharpen the under side just like a chisel. After all, the tool is nothing more than a mini chisel. Learn how to sharpen implements properly so you teach others properly.
@@markallen3920 then why do ALL the professional sharpening tools for these bevelers sharpen in the groove? I'm honestly open to discussing this. But only if you stay civil on my channel please.
True. On any sharpened blade you have to address the burr like this. Why is it that the nasty people are usually so confident in their ignorance? I would say I would make the sandpaper as flat as I could around a squared of piece of card stock so that I wasn’t creating a scalloped bevel over time. Good stuff. Thanks!
No, u are sharpening wrong side. Don't learn from that. 2mm of sanding paste on the leather edge and pull back flatside a few times. Don’t even need inside sharpening.
@@jarimiettinen779 while I agree you can strip the outside quite often, but eventually that will stop working as the other side will develop burrs and youl need to address it. It's like a chisel.. you sharpen on the bevel mostly. But every so often you've got to address the flat.
Your angle might be off. It's also possible you have a bad temper on your tool. Weak metal doesn't hold a good edge. Honestly I'd have to look at it to tell you for sure what's wrong.
Very good I always try different techniques and apply knowledge for my own skills.
Thanks for the tip!

So helpful. Thank you!
Very helpful!
I've always just done the flat side, much easier and works fine. Basically a chisel, only need to work the easy side. :)
That only gets you so far and so sharp.
Eventually you need to work the inside angle too otherwise you wont have a very sharp beveler.

Actually a burr will occur on the top as a result of sharpening the bottom of the edger so it has to be done.
