I really like how in Arthur Christmas you think Steve is going become a twist villain because he wants to take the role of Santa forcefully and then he isn't that. He's just a regular person who goes through a character arc and realises that he's not worthy of becoming Santa.
yeah like i feel that steve was very much the 'golden boy' who placed all of his self worth on becoming santa and making christmas into a big buisness, but by the end of the film, he realised that he cant be santa, and thats ok, hes still enough.
Aardman Studios has an odd legacy. The studio went from a cel-animated short film about a British superhero name "Aardman" to creating Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, and other stop motion projects (excluding Flush Away since it's CGI) that are made with passion and effort. Look how far they've come now, at least they keep stop motion alive from being obscured out of the mainstream.
Wasn't the choice to make it CG partly because of Aardman's then recent fire? For what it's worth, they did a fairly good job of recreating the feel of stop motion for the time; not as good as the lego movie, but still pretty good for 2006. I've also heard that they were considering going partly for CG in the first place, since real water would damage the models, so they were going to render the water and other effects, and layer it ontop. Given they're making a sequel and sticking to the CG medium, I have to wonder how well it will replicate real plasticine models with our current tech.
@@Alizudo I saw it in a list with other Aardman sequels, like Chicken Run. Whether or not it's in the works, abandoned or 'just a maybe' I couldn't say.

Chicken Run has to be my favorite because 1) it's the only high-quality heroine-driven movie Dreamworks has made to date, and 2) Ginger is among the top five smartest, most resourceful female characters in all of Western animation. Growing up in the 70s and early 80s, I saw so many animated movies in which female characters came in three basic types: 1) dull, 2) evil, or 3) not there at all. So Ginger means a lot to me. She's just the kind of heroine I would love to see more of in Western animated movies. However, I can totally see why Arthur Christmas might be preferred. Arthur is an adorable protagonist, to be sure, and it's the most gorgeous-looking movie Aardman has made, with its brilliant North Pole world-building. It's a close-to-perfect holiday movie. My one nitpick is that I think Grand-Santa gets away with a little too much, with his flaws handwaved away with the excuse "well, he's just old"; his knee-jerk cruelty to Bryony, for one thing, made him a lot more annoying than lovable, for me anyway, and it disappoints me that Arthur, kind--hearted as empathetic as he is, doesn't stand up for her. And that throwaway line about "women learning to read" just... doesn't land with me. I don't see why it even needed to be in the movie at all. Still, it's a delightful movie, and it would be my #2 pick.

Band of Misfits! (9/10) 7. Early Man (9/10) 8. Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget (8/10) 9. Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon (8/10)
Seeing Arthur Christmas being at the top made me really happy. It easily my favourite Aardman feature (if you count the shorts though then the Wrong Trousers is obviously my favourite)
Arthur Christmas is a favorite of mine as well as my family’s, even among those who are stingy with animation as a concept. Also, I have to give props to Aardman as their worst movies are only their worst by default, which is a pretty good place to be.
While I don't quite care for Were-Rabbit (I only saw it once as a kid, and I remember being unnerved and unsure about some parts for whatever reason) I definitely agree with the rest of your top 4, with Pirates and Chicken Run being my faves. Chicken Run was one of the movies I loved rewatching most as a kid, and funnily enough I actually went to go see Pirates at the movie theater instead of going to my junior prom, lol
I know I already said I couldn't believe you made a Top 4 Best & Worst because the Chicken Run sequel is coming later this year, but it's still a good video. It'd be hard to figure out my favorite (and even least favorite), because as you said even the weakest movie from the studio wasn't bad, I'd agree with you. Though I haven't watched either of the Shaun the Sheep movies, yet I've been meaning to.
I don't think there should be a worst movie list for Aardman, I can tell they always put effort into all their projects. With that said, I don't think Early Man is the worst, I think that title for me goes to flushed away or the pirates one. My favourite is probably either Chicken Run or the WereRabbit and I am very cautious for the new sequel being that they replaced alot of the voice actors and it's over twenty years later!
Here are my opinion towards the Aardman Feature-Length Villains: *1. Anthony Trumper from Shaun The Sheep Movie (2015) is just a mean jerk of the Animal Containment Officer. *2. The Toad from Flushed Away (2006) has a tragic backstory and I feel very sorry for him. *3. Agent Red from A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmaggedon (2019) has a tragic backstory, I feel very sorry for her and She redeems herself at the end. *4. Lord Nooth from Early Man (2018) is the Weakest Aardman Villain, Because he is not Sympathetic as The Toad and Agent Red, He is not silent, but deadly as Feathers McGraw and Preston, and He is not threatening as Melisha Tweedy. *5. Queen Victoria from The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists! (2012) is a pirate-hating ninja warrior. *6. Victor Quartermaine from Wallace and Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit (2005) is an arrogant goldigging hunter. *7. Mrs. Melisha Tweedy from Chicken Run Duology (2000-2023) is the most threatening out of the Aardman Feature Length Movie Antagonists.
Great opinion tbh here's my list from worst to best: 7) Lord Nooth 6) Agent Red 5) Victor Quartermaine 4) The Toad 3) Queen Victoria 2) Anthony Trumper 1) Mr & Mrs Tweedy Feathers McGraw still greatest Aardman villain
@@mr.ghiblidude Very good. The reason why Lord Nooth is the weakest Aardman villain, Because he is not Sympathetic as The Toad and Agent Red. He is not silent, but deadly as Feathers McGraw. And He is not Threatening as Melisha Tweedy. I find Agent Red very redeemable. Victor Quartermaine is just an arrogant hunter, who wants to marry Lady Campanula Tottington for money. The Toad has a tragic backstory and he has a soft side towards his tadpoles. Queen Victoria is an Endangered Animal-Eating, Pirate-Hating Ninja Warrior. Melisha Tweedy is an Axe-Wielding, Chicken-Eating Prison Warden/Espionage Supervillainess.
@@rebeccaclarke2194 Yup tbh I find similarities between Victor & The Toad since they both made by DreamWorks & Aardman Victor and The Toad are voiced by popular actors named Ralph Fiennes and Ian McKellen And also they are both counterparts of Disney villains. Victor is Gaston from Beauty & The Beast and The Toad is Professor Ratigan from Great Mouse Detective
Chicken run is my favourite film. I love that Mr Tweedy thinks he's going insane because nobody believes the chickens are organised. Bring on Chicken Run 2
My ranking: 1. Chicken Run 2. Curse of the Wererabbit 3. Arthur Christmas 4. Shaun the Sheep 5. Pirates 6. Shaun the Sheep 2 7. Early Man 8. Flushed Away But I enjoy them all!

I think best & least good would have been better in the tile of this video instead of best and worst, since Aardman hasn’t (not yet at least) made any movies that are considered outright bad or awful.
The only reason I hate the farmageddon movie is because it just doesn’t feel like Shaun the sheep and when I would try to watch morph (the claymation version) I would just see alot of stuff about this random alien creature
My top 4 worst (to an extend) 4. The Pirates Band of Misfits 3. Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon 2. Flushed Away 1. Early Man Top 4 Best 4. Arthur Christmas 3. Wallace & Gromitt: Curse of the Were-Rabbit 2. Shaun the Sheep 1. Chicken Run
Leading up to number 1, I kept wondering what it could be since so many good ones kept getting mentioned, and then Arthur Christmas came up. 10/10 agree. Freakin masterpiece.
I have to thank my old school English book for telling me that Bristol exists and is actually cool (haven’t been there since I was a kid, maybe it sucks for adults or even kids now, feel free to let me know, Tommy’s). Anyway because of the book I got my dad to take me to Bristol when we first visited GB. Visiting the Aardman studios was really cool and my first introduction to actual filmmaking (up to that point I believed people moved the dolls and the hands where computer edited out). This and the Irish cartoon about the farm animals ( no idea what the English name is) were some of my favorite kids shows and movies and cemented my love for the British quirkiness (them also hating the French also really helps).
My only problem with The Pirates! is the... there's no other way to say it... ridiculously UNimaginative name of its main character! "Pirate Captain"?! Really?! You're telling me the people responsible for such a wealth of brilliant humor couldn't come up with anything other than naming him his profession?! That'd be like calling Wallace & Gromit "Inventor" and "Dog"!!
Whilst naming a character Pirate Captain can seem rather unimaginative to some (I was ok with it, would have been nice to have some actual names though), the Pirates movie was an adaptation of the Pirates! book series so it wasn't Aardman who named him Pirate Captain but the author, Gideon Defoe.
I will give you a fun fact about flushed away there are two actors I do recognize that is Ian McKellen and Andy serkis these two actors were from The Lord of the rings/Hobbit movies Andy serkis has the same one that played gollum AKA smeagol and he actually did the motion-capture for him and Ian McKellen is the same actor who played gandalf and all six of the Middle Earth Lord of the rings/Hobbit movies just wanted to give you a little bit of a fact about that.
Early Man was one of my biggest disappointments as a kid. I saw the trailer and expected a big, slapstick battle between the Bronze and the Stone. Then when I went to see it and realised it was a football film... yeah. I still liked it, but man I wish we got what I was expecting.
And it was made by Nick Park. The same guy who wrote and directed Chicken Run. Talk about how the mighty have fallen. I still respect the guy but I think he could've made a much better film

Shaun the Sheep Movie is my favorite, like you said in the video, its heart is incredibly strong. I think it's the strongest heart out of every Aardman film. Also, I think Farmagedddon and Early Man are better than Flushed Away.

Chicken Run was one of the movies I loved rewatching most as a kid, and funnily enough I actually went to go see Pirates at the movie theater instead of going to my junior prom, lol
Are you serious? 😦
……..THAT’S AWESOME!!! 🤩
I'd give it another chance.
I LOVE FLUSHED AWAY 😭 I’ve watched it so much I’ve almost completely memorised it 😢
I know I already said I couldn't believe you made a Top 4 Best & Worst because the Chicken Run sequel is coming later this year, but it's still a good video. It'd be hard to figure out my favorite (and even least favorite), because as you said even the weakest movie from the studio wasn't bad, I'd agree with you. Though I haven't watched either of the Shaun the Sheep movies, yet I've been meaning to.
I admittedly haven’t seen your videos in a long time but i’m happy to see you’re still going strong and still making great content
It’ll be fine, we still got 4 original voice actors!!
I had totally forgotten Arthur Christmas was an Aardman production.
All of them are good, even the “worse” ones are still great
Here are my opinion towards the Aardman Feature-Length Villains:
Great opinion tbh here's my list from worst to best:
7) Lord Nooth
6) Agent Red
5) Victor Quartermaine
4) The Toad
3) Queen Victoria
2) Anthony Trumper
1) Mr & Mrs Tweedy
Feathers McGraw still greatest Aardman villain
@@rebeccaclarke2194 Yup tbh I find similarities between Victor & The Toad since they both made by DreamWorks & Aardman
Victor and The Toad are voiced by popular actors named Ralph Fiennes and Ian McKellen
And also they are both counterparts of Disney villains. Victor is Gaston from Beauty & The Beast and The Toad is Professor Ratigan from Great Mouse Detective
@@rebeccaclarke2194 He's more advanced and charismatic but he's less cautious than Mr Tweedt
@@mr.ghiblidude Excellent, also He is more Intelligent as well as a Smart Cookie compared to Willard Tweedy, who is a great lummox by comparison.
Chicken run is my favourite film. I love that Mr Tweedy thinks he's going insane because nobody believes the chickens are organised. Bring on Chicken Run 2
My ranking:
1. Chicken Run
2. Curse of the Wererabbit
3. Arthur Christmas
4. Shaun the Sheep
5. Pirates
6. Shaun the Sheep 2
7. Early Man
8. Flushed Away
But I enjoy them all!
Fully Agree With Your Statement
I watch Arthur Christmas every Christmas Eve because I just love it so much.
And Pirates is one of my all time favourite films.
I do like them as a company who makes great animated films, but I wish they’d try a big action film, that’d be cool!
Do you know how long that would take to animate?
The worst part confused me like it started being like "I couldn't find a place to put it in the best list" to "no much to praise with one note characters" like wouldn't it make more sense to start with the one you have most critism for and not the one you said and I quote "I could nit pick an answer but I won't"
Flushed away is one of the funniest animated movies ive watched in years. I love every part about it
Top 4 worst
4) Flushed Away
3) Shaun The sheep
2) Shaun The Sheep: Farmageddon
1) Early Man
Top 4 best
4) Pirates
3) Wallace and Gromit: The curse of the Wererabbit
2) Arthur Christmas
1) Chicken Run
Why is the sorting of the numbers descending for your worst list while ascending for the best?
@@Fictionboy16 sorry, I was a bit tired, now I changed it
I honestly don't think there's one single aardman movie that I do not like I enjoyed each one especially chicken run Wallace and gromit and Shaun the sheep
I absolutely cannot wait for Aardman’s Star Wars short as apart of visions season 2. Who else is excited? If you’re not, then you aren’t an Aardman fan. “I am your mother!”
Well, i love Aardman, but i can't say i love Star Wars all too much, considering i've barely watched any of those films. I'm more of a Doctor Who kid. But i wish Aardman the best of luck on this new project, regardless.
@@worthybutter2004 I’m kind of the exact opposite. Star Wars and Star Trek forever to me.
@@BrennySpain That's fine. It's just i've never personally watched those two outside of maybe some parodies here and there. Yeah, probably not the best first exposure, but oh well.
@@worthybutter2004 spaceballs anyone? Lol
@@BrennySpain Yeah, i saw some clips of that.
The pirates…I absolutely *LOVED* that movie, it was such a great film from my childhood, it holds a special place in my heart ❤️
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget will be releasing on Dec 15th 2023.
Here is my list:
8. Early Man
7. Flushed Away
6. Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon
5. Shaun the Sheep Movie
4. Chicken Run
3. Arthur Christmas
2. Pirates Band of Misfits
1. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
I think best & least good would have been better in the tile of this video instead of best and worst, since Aardman hasn’t (not yet at least) made any movies that are considered outright bad or awful.
Flushed Away is so off brand for Aardman that I keep forgetting that they even made it
17:43 this one scene is pretty dark ESPECIALLY FOR A KIDS MOVIE
It's a crime they didn't cast Nick Frost to voice Sid The Sewer Rat
The only reason I hate the farmageddon movie is because it just doesn’t feel like Shaun the sheep and when I would try to watch morph (the claymation version) I would just see alot of stuff about this random alien creature
Are you going you do a updated version with chicken run dawn of the nugget
Early Man is very underrated in my opinion.
My 3 favorites are:
•chicken run
•flushed away
•Arthur Christmas
My childhood movies
Now that chicken run is now getting a second movie on Netflix I'm kinda excited for it.
Early Man is the only Aardman movie that I haven’t seen, but I can say I’ve enjoyed all of their other movies
Aardman studios is a company that never misses, every single movie they make is a banger
Bro i completely forgot that arthur christmas is a aardman movie, it looks nothing like aardman's usual style
Yeah I didn't care for Early Man as I just don't care for football.
I didn't know Arthur Christmas was an Aardman movie
My top 4 worst (to an extend)
4. The Pirates Band of Misfits
3. Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon
2. Flushed Away
1. Early Man
Top 4 Best
4. Arthur Christmas
3. Wallace & Gromitt: Curse of the Were-Rabbit
2. Shaun the Sheep
1. Chicken Run
It's all perfect but you neglected to take into account that flushed away is one of the greatest films of all time
The most unbelievable part of Arthur Christmas is that it snowed in Cornwall.
Leading up to number 1, I kept wondering what it could be since so many good ones kept getting mentioned, and then Arthur Christmas came up. 10/10 agree. Freakin masterpiece.
Breaking news: In December 2023 chicken run 2 is coming out. This isn’t fake news watch the trailer
They also announced that they will be working on a Wallace and Gormit sequel
@@akane7082 no way thanks man!
Not gonna lie. Flushed Away was a pretty decent film.
I actually have Flushed Away on DVD, I love it because it’s so darn funny.
Curse of the Were-rabbit does contain one of my favourite wordplay jokes ever.
If you ask me, this looks like arson
Arson?
Aye, someone arsen around
Arthur Christmas is my favourite christmas movie. Name a protagonist more likeable and heartwarming than Arthur, I don't know if you can.
SpongeBob
Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Curse of the wererabbit makes me hungry when the veg are being eaten
@@ThatGirlWithTheCards That makes sense.
Flushed Away is my favourite Aardman movie actually.
You’re “Shaky” about “Rocky”!
I find this so unintentionally funny!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favorites are Chicken Run and Flushed Away!
I love Arthur Christmas but Chicken run has Babs and her iconic line “I don’t want to be turned into a pie! I don’t like gravy”
Well my Favorite movie is the Wallace and gromit one. But one question what are your thougts about the chicken run sequel from 2023?
Here's my ranking of them:
8: Early Man
7: A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon
6: Flushed Away
5: The Pirates: Band of Misfits
4: Shaun the Sheep Movie
3: Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
2: Chicken Run
1: Arthur Christmas
I love Pirates. It’s one of my all time favorite movies. The jokes totally align with my sense of humor, and almost every scene fails to make me laugh.
See you made some improvements good for you
Shaun the Sheep Movie is my favorite, like you said in the video, its heart is incredibly strong. I think it's the strongest heart out of every Aardman film. Also, I think Farmagedddon and Early Man are better than Flushed Away.
Apart from though me personally not agreeing with your top pick really a great list👍
I like how the 1st worst aardman movie isn’t even subpar quatily and is still better than any other animation studio’s output.
i have never got how the chickens spent the whole movie trying to escape when rocky does it first try
Pixar: The British Pixar of Stop-Motion
I genuinely think curse of the ware rabbit is the best aardman film its really really really good imo
Aardman is unbelievable
I love how Ardman was invited to star wars visions and what they make, wjile not very original, is filled with the classic ardman style and british feel
I always forget Arthur Christmas is an aardman movie. Definitely agree with the top 2
I love flushed Away Wallace And Grommet chicken run
I can wait to see Chicken Run 2 😁😁😁😁
The pirates was my childhood and I still watch it today
Agreed. Arthur Christmas is amazing!
Great vid!
