    Christine I'm thrilled that you showed how to go through with making the bag with the mistake because it's something that I would DEFINITELY do fresh and wide awake! And with this video I got to learn 2 ways to make a bag for a little girl instead of just one. It's like a BOGO! I absolutely adore your videos and your style of teaching. Keep 'em coming PLEASE!

      I was watching a lady on UA-cam only last week Christine,and this is the way she made her bag. I like it this way. What would the measurements be for an adult tote bag please.xx

      Tina, I'd probably do 18" W x 18" (or 20") H 😀

    Hi Christine I actually love the look of this bag with this "accidental design feature"and I love the outer fabric peeping through the inside seam it adds more interest... it also makes the lining sturdy too... Please do make more how to vids I always enjoy your content thank you 🙋🏻‍♀️💞🌹

    Hi Christine, I love this bag with your 'accidental' design! My 6- and 7 year-old granddaughters want to learn to sew and these longer pieces will be easier for them. We'll skip the boxed corners, unless they want them. Thank you!!

    Lovely fabrics. Turned out ok in the end. I've seen bags sewn this way on purpose anyway :)

  • @lorainejones2375

    I wondered what your outcome would be in the end. I like your solution. I would add a sew- in Velcro (hook and loop tape) closure to the bag. Thank you for wonderful tutorial!

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  2 роки тому

      Thanks Loraine. I agree. I think I'd put a magnetic closure on in the future.😀

  • @ChristineKrannich

    My solution when I did the same error once was to add binding around the sides and bottom. I did not box the corners on that one but added a patch pocket to the outside on one side. No one knew the difference and I got additional needed binding practice!

    I’m teaching my littles to sew and this is a perfect design, I actually think the “flawed” way will be easier for them to do. I don’t want them to get frustrated with doing separate lining, they’ll be plenty of time for that.

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely Tina. The simpler the better so the little ones enjoy it more😀

    Love the inclusion of the mistake! I’ve been sewing for a looooong time, and I still make mistakes like yours all the time! It makes me feel better to know that even the really good sewers do these things.

    I love how you break down steps to only what is necessary. Would this be considered a designer bag for the red carpet? No, but you do not represent it as such! It’s a basic tote. Love it!

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  2 роки тому

      Christine, I think I'm a little too casual for any red carpet desgns. The pressure for perfection would frustrate me too 🤣😆😎

    TBH that's not bad as far as mistakes go. In fact, no one would have been the wiser if the mistake hadn't been pointed out. I think the bag is cute, with nice fabric and well-finished edges.

    I see nothing wrong with this tote. It seems to me that this ‘method’ is probably faster. Your Jack machine has that awesome triple stitch option (I have been researching the brand!) that allows you to sew three parallel lines of stitching in one go, increasing your speed even more.
    Make the bag a hair wider, take a slightly wider inseam with the triple stitch, and - as you rightly observed - the “design feature” will be even more noticeable, especially so when your interior and exterior fabrics are contrasting. Also, if you were to tack the boxed corner triangles to the bottom, it would add stability to the bag.
    This is a very sweet tote for a child, and would make a nice trick-or-treat bag, too.

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Рік тому

      Thanks Sharon. Jack is a great brand, and the triple stitch is a great option😁

      Thanks Tanya. In this video, I had sewn the side seams incorrectly. It's been a while since I've made it, so it may have been French seams, but the next one (black bag) would show you what I should have done😁

    but on the bag I would have done a French seam

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  2 роки тому

      I do love a French seam, but in this case it wouldn't have worked as I had sewn the bag the wrong way in the first place. The lining and main should have been done seperately🤣🤣
