Sneak peek from Jack Antonoff's Inside the Track series, in which he shows you how he (insert what he does 'mixes" produces".
We’re very proud to present our first video release with songwriter, musician, and record producer Jack Antonoff! In this series, we learn about how the versatile creator got involved in songwriting, recording, and production, and progressed from his analog roots to current approaches and techniques. Antonoff imparts his opinions and philosophy on such vital matters as vocal style vs. lyrics, writing sessions, capturing emotion and space, analog vs. digital equipment, simultaneously writing and producing, committing to takes and sounds, collaboration, sharing a vision, avoiding vocal booths, mixing your own productions, and more. He dives into the multi-track session of ‘The Greatest’ by Lana Del Rey, taking you through the initial guitar chord progression from which the song was developed, early demo material, unusual decisions regarding instrumentation and levels, lyrical arrangement, and a variety of parts that includes acoustic guitars, piano, Mellotron, drums, cellos, synthesizers, vocals, and electric sitar!

Its great hearing someone talk about the process rather than the gear
I feel like I just consumed 10,000 different great pieces of advice in 7 minutes
The same guy who produced two of the greatest albums of the last decade, "Melodrama" and "Norman F***in Rockwell"
Respect 👊🏻
He's been involved in a LOT of great music in the last few years. He seems to be a special talent.
@@danielkoschalka3955 yess, his other projects like MASSEDUCTION, ARIZONA BABY and folklore are just amazing!
@@amarthya_ravi JACK DID ARIZONA BABY??????
@@NelsenGChess Yep!
@@amarthya_ravi wow this is news to me i thought it was just kevin and romil
this took the sadness out of saturday night
I don't wanna hear it that phrase is triggering me ;-;
🍅
The Mic is solid
This is literally the name of his upcoming album lol
"He has served as the co-writer or co-producer on albums by Taylor Swift, Lorde, Kevin Abstract, The Chicks, Lana Del Rey, and St. Vincent, and has written and produced individual tracks for artists including Pink, Sara Bareilles, Fifth Harmony, Troye Sivan, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Sia, among many others."
Just got educated a bit, and introduced. 👍🏽
and lorde! :)
I love that he doesn’t like vocal booths. It makes sense to not be fixated on the vocal alone as it is the arrangement of the whole thing. He uses it as a an add on at times. He prioritizes the feeling and Sonics and adds in the vocals. He is very authentic in creating and I appreciate that.
The way he talk about music is really lovely, you can perceive his love and knowledge on his words. Jack is really talented, i'm totally immersed in his music
He is one of the best songwriters of our generation. Period.
Jennifer Smith I agree :)
well everyone is
What did he write?
I’d say he’s more of a producer, but yes Jack is a musical genius
Lé Polisher how did you get here?
So true. There’s a sweet spot in songwriting where the song & lyrics mature just enough, but you haven’t lost the spontaneity yet. It’s rarely perfect.
One of the greatest all-around musicians in the industry..everything he said was so true
Dudes a true producer, in the old school sense. Like a George Martin, or a Ted Templeman. Norma F’n Rockwell and the latest 1975 album are legit brilliant
I can listen to jack talking about his passion 😍 one of the most talented and genius of our generation
This mans songs are beautifully melodic and heartrenching while having the most euphoric production style,
Definitely this generations true master
So happy that Fun. ended so this guy could really show the world what hes capable of. One of the greatest to do it in the 2010s. Cant wait to see who he works with next. As a musician, hes one of the only producers i know of who i just know we would have amazing artistic chemistry. What a fascinating special person
I'm ready for some new Bleachers
Best recording advice ever, capture those early moments
so rare, Jack is a legend
Hey check the first paragraph of the description
😂 templates
😂😂😂 insert a heavy amount of 80s goodness 😂😂
LOL
someone messed it up
lmaooo
Ugh seeing him and Lana recording "Looking for America" tho 🖤
everything he said about vocals rang so true right here 👏🏻
I love the passion in his expression. I love this man.
I would love to have a conversation with him.
WHAT A VIDEO!! Jack is the best
This is such a great interview! Jack has inspired me as producer & engineer on a massive level.
thanks for uploading this one! love jack
Jack did an excellent job in folklore 🥺💖
explaining the inexplicable
I think 'I don't believe in vocal booths' is lowkey such a great comment
He deserves everything!
I love jack!
That was great!
One of my fave songs from Mass Education. Cool to hear this.
ugh his mind
Genius.
Holy wow man, Jack Antonoff is truly a genius. Seeing Bleachers live in November, 2021. I can't wait
nice. Helpful. Inspiring.
Thank you
Down to earth, no bullshitttt just a good dude. No ego like Kanye. Just fkn cool.
So good
I love this guy
Mind-blowing! For someone like me who is just starting out in the world of audio mixing, this leaves me like this 😮😮😮😮
he’s so fucking brilliant oh my god
2:20 that's Lana
no that is taylor
That is so true, my demo vox is always better than my final. wahh!
Dude so true about when you dust off that one piece and your like , woah woah , don’t move I found it, lol cuz if your careless your just like oh yeah that was cool whatever I’m sure there’s plenty more and soon you realize that that was gem, I do this when jamming on acoustic a lot, I’ll freestyle something epic first try with some random progression off feel and then I’m like yeah dope I’m grooving , and I just keep digging with my pickaxe instead of switching to my brush and end up smashing the treasure . Thanks for articulating this . Abstract af lol 😆
wowww
He help to do 1989, Melodrama, Norman Fucking Rockwell! and Thank U Next right?🤯
the greatest by Lana del rey is a really nice song he coproduced
the man's a prophet
Hi daddy antonoff
Ok good, glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. LOL
Hey guys. The first line of your description is incomplete lmao.
All do Taylor’s vocals are like doubled and stacked with reverb and the best reverb on her vocals I think
Bring back FUN.
that was a great band
hey bestie i think u forgot to update the description
This was very interesting in spite of me hating his music
Haha I thought the same thing. Never been a fan of his music or the artists he speaks of in the video, but I can respect the hard work and expertise that went into it. He seems very passionate and genuine, and after watching this I’m more open to hearing anything with his name attached.
I love Lana so much but I laughed 😂😂
Looks like a young Rick Moranis.
I want that shirt.
Aaron Powers cool!
Jim Sting: Mister Potato Head! Mister Potato Head! Back doors are not secrets!
Malvin : Yeah, but Jim, you're giving away all our best tricks!
"yeno"
side note: he has great skin.
love that he doesn’t believe in vocal booths
Last!
St Vincent sound like the mids were ran thru the meat grinder
They are making Ghostbusters again... and Moranis is old.
Once upon a time I handed jack antonoff my first EP as an indie artist knowing him as the lead singer from steel train. Little did I know. Partially embarrassed at what I handed him in hindsight, hah.
Hes weird.👀
@No go hide, u losers.👈👀
really? he seems cool and a good intelligent person lol
unfortunate name
This is your takeaway? Unfortunate personality
In 7 minutes of only talking, nothing was really said
Nah you just didn’t know what to listen to
ive come back to this video 3 separate times for ref bc its an endless well
