My dad worked for IH. I used to get "paid" to help with inventory every year by picking out a toy or model. The Pay Hauler 350 was one of my favorites. The rams were tricky. I painted the rams silver, and assembly had to be patient so they wouldn't lock up...careful sanding and just a toothpick tip of petroleum jelly in the right places. I always liked the "New" look, but your weathering looks great.
I just picked up the AMT/Round2 version of this kit. The box art is the same, minus the ERTL stuff and the kit inside is molded in color just like the original. However this kit looks like it has a grey cab and the new kit is white. Very nice kit and I got it for $61.00 at Hobbytown USA. Skip the high priced Ebay stuff unless you are collector and just have to have an original. This new version is the same thing as the original.
I bought a vintage ERTL Blueprinter International Transtar II to build my Dad's truck from Schneider. It too is a fantastic kit! Even more so when you see that it's from 1974! Your review shows me I'm in for more of the same with this kit. I've seen the Pay Hauler going for crazy money. AMT has just re-released this kit under $100 and mine is on the way. I'm just wondering if it will be molded in colors as the original or if it will come in standard AMT grey. It will be easier to airbrush the yellow over yellow.(I generally don't prime, just wash the plastic really well.) I have to say I am a huge fan of the Blueprinter series and I too hope more get re-released in the future. (I actually see an International IH433nPay Scraper build in the side bar now so I'm gonna check that out!)
