I have owned the original R25 since it came out. Great pack, but the lack of waterproofing meant I only could use it if I was sure the weather would hold. I got an R16 a few years back which had the waterproof liner like the new R25 v2. It’s the same design as the US Drypacks, so I know they can hold up to a deluge of rain. Biggest downside of the main waterproof section is it’s a dumping ground, with no organization. However, the bright white interior makes it easy to see things, so practically it’s not a problem. My R16 doesn’t have a second pocket, so you only have the main waterproof section. With ~5 liters of the R25 v2 set aside for quick access items, this can be very helpful for items that don’t need to be water proof like keys.
I’ve had the V1 version for years and sadly after 8 years use one of the straps failed. Kreiga’s customer service was hands down one of my best after sales experiences. Replaced my bag no argument. Outstanding bags, awesome customer service. I wouldn’t buy anything else.

Wait, so the dedicated laptop compartment is the only part of the bag that isn't waterproof? seems less than ideal
