Nella gloria e nella luce. Romantic E minor concerto, which has since gained some popularity among concert flautists. Mercandate studiet flute, violin end composition at the conservatory in Naples, Rossini said to the conservatory Director, Niccolo Zingarelli, “My compliments, Maestro - your yaung pupil Mercandate begins where we finsh” (!) It is amazing Viotti style! Thank you "HarpsichordM".
Fritz Henker Phiharmoniker/Hamburg, one of the greatest German Bach Soloisten ,played and recorded many festivals and concerts. In one of my dad's letters ,he is telling me, that he was asked by J.P.Rampal ( he knew Rampal from Bach concerts in Germany) to play with him in big concert tour around the U.S. It was in the 70s. if some one knows any recordings or pictures from those concerts, please let me know !
Jimmy Gaway as a sense of style that brings me to say he is better than Rampal. Maybe just because Jimmy born after Jean, absorbing Jean as the Moyse exerience. Both Masters, of course
@@apossemiers Don't know in general, but am currently listening to his and Galway's rondo from this concerto and Galway certainly wins for me, even though this one is brilliant too. Both Galway and other musicians are sharper, more urgent which fits the composition better.
@@Buddy-xe3tg take an example: writing. You hold the pencil in your hand and write. When can you write nice? When you squeeze your fingers together (with force) and tense up your arm or when you take a comfortable relaxed state. This applies to the flute. If you have tension in your lips (fingers) and throat (arm) your tone will be thin, sharp. If you are tense you cannot make tiny little adjustments, so you are not flexible. (Uncontrollable as I mention in my previous comment)
Saverio Mercadante's Flute Concerto is absolutely marvellous, so beautiful!
😀Jean-Pierre Rampal is a great musician. Thank you!

Siamo in piena musica operistica napoletana.
Mercadante et un superbe Rampal.
Bellissima!
Fantastic. Thank you.
Beautiful! Thanks for posting!
My R.I.P Sister played this concert at the age of 12 for a diploma at a music school :) it was 2012 :(
Sorry
God bless her forever.
It's a beautiful piece of music that I have just recently discovered. Sorry for your loss.
God bless her, so sorry
"Rondo" reminds me of my amazing friend - who passed her driving licence the first time!
It's a strange memory you have of your friend. From 14:45 onwards it sounds pretty much like hara-kiri. I hope she does not drive like that 😋
Saludo!

Tremendously sad that Mercadante is THAT unknown today 😥. I heard this concert live played by Zofia Neugebauer and it was an awesome experience.
COM JEAN PIERRE Rampal , tudo fica belo !
He was wonderful

is it just me or is the orchestra some times not with him? or is it a wanted effect?
Youre right. I think that comes from his breathing rhythms
8:31 is always stressful to play with double tongue and the octave julps downwards. Just realised Rampal is cheating here, partly 😉

Galway cannot even make a controllable tone...
@@Buddy-xe3tg could you rephrase it? Because I do not get what you are trying to say
