I've been binge watching your videos and I'm wondering if you know what classification of a job the helicopter pilots who fly people around the clear possible avalanches are? In my state we have a couple of mountains that are used for snowboarding and after a heavy snowfall they send a helicopter up to drop sticks of dynamite in the snow to start avalanches so they don't have to worry about it happening when snowboarding opens. Would be a cool thing to answer in a video if you're not too busy although I'm happy to have it answered here. Also maybe who they work for, private, state, etc. And possibly how one would get into that job although I assume it's a very low hour job.
@@deekamikaze im not sure whatbyou mean about classification? The pilots I know that do avalanche bombing usually work with the Parks agencies and are trained in the use of explosives. They dont use dynamite. Its a special explosive that has a fuse inserted into the charge while in flight then dropped onto the desired spot. The pilots do lots of other flying depending on the company and are not just dedicated to avalanche control.
Can you keep putting out videos like this one?! I am just starting to look into aviation, and I loved this video!! I don’t have the money for school yet so these videos are how I’m beginning to learn. I would love a video explaining how weather conditions affect flight!!!
Glad you like it Tyler. Have a look through all my videos as I do have some in weather. You can also check out the articles in my blog which also cover it too!
Great video. I didn’t know about the sprag clutch. That’s good if you have an engine failure. Is a tail rotor failure in a hover a real danger? I remember the Leicester city football club helicopter crash.
Any tail rotor failure can be a mess! If you are over a flat surface, low hover and you catch it quick enough its a none event. However, if you are in an OGE hover lifting a sling load with trees below you then you need some serious luck on your side to walk away from the wreckage!!
