I love Shimo-Kitazawa! Funny enough, I also went there for an anime pilgramage, though for an older series; I am a fan of Someday's Dreamers II, which was an anime series that came out in 2008 and also took place in Shimo-Kitazawa. Shimokita reminds me of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury, back in the 80s and 90s. I'd love to visit Shimokita again one of these days!

The series was more true-to-life, down-to-earth type of drama and the magic isn't like it came out of a fairy tale or fantasy novel. Anyway, hope you check it out somehow. Once again reminding all artists that using reference photos is something you should be doing instead of trying to conjure every image you draw from your head. Art's been done like that since before the renaissance, a lot of newer artists inspired by anime kinda just forget that and assume that all of it is just out of imagination. Reference is how you learn, and save time, and just get things right when needed.
