Found a good deal for a new Seiko snk807k2 and since I don't have a military watch or anything from this brand it was the perfect moment to order. Can't wait to deliver.
The AliExpress watches have cousins that are also interesting; Tandorio has a 37mm field w/ a textured dial and a date complication running the NH35. For its price it’s a great value. The Militado VH31 also has an Escapement Time cousin that offers alternate dial colors, so there’s lots of variety out there in the field space. Thanks for another great review Olivier!
Excellent list sir! And I agree, the Seiko SRPG is my favorite amongst the affordable Seiko 5 range. As well as the SRPE. Thanks for putting this together!
I just bought the militado during the last sell. I have 8 inch wrists or I would own the Hamilton khaki field 38mm mechanical. I know they make it in a 42mm but seems like that would be to big for that classic style. That militado scratches that itch and for around 40$ it's a hell of a watch.
A good selection, the Seiko 5 would be my choice as the Hamiltons are becoming quite expensive now. The only field watches I have are a VSA Infantry quartz (37/38mm, white dial, green canvas strap) and the same watch as an automatic but with a black dial and a brown leather strap. Got a good deal on these ~15 years ago, really like them and they have been great watches. I wonder what happened with VSA, they are still around I think but seemed to disappear from bricks and mortar retailers in the late 2010s?
Good job, Oliver! Defining a "Military Watch"; what did George S Patton wear while in uniform? Did he consider it a military watch. I have the Hamilton with the older ETA-2801-2 movement (@48 hr power reserve). Love that thing, wear it a lot, but I wouldn't buy a new one at $600.
Is the Hamilton worth the price? I understand they have a great legacy of military watches. I just don't know if they're twice, thrice, or even four times better than some of the others on this list. The Seiko and Boderry seem like much better value. I also like the Boldr Venture, but maybe that's not a true military watch.
Thanks ! .. ... ) ... .. du coup je m abstiens .. Merci pour toutes tes vidéos ! amicalement Olivier ...
Your title says field watches, not military watches and though field watches may have had a military origin, many professions and activities are "in the field" where a tough watch is wanted - hikers, backpackers, biologists (numerous types), paleontologists, archaeologists, geologists, glaciologists, surveyors, nature photographers, etc. Given this and the early advertising of the Explorer (mountaineering), it would have to be classified as a field watch, though modern iterations do seem a bit too citified. A number of Ali brands make clomages which don't have applied indices so are closer to the early Explorers like the 1016.

Just bought the Tandorio field watch. Excellent build quality with a sapphire crystal and screw down crown. I plan to get a few more.
Thank you so much! Yes those are great alternatives as well, thank you for mentioning them 👍
Great info. Thanks
Thanks Olivier, a very interesting list of military Time keepers.😊
Thank you so much my friend 👍

Both Seiko 5 models offer the best value in the range 👍
The Kingsbury MS4, sub-$200 and absolutely perfect.
Amazingly enjoyable video with interesting watches, cheers.

@@nickfoster3637 totally, I'm glad the Militado suits you 👍👍
I have the Boderry Voyager titanium. Worth buying. I like it.
I wear my Rolex Subby quite often. But I still love my Citizen and Bulova and wear them often.
Great video, as always!

Great review as usual. 👌🏼

@@jayhenry2197 to speak honestly it depends what you are looking for. Heritage and movement are on Hamilton's side. Bang per buck definitely Boderry
Let me add a favorite of mine. Cestrian Field Series. What a watch for 190 euros from amazon de

Whoa, what’s the Illinois watch at 1:26? That’s cool
the term does roll off the tongue. Maybe use it in your review of the submariner! 😊
Thank you

Wish Seiko would make a field/ military watch with sapphire crystal ..
@@garrycleak3055 so they should....and not charge $700 for it

You are right, I changed the title from Field to Military, thanks for the feedback 👍
2:43 This was an A17, you said A18. 😊
Not a single reference to the Bulova Hack watches??? Given an actual rich military history ???
Could buy a Vostok Komandirskie or Amphibia, real Russian military watches.
Lots available from Ukraine as well as Russia.
“Daddy of dive watches”?
Sorry, daddy of military watches 😔
Great list. I would have added the Seiko SNK381K1
Thanks!
SNK381K1 with black or green nato strap. My field watch, i like it, but it has a very imprecise movement 😢
Bertucci should definitely be right there, among a couple others. Not a.good list.
The Boderry is a Bertucci homage and not as good in my opinion.
