In your opinion, is there a limit of weight with the setup that would leave you wanting a little more power? I.E throwing some heavier junk and bigger fish? Torn between the two right now haha. Thank you Jonathan! The model Matt was using here was the 590-4, as he was wanting to show it's versatility, but usually the 596-4 or 5100-4 are his go-to nymphing setups as the extra length of those helps with improved mending and reach when dedicated nymph fishing.
That is the RIO Xtreme Indicator though we would suggest the RIO Indicator line vs the Xtreme Indicator for wade fishing. That line wasn't out yet when this was filmed unfortunately. But either are solid options for dedicated nymphing applications. Typically we suggest the Xtreme Indicator line for drift boat nymphing and the Indicator line for wade fishing or from an anchored position.
@@Sageflyfish1980 gotta disagree with this recommendation, read this and got the non extreme version and it’s designed for fishing way too long to be practical in most of my wade fishing situations where there are lots of cross currents - wish I went with the extreme
Picked up the 9 foot 5 weight here in the uk ….. it’s an expensive bit of kit but it really is amazing ….. it loves the Rio gold line too!
