  • If you’re a fan of Chris Farley, you need to check this out 🙌 Bob Odenkirk shares stories, admiration, and reflection on his experience working with his friend - the late great comedic legend, Chris Farley.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, Mr. Show) joins us this week to talk about the ‘perfect amount of fame’ he’s been able to develop through everything from Mr. Show and SNL to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Bob opens up on his innate cynicism he has and how it’s uncomfortable for him to interact with people not on that same wavelength. This is a great episode folks, we also get into the idea of expected attention, some frustrating experiences on the set of Better Call Saul, and the tragedy of how Chris Farley’s life played out.

Exactly! I’ve been a fan since his days doing “Mr. Show” on HBO with David
Cross. He put his work in, and then some, and to see him have such massive success now, with “Better Call Saul” and the upcoming action film “Nobody” where he’s kicking ass and shooting guns, I’m so happy for him.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone who helped invent an iconic character like Matt Foley cutting off some fan from doing their own street impression. Also, yes, let Odenkirk talk. When you're interviewing people, you set up your question and you let them talk and then find ways to help the conversation continue to flow when there's space. Otherwise you're just waiting for people to stop talking so you can talk.

Of all the movies made out of SNL skits in the 90s like Waynes world, Its pat, stewart Smalley etc Its a real loss that a Matt Foley movie was never made.

In case anyone doesn't know the interviewer is the creative force behind Workaholics. He played the drug dealer. That being said......he has no right to try to interject himself in ANY Farley stories. I love how Bob called him out in a sly manner..."you said you were friends with Chris?". Interviewer....well I hung out with him a couple of times. THATS how you insult someone while being a nice guy.

Bob's one of the best creative minds in Hollywood, he has the biggest show on Netflix, and he has an upcoming film that will propel him into the next phase of his career, yet people still lead with Farley, knowing how close they were, and how badly it ended. I've hear him talk about it, and as much as Bob loved him, I know it still hurts.

Lol you think it's bad someone leads off with Farley in an interview with Bob? Try being David Spade *arguably Farley's best friend* who still to this day gets constant Tweets along the lines of "Too bad you didn't die instead of Chris," and who's memory boils down to "he was in Tommy Boy/Black Sheep with Farley" or "did SNL skits with Farley"...

I can’t believe Bob Odenkirk when he says the funniest thing he ever wrote was the Chris Farley motivational speaker skit. I never liked Chris Farley, and I never thought he was funny. Comparing Farley to John Belushi is an insult to John Belushi. I didn’t like John Belushi in Animal House, nor did I like Animal House, but his performance as Joliet Jake in The Blues Brothers was the work of a master comedian.
