Oh man Geister Geister Schatzsuchmeister was a huge hit with my family! My 5 1/2 year old daughter and my 7 1/2 year old son picked up on it really quick (the basic rules, not the advanced). We didn't even need to print the english version of the rule book. We just watched this youtube video where Brian yu explained it very clearly. Their was lots of cheering and high fives. We lost both games with the last gem one turn from escaping both times yet both times we still had a blast even though we lost. It was a HUGE hit for us and I think it's highly underrated in the USA because it's only released in german. Their is a reason this won the 2014 kinderspiel des jahres award. The game is awesome! Fun, beautiful, exciting for both kids and adults. This just strikes the right balance of challenge and simplicity that makes it ideal for family play. This is the new #1 game in our house right now! It's that good! Check it out! Don't hesitate, just get it. It's worth it! Superb game! Great job Brian! THANKS!
English version available!!! Search for Ghost Fightin Treasure Hunters! Just ordered this off amazon for family game night. There is a comment late in the discussion about the lack of interest in roll and move games... but that is one of the reasons I ordered it - I like story line roll and move games with card variables. Thanks, and can cant wait to play!
Im late to the party on this one (2022) congrats to brian for a great game! When me n my ex get together for game nite, this is always one we play. It must be thrilling for brian to not only see his game in production, but to play it with folks havin a great time with it.
Great game! And now it's in Toy's R Us! Congrats! Really interesting to hear how it was designed completely abstract with the cubes, and a great sign of a perfect theme when, frankly, from the other side here it's really hard t separate the perfectly matched theme to to the game. Awesome!
Board Game Newbie here. Found this today for 50 bucks. I dont have a group of friends into tabletop games so hoping this gives the kids the urge to get into it
That is the Lego Blockade Runner 10019. The models in the background are from Lego's Monster Fighters, Haunted House 10228 and Haunted House 10228. The Arkham Asylum Breakout Set 10937 (really awesome) is also back there.
Good episode and interesting game. At the beginning I was "ugg roll and move..its Ghost Story done Talisman style...". But after watching its not quite that bad. I do think it depends a bit too much on that mechanic..just seems like it needed a few more interesting choices then it has. Its roll, draw card, move, fight a ghost or not, pickup treasure or not. Just seems like one or two more mechanics could have made the game really interesting. Just seems a bit to simple overall mechanics wise.
i never thought i'd say this but Brian needs to come up with an expansion to make it harder also spaces on the board for the locked door and reclaimed treasures to go would be nice
Soooo, who owns the corellian corvette in the background? And what are the model castles for in the far back? I've wondered that since episode 1! I want to see more of your models!

So... This video came out 3 okt. 2013 and the game came out just in Germany. Has that changed over the year and it got an english release also? This seemed fun and I really liked it. Don't understand german at all. :P

brian, you said if you end up in a room with a ghost you "can" fight it. the rules sau you "must" fight. which? also, if you pick up a treasure and lose the ghost fight do you have to stay and fight on subsequent turns until you defeat it? what if there are 2 ghosts in that room? must you defeat both before leaving?
Green ghosts do not restrict movement of any kind. Only red hauntings can restrict your movement IF you are carrying a gem. There is no reason to avoid fighting a ghost. There's no penalty if you don't win. So it's always better to try to fight it.
@@nitni0002 If I am in a room with another player and am trying to defeat a haunting do we only roll the black dice or do we roll the white dice and draw a card and also roll the black dice as well?
@@jayster426 at the start of your turn, you will always have to roll the white dice first and draw a card if it's 1-5. You never get to skip the white dice. You can decide to move based on that roll (unless you're carrying a gem, you're stuck there). If you decide to stay in the room, you then roll both black dice (since there's another player in the room) to try to defeat the haunting.

Yes, but it ends his movement.
In the German rules it is stated that the doors also count as fields the win technically doesnt count

She did not have a treasure so it had no effect on her.
