I’m 67 and I’ve made many mistakes in my life. Looking back, God got me through it. I’m a professional dummy but I’m smarter now than I was at discharge. I answer to God and He knows me better than I know myself. Excuses are lies we tell ourselves to avoid responsibility.

Finding the Lord cured a lot of my excuses for the things I did wrong. Man, on that day, I had to own up to a lot. It was painful. I had to ask for a lot of forgiveness. But all of that is off my shoulders and my conscience now. That makes it all worth it.

There's too many dishonorable people for integrity to really matter.
Most people in leadership positions got there through a combination of nepotism and other weasel tactics for the most part.
Honest leaders are a minority, but they do exist.

My Navy brother, I served on the USS Enterprise V1 Division. I was a blue shirt. Its almost like you are telling my story. I was in operation earnest will and operation praying mantis. When I look back on that time in my life I realize that you are 100% correct when you said we were boys trying to do a man's job. As of today, I am living the dream in SW Florida. But now is the time in my own personal growth to begin to give back and pay it forward to bring the cycle of healing and personal growth to other struggling veterans.
Because of your influence which has given me a much-needed kick in the ass, I am finally getting myself squared away and my family and I are starting a non-profit group to support our veterans, and to catch newly separated vets before they begin to have struggles so that we might spare them the suffering that "Light Affliction" that we all know so well. Thank you so very much bro.

Taking accountability is becoming more and more rare nowadays. Thanks for bringing this up Chadd. Love your truck talks. Dont agree every time on everything, but 90% I do and that's more than enough to keep me coming back. I'm 46 and kinda old school. It's ok to occasionally agree to disagree. Younger generation doesn't seem to understand that as much. They either want to cancel you or fight ya. Also, love it when Chad refers to people as fat turds 😂..

I am admitting right here that I do not do what I need to in order to take care of myself and I make excuses for why I don’t. I am the heaviest I’ve ever been. A year ago, I fell and broke my wrist AND my ankle. I broke my ankle on the same leg that I shattered in a fall 24 years ago and I have 18 screws and 2 plates holding it together from right above my knee to halfway down my calf. So now I also have screws in that ankle. I know it would be easier to get around if I lost weight but I don’t stick to a diet. I don’t know what I need to do other than stop eating and quit being a slug! I’ve gotta get my mind right - I know I can do it and I would feel much better. Thank you Chadd for all you do to motivate people - I am so glad I found your channel - it was meant to be. ♥️🙏🏻

I've done this for a long time BUT let it SLIP on one occasion where I allowed my emotions to feed into me playing the 'blame game', wallowing in 'victimhood'. And I can see how that's been absolutely detrimental to my ability to move forward it this specific arena of my life. Time to grow up, own it, forgive myself and all involved, and move FORWARD.

That's fantastic advice and generally agree 110%, in a regular world . However, today's leadership isn't what it used to be and you could have a target on your back just because of a personality conflict and or they just don't like you so they whip something up. If there's a order from up the chain your immediate supervisor is just gonna follow orders if they agree with it or not. Love your message for sure but there are occasions ,in my opinion, when you do have to stand up for yourself or they will use your agreement for ammunition, yearly evaluations etc. They are not always right and ultimately it depends on if your on solid ground or not also.

I made a big mistake in my military career in 1990. It cost me my dream of becoming a Green Beret. After being selected 1 of the 75 who made it through selection and going thru 18c training and getting ready to go thru Robin Sage , i allowed my emotions and my immaturity to be exposed and made a decision that got me taken out of training. I received orders to the 82nd while waiting for a decision to return to training. We were deployed to Desert Storm in August. I received orders to go back and finish phase 3. We were on the verge of going into Iraq and i turned those orders down to return back to the states. One of the things that hunts me was having to strip off the Special Forces tab from my uniform 2 weeks from Graduation.
No ones fault but my own. I have to live with that.

I lived the life of making excuses for being a turd. I spent 27 years in the military...not all active. It took me a long time to grow up and get my mind right. I was lucky to have good people around me. One day I decided to get serious about being a man and a leader. Short story long...I started out as an E-1 and made it to O-4. That wouldn't have been possible making excuses.

I own up to every mistake I make. "I MAKE" being the operative words in this comment. Sometimes it's helped me, sometimes it hasn't. I'll gladly do it each and every time. But there's been many times I've got jumped for shit that was somebody else's fault and I'll be damned if I'm taking the fall for it because in my 57 years of living there hasn't been one time anyone's ate a shit sandwich on my behalf, ESPECIALLY in the military. Not once. There is a razor thin line between owning up to your mistakes and letting yourself be the company punching bag for all that goes wrong. There's two kinds of excuses. The first one is just that, an excuse. The second is a "case" or an "argument". If I have a case you can bet you will hear about it. Because in my life other than family I can count on half of one hand the amount of people I would be willing to fall on a grenade for.
