  • Traces of the growth of Surinamese literatures are to be found in Suriname as wel as in The Netherlands. Thalia Ostendorf entered the archives of the Museum of Literature in The Hague, and conducted research to writers Anton de Kom, Bea Vianen, Albert Helman, and Rudie van Lier. Watch this video to find out what she encountered.
'Researching and spending time in the archive feels a bit like treasure hunting because you have an inkling of what might be there, but you still always find things that you didn't expect.'
The exhibition, Surinaamse schrijvers (Surinamese writers), highlights some of the literary works and personal testimonies that will teach us more about Suriname’s rich culture and troubled history. The exhibition is open for public until February 6th, 2021.
