    I'm thinking about moving to ATL from Montgomery, AL. Sure the traffic is ass but you'd expect that in any major city lol. But it's so much opportunity and so much to do. Plus it is only like 3 hours from Montgomery, where I live

    I grew up here in Atlanta, and everything you said was spot on. Henceforth why I'm moving in June. It's alot of pros like you said, but i'll be damned if there are alot more cons. Some of the things you didn't mention is how Atlanta is the mecca for damn near everything ghetto. Aside from that,it has the 6th highest HIV rate in the nation, which is linked to the high gay population here. The Atlanta Public School system is embarassing; due to the APS scandal. The police are corrupt. Atlanta is ranked in the top 20 most crime ridden cities every year. I think you mentioned the racial divide here. The racial divide is insane. All the blacks mostly live in Decatur and Southwest Atlanta, Latinos live on Buford Highway, and all the whites occupy all of North Atlanta.

    I love your hair, and you put a pretty tremendous amount of effort into this. :) My fascination with Atlanta began maybe about 7 years ago with listening to a radio talk show that was based there. I am planning to live there. been there only once to Atlanta, love at first sight.

    Truly stunned because nearly everything this young lady stated was accurate and as true today (Jan 2017) as it was in 2013. With one exception of finding a one bedroom apt for $450. Yeah it would DEFINITELY NOT be any place you'd want to live for sure (even back in 2013) and even if you could find one--LOL.
    But one thing she stated was the ABSOLUTE truth. And that is you CAN NOT come here looking for any sort of factory jobs or warehouse types of employment. This is a high-tec city and you must have professional training/degree or job skills to live a good life here.
    Atlanta is a music hub for sure no matter what style of music. But I'm not sure about the whole modeling things and I've lived here for welllll over 25 yrs and very in touch with what's going on here. Yeah you have a lot of wannabe models running around (for sure :). But no National Modeling Agencies that I'm aware of or even heard about.
    Good Job

      Carl F5050 well my husband does not have a degree and he is a chef at one of the best hospitals in Atlanta. but he wants me to move there I don't know. I visited once it was kool. but I am a New Yorker at heart. I don't know about the South. if some one comes at me crazy with all that racism crap I am going loose it.

    Thank you very much 😊! I'm getting married and moving from Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm moving from a relatively calm, kinda of country subdivision area, with a lot of creeks and deer, lot's of trees, where people have personal gardens, as well as we have a city 50 gardens program, you can even buy chicken's to raise, plus they will build you a chicken coop for nearly nothing! My husband to be gave me 3 million dollars to get a house, as one of my wedding gifts to me, he picked the area and sent me a listing of about fifty house's to look at, and at the end of my search I found one! He lives there so he picked the John's Creek. GA area since he is aware of how I grew up. And young lady you are absolutely right, the very last house I looked at was the one for me! It has been empty for 10 years and it is an unbelievable home, the list price was over 2 million dollars, I didn't want to use all the money because I wanted money for furniture without him having to go into his pockets again! I told him we could get that house a lot cheaper than the list price! And so I prayed, and prayed over this house to focus on positive energy on the purchase of it! We got the house for a steal of a deal like you said pennies on the dollar 😁! He got this gorgeous home
    for the LOW, LOW! It is s 8 bedroom, 10 bathroom house with 20 rooms plus, it has a large guest house, pool house, 4 car garage, large Spanish style pool, it also has a tennis court, basketball court combo fenced in with night lights, it comes with 4 more acres and then another 2.5 acres, it has a long drive way with a large fountain out front, and a lot more items in the home sauna, weight room, theater room, just the work's! Believe it or not, we got this house for less than 1 and a half million! Now I have 2 million plus to put into the house, without him giving me another dime! So I am going to add onto this house, and then some, plus buy high end furniture! And do some really special things for him pertaining to a man cave! I'm adding a huge solarium for my girl time for myself and my company with a indoor pond and botanical garden and I might even put in an indoor pool and etc! Now he doesn't have to give me any of the money he intended too, for the things to go in the house, I stayed within the house budget of 3 million dollars and did more than great! Your information was very helpful to me, thank you very much 😊!

    I moved from Florida to Stockbridge, 30 mins south of Atlanta. Although I dislike the town, I love driving into the city of Atlanta.. And don't mind the traffic at all because it gives me time to take pictures (weird I know). The scenery here is wonderful... No matter where you are, you're gonna see the Atlanta skyline. A lot of parks, long streets, a lot of good restaurants and variety to choose from. Shopping here is a plus, Lenox Square especially. The elevation of land is also a feature here that I'm in love with and not used to because Florida is so flat. Atlanta is awesome though. My cons of living in Atlanta are the crazy drivers and the unloyal fanbase of Atlanta sports teams (except Atlanta Braves).

    This video failed to mention that if you dont have a CAR; it is very difficult to get to the Fox Theater, concerts, clubs and yes even to church if you dont have a car. Not having a Car in Atlanta is equivalent to not have a job, house or food.

    As far as finding jobs. I'm a very versatile worker trained and experienced in many technical fields including civil tech, construction inspection, industrial maintenance and drafting. I've have had very little difficulty finding good paying work in any of those fields in Georgia. But it's amazing to me how few people out there know there are very good paying jobs in those fields. STEM jobs or any job that involves knowing how to put things together and keep them working basically continue to be in great demand and are very rewarding. But most Americans steer clear of these types of jobs and then complain there are no jobs out there.

    I'm 2-3 hours away from Atlanta, I saw the Lion King play last time I went. Well i'd consider the malls a pro if you have the money. But also homeless ppl a con. I got lost and I saw a road with a lot of homeless ppl sleeping on the wall and it was extremely sad....then a man dove head first in a trashcan to try get drink out of cup which turned out to be empty. But the night scene is great. We used 2 make the 3 hour drive for it from time to time

    I lived in Atlanta from 1988 to 2009. It was a great place to live. A lot of things have moved out of the city though and gone to the outskirts. Gwinnett is huge. Mall of Georgia. Buckhead and Sandy Springs and Roswell and Alpharetta. I like Atlanta but I think someone said it below. Around 2000 was when Atlanta was the best. The one thing you need to know --- is that traffic is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Also, Georgia is the incarceration capital of the world. One in thirteen people are in prison, on parole or on probation and they have 25 prison industrial plants. It is a prison state.

    She was on point about most of what she said. The thing that caught me off guard was the $450 rent. Yeah, in 2013 it was 'possible' but 9.5 times out of 10 that was a terrible terrible place to live.

    • @RainCityDana
      @RainCityDana  7 років тому

      +ToniWz with the amount of owners with empty home, condo and townhouse rentals, $450 is still very much available out there and I never said that rent that cheap was going to be in a favorable place.

      +Leighann Anderson But least there's an option of what type of transport you pick to get home. In GA, MARTA SUCKS, and it's totally limited, so MOST ppl drive. In NYC, can't speak for Philly, and NJ, most people who work in the city take the train. I work in the city, and if one line is crowded, I freaking walk to another line headed in the same direction. I can get off and take a bus from the train, or take the train all the way to my stop. In GA, is pretty much driving or nothing else, then when there's an accident, it just makes it worse, not to mention that people in GA can't drive for shit.

    It's common sense to only move to a place if you've already been offered a job. Atlanta can't be worse than New Jersey, we're at negative growth. At least Atlanta has an economy, Jersey is a leach off NYC.

    I lived in atl in 2011-2012. I moved for work on a comcast contract with a friend that was starting up. I worked a lot, so I didnt enjoy ATL as much as others, just another place. I remember watching the news and there was a lot of crime in the black communities. I noticed a lot of people seemed to be...maybe living check to check, a lot of people shared housing. The worst traffic is in the north, on the Perimeter I-285, I-75, I-85, I-575, the southern part of the region is not as busy. You do need a car, its not the east coast cities or Chicago, ATL is very spread out into the countryside. Housing is affordable and you can only afford 4,5,600.00 then it will be a dump with cockroaches. The more desirable apartments are the newest style of apartments, very huge with lots of units and lots of walking, you will be paying minimum 900.00 for two bedrooms and one bath. Its not as affordable as people tell you. Most of the people are stuck up acting, even the poor people. Overall! Atlanta sucks

      How do you like the people? For me I remember atlanta natives being extremely funny with character lol. And how's the dating scene changed? Or is it still all about status?

    • @harlemkiid149
      @harlemkiid149 9 років тому

      People are much nicer here than they're in LA,it's a night and day difference. There's a ton of people here who aren't natives of the A and even they're nice,Southern Hospitality is contagious here. I've been busy with work but it's easier to find a date here in the A as opposed to LA for a few reasons.
      The ratio women to man is offset 8 to 1 so for a guy there's a lot to choose from and bcuz the ratio is offset, down here they'll make an effort to strike up a conversation with a guy more so than they would in other states where the ratio is almost even. I've been flirted with on multiple occasions since I've been here(grocery store,gym, pool at my apt,etc)
      There's a few people still stuck on having the status quo but for the most part they're all down to to earth here....
      It's not nearly as bad as LA, and I get the impression you don't have to buy an attractive girl with brains. A lot of girls here are religious and they refuse to date guys that aren't gentleman,respectful etc
      I know 3 different girls in my apt who are in relationships with other girls solely because they're using them for financial support,shelter etc so if you're a guy with your priorities in order and you make fairly good money,finding a sweet girl will be a breeze.

    Atlanta is cool, I live in NYC and love it here but when I was younger I wanted to visit the south badly so I did. I did visit Florida twice and stopped but in Houston, Texas once, I even touched down in Atlanta once on my way to Texas. Atlanta is cool but as usual the people that lived in an area the most are the ones to criticize it the most. Towns are more appealing to people who didn't grow up there. Only thing i like about ATL right now is the food spots. I can admit the city is too crowded with people who are not originally from ATL. Every time i visit i never meet anyone who actually grew up there. It's always someone who just moved there 3-6 months ago and they are a rapper, producer, songwriter, model, etc. I swear it's soooo annoying. Atlanta has some great restaurants but overall i think Atlanta was the place to be back in the 90s. A day in Atlanta repeats itself everyday now. You run into the same things everyday there and same people. She's right it's a very competitve city. There's a lower cost of living but that's OTP. The crime is wayyyyyyyyyy outta control as well.

      The cities you mentioned are in DeKalb county, I've lived in both and they're not exactly favorable places to stay at the moment. Lots of liquor stores, plus public transportation and local officials that should be doing a bit more. For small children I recommend Gwinnet County, the public school system here is best for most ppl in metro ATL and the rent is decent depending on where you stay. FYI: If you can avoid Lithonia altogether.

      Suwanee, GA is a really great place to raise a family. it was rated a family town. It has good schools in both Gwinnett and Forsyth county. It's a good distance from the city too. You're near Lake Lanier which is really nice and a short drive from the north GA mountains

    i'm born and raised in DC. i'm looking into relocating. my questions are: (1) in your experience do people tolerate to gay people? (2) what's the club scene like? (3) would i easily find a job as a dental assistant? (4) how long is the summer?

    • @losmuertos12
      @losmuertos12 7 років тому

      I'm not from here but here you go:
      1.) inner city is gay tolerant. The "pride festival" is in a different time of year than other parts of the US i think. Not sure why. atlanta is extremely spread out. it depends on the place you are at.
      2.) club scene FUN. I came from a small town in Calif. that had NO clubs. I really like the bar and club scene here it's endless and people know how to party here.
      3.)YES I think this is a great city to work in dentistry
      4.) I think it changes year to year. This summer has been very rainy to start off but now it's more like normal summer. It will likely last into Sept-Oct? Not sure

    I'm from Delaware , and I lived in Atlanta for a short time and I loved it! I have family and friends there, and i'm considering going back. I have somewhere to stay, but i'm going to look for me a job before I head down. That's what people who move there fail to do. And as far as the rate of gays and the HIV, IT'S EVERYWHERE! Not just Georgia, so they can literally can that one! Maybe if people everywhere used protection or just plain stop helping themselves to every pair of opened legs, stop bowing down to every big dick or stop living on the damn downlow, then people could live without a bunch of fear. Blame people and their carelessness, and not the city or state itself. It's just a dwelling.

    I visited Georgia in 2013,drove down from NYS.
    I plan on retiring to Georgia (in 9 yrs) but I often think of the possibilities of leaving my job here in NY sooner rather than later.
    I didn't get to see much of Atlanta as I wanted.I thought it was ok.I remember the news reporting some guy almost got carjacked while I was down there but he pulled a gun and shot the crooks.That's the way I like thise kind of stories to end..lol.
    I saw some discusting and exceedingly ghetto prostitutes while I was at the gas station.Saw a lot of high end cars
    My question is why don't people in ATL signal when they're changing lanes???

      So many people in Atlanta are from other parts of the country that there is no one type of Atlanta person. And people who love be in midtown are not going to be like people in Decatur or Marietta or Roswell or Norcross.
      If you are outgoing and positive minded you will do well. Do the things you enjoy and not chase from trendy spot to trendy spot and you will meet like minded people.

Traffic is bad during peak hours,but I believe it's because we make own traffic by driving slow(speaking for the grandmas out there).. I am interested but lots of worries. Mainly because I'm moving as a couple with my partner, not sure if it'll be easy getting a job.. the best urban areas to move(not the hood) but like middle class hood? Know what I mean? 😂 lol. If not I can explain. But just nervous about the big move 🤷‍♂️

I use to go to Florida all the time when I still lived in Atlanta and I always liked Florida better plus Florida has more than one major city to visit go to the beach and have fun in. West Palm Beach, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami are the best plus you have Disney World and beaches in Tampa and Jacksonville.

    Keep in mind. Georgia is the incarceration capital of the world. One in thirteen people are in prison, on parole or on probation and they have 25 prison industrial plants. It is a prison state. I am a white guy saying this too. Highly educated and wrote a book on this topic. Be advised, that if, God forbid, you do get in trouble in Georgia sentences there are extreme. Sometimes as much as 10 to 30 times what you would get in California.
