We Found 10 Tiny Newborn Chicks! | Wildlife Vlog UK

Our annual trip down the River Wye was as always, spectacular, as Dad and I slowly kayaked a 15 mile stretch of the river over a 7-hour period. Our main focus was Goosander who give birth around this time each year.
Goosanders, confusingly known as Common Mergansers across the pond in America, together with other members of the sawbill family of ducks are fish-eaters. So they dive for their food and as my Dad, Rupert, and I witnessed, the chicks dive just about as soon as they emerge from the egg.
Typically, Goosander are shy birds, but not when they are on the River Wye. It would appear that the Goosanders on this river have become so familiar with the flotillas of passing canoes, kayaks and paddleboards and the lack of threat that they present, they have given up taking evasive action. As long as you remain afloat on/in your craft, they completely ignore you. Step onto the shore and they take rapid evasive action.
We enjoyed all the garden birds plus Sedge and Reed Warblers, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Reed Bunting, chattering Swallows and Sand martins and Swifts screaming overhead.

Sorry..Henry.. I haven't been back to your channel for a bit. I was busy getting ready for my moose trip. It was only a short three day event. But I was fortunate to get some awesome close up moose footage which I will be posting later on. My wife and I really enjoyed this video. What a beautiful river, to run.
