My dog who passed in February used to LOVE to watch Monty all the time. She somehow knew from the moment I put on your video that it was Monty, before she even heard the beginning of it. She would watch intently and bark her head off through much of it. While she was declining, I was hoping and praying you would post a new video for her to see. But I guess you were taking a break then. I still played your old videos for her up until the very end. She went from barking her head off, to barking sometimes, to giving a little growl here and there. I have been way too sad to watch your new videos, but am going to give this one a try and see if I can do it. Who knows, maybe she will join me 🙏💔

The question about Captain Teeny-Trout in the videos IS in fact one I was asking myself, and I sort of got the vibe that this was where he was headed because of the mentions about his camera gear in past videos! Good for him, I'd definitely watch him and Layla! You have a lot of really good travel companions on the channel and he's always one of my favourites.
My dog loves Monte. He is fully engaged while watching your videos. He tries to join Monte when you throw the stick towards the camera. He runs in the direction you are throwing the stick but cannot find it because it doesn’t exist in his reality.

I go camping in Northern Michigan with my son., almost always now off the North branch Au Sable. And never enough. Your videos I use vicariously because I miss the days when I could just go up 5 times a Summer/fall. There is nothing like it. Other places in younger days-BWCA & Isle Royale. Like going back in time. But you just seem like you'd be a great guy, pal, bud...future dad? My word of encouragement is that he needs to find his own schtick, not copy what you do. I love your insane goofiness. No one else could ever successfully copy that. And your interaction with Monty is priceless. I love watching you cook over a campfire - all the details you put into it from smashing your mushrooms to delicately cutting your onion. Do your onions ever make you cry? And the bugs, especially mosquitoes - yikes! When I was a kid we used to build smudge fires, or fires where we burned green grass. I do enjoy your stories, and fishing tackle breakdown, and your blabbering... like you're sitting across from us having a conversation. Mosquito Defense- I have serious allergies so I can't use poison. I use a combo of Eucalyptus and Peppermint essential oils. Add 10-12 drops to the spritz bottle with water and put that on my clothing. I'll add straight drops to my cuffs and collar to keep them off my hands and head. Oh, yes, I wear long sleeves, even in Texas. Light colored cotton, 2 sizes too big, helps to keep them away from the skin. Ask your vet if those strong smells will hurt the dog's respiratory systems. That might be a way to keep the skeeters off of them. Apply a drop to a rag, and gently wipe it on the top of their fur. Yes, this will need multiple applications through out the day. You eat allllll that raw cabbage, and wonder where the barking spiders come from. I would have been doubled over with explosive Big D most of the night. Oh, Matthew, are you aware that the number one source of food borne illness: is warm mayo. Try using Brown Cow, cream on top yogurt; that is a whole milk yogurt with cream and that gives a silky smooth texture like mayo, and very little tartness. Add a tablespoon of olive oil per little cup of yogurt, and a little salt and pepper, maybe a tiny squeeze of lemon. That is what I use for portable mayo. That fermented dairy is much safer to take on day trips. You take me places I will never get to see, and do things I can never do, again. Thanks for bringing us along.
Gotta love dogs. They just ate, but they see you eating and are "hey, we want more food too!" Even though they are well fed. Dogs are just like that. There's a reason we always fed the family dog AFTER we ate. Not only because the scraps ended up in the dog dish, but also because they would beg either way. And by scraps i usually mean meat drippings and trimmings added to dry dog food. The fat from the meat was good for the coat, and it added a ton of flavor to what amounts to very bland dry dog food.
