    Also note that if you don't use it for a while the battery dies and you can't start it or charge it again

      @TheTalisman515, I have seen mention of this in several places and an internet search shows that this is a significant issue. Thanks for the warning. (And how disappointing of Logitech's "non-response.") One tip for those that come across this: if you bought with a credit card, some credit card companies will offer an additional year of warranty.
      Also, I am pinning this comment to the top of the comments just in case we can save other people from this issue.

      @carlq5894 , that makes me sad. Logitech presenter is top mark, BUT THEIR SUPPORT IS HORRID.

    This is a great walkthrough of this presenter. I purchased a gold one months ago and I did not understand EVERYTHING it was capable of until watching this video. Thank you very much for the informative nature of your work.

      @filamacan, this remote was released more than 5 years ago and it still rocks. It looks modern and nothing else comes close. I am glad the tutorial helped and now go out and make an awesome presentation!

    This has been super helpful to watch. Thanks for putting this video together because the Logitech site's description is not super clear. I also don't quite understand the usefulness of the timer/clock. I feel like a watch works fine. Also, personally, I find Bluetooth to be much more reliable than USB connections because in some venues, I've noticed some of their clickers or equipment can interfere with a USB/presenter connection, which has never happened to me with a Bluetooth connection.

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  5 місяців тому

      @jpl980, I agree about the timer/clock. The last time I used that feature was when creating the video. While displaying the time on the presenter view is worthless, I suspect having a "5-minute" timer when you have a STRICK time limit to present. It could have a 1-minute time-left warning. But in real life, I have never used it.
      On USB vs Bluetooth. Presenting in strange venues always scares the heck out of me with so many things outside of my control. If Bluetooth works for you (and you are not that far from the presenting computer), then go with it!

      Aren't both types of connections Bluetooth? The only difference is if you are using the Bluetooth built into the laptop, or if you are using the Bluetooth in the USB dongle. Perhaps you are saying that the position of the Bluetooth antennae built into the laptop works better, where as depending where the Bluetooth USB dongle is plugged in, it might partially block the signal?

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  2 місяці тому

      I am quite sure that the dongle is NOT Bluetooth. Looking on the Logitech website, they refer to some unnamed "Advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology." They state it is both faster responding and longer range. I have no scientific radio testing equipment, so I can't confirm. Other than getting great distance results when on the dongle.

    Thanks for the detailed instruction. My company bought this presenter for work and share among colleagues. Problem is we have to download the software on every laptop to use it, and the setup was reset every time we change the laptop. Is there any way to set "as default"?

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  Рік тому

      Just to make sure, these are Windows computers? And do different people log into these laptops? Or are the laptops dedicated to an individual?

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  Рік тому

      Just in case someone bumps into this comment; my speculation is that these are shared WINDOWS laptops that different people are logging into. The Logitech settings are saved to the specific user directory. The most likely solution is to work with the IT support team and have them configure the settings to be dropped into the DEFAULT or ALL USER Windows folders for them to replicate properly.

    Just wondering… After you have installed all the customizations to the remote, are you able to use those customizations without launching the software?
    I’m hoping that I can customize the settings and plug the USB into any computer with those customize settings and use them in a presentation without having to install the software on multiple computers

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  Рік тому +1

      @Ho Da Kine! - Unfortunately the setting are tied to the computer. Furthermore, to get the bonus functionality, the software must also be installed.
      Just plugging in the USB dongle give you connectivity, not features.

    I only want to use a pointer that can shine on a LCD TV screen. No presentation software or laptop. Will this device do that? Can I simply plug the dongle into the USB outlet on a TV set?

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  Рік тому

      @uvideohelicopter: there is no LED light out of this remote. Instead it must use the software installed on a Mac or Windows computer and be running a presentation software; such as PowerPoint or Slides. So the answer is that this is NOT the pointer for you.

    Does anyone know of a clicker like the Spotlight Presentation Remote that also has a traditional laser pointer? In my use of the Spotlight remote, there have been times when I missed having the physical laser remote in case I need to point to anyone NOT on the screen. I'd ideally like to have a clicker/pointer that offers both a digital pointer and traditional laser pointer.

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  2 місяці тому

      I don’t think so, but you might explore. Based on a web search here are some recent presentation handheld pointers (the summary is not mine):
      1. DINOSTRIKE Presentation Clicker: Offers a unique finger ring concept for a hands-free experience, easy-to-understand controls for page navigation and screen functions, and compatibility with various operating systems and popular presentation software.
      2. Kensington Expert Wireless Presenter: Features a bright green laser pointer, cursor control joystick for precise movement, backlit button controls, and a wireless range of up to 150 feet. It is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS X.
      3. Logitech Spotlight: Elevates presentations with its digital highlighting system, allowing for precise highlighting or magnification of specific areas on the screen. It requires the use of the Logitech presentation app.
      4. Targus - Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer: A battery-powered device that can be used to point out important information in a crowded room or for educational purposes.
      5. Logitech R500s Laser Presentation Remote Clicker: A wireless presenter with a laser pointer, suitable for presentations and lectures.
      6. Kensington K33374EUB Wireless Presenter: A wireless presenter with a laser pointer, designed for presentations and lectures.
      7. Logitech 910-005749 Spotlight Presentation Remote: A presentation remote with a spotlight feature, allowing for precise highlighting of information on the screen.

    How can I set the settings for multiple profiles of a shared computer without manually going in to each profile to do so?

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  Рік тому

      I suspect you are asking about a shared WINDOWS computer in a conference room. I am unaware of a way to retroactively change existing profiles, but Windows does have a "Default" user profile that all subsequent accounts would follow. Below is the official Microsoft description . . . try Googling some of these terms to learn how.
      "Windows uses the default user profile as a template to assign a profile to each new user. By customizing the default user profile, you can configure settings for all user accounts that are created on the computer."

    Can someone tell me if 2 spotlight remotes can be connected to the same computer and working at the same time? I would think this would work through bluetooth. We have very large classes with multiple presenters and to have at least 2 remotes would be great.

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  Рік тому

      @MJ Bomar, I cannot confirm this as I only have one remote, but I suspect that if you pair one Spotlight with the included USB dongle and the second one with Bluetooth, that they should both work on a Windows computer, as the PC will just see the Bluetooth connected as an input device and if you install the software for the dongle connected Spotlight it will have all the native features tied to that device. My guess is that there is an 85% chance of success. Buy it locally with a good "open box" return policy.

      @@PowerUpTraining Thanks for the reply. I actually purchased 2 of them and set them. They both work when connected to bluetooth. However, if you use the USB dongles only 1 works. I was also able to use the Logitech app to set up features and it work for both.

      @MJ Bomar: This is EXCELLENT research work! Thanks for contributing creative uses of the remote. Question: does the "Back" button work for both remotes . . . so that either presenter can move forwards and backwards?

    hi does it work on ipad pro 2020 with same features and functionality ?

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  2 роки тому +1

      I don't have access to an iPad Pro, but on a the lower iPad it works in just the basic mode of advancing and going back a slide at a time. There is no IOS Logitech software, so the bonus features of highlighting and laser light will NOT work as it would on a mac laptop or desktop computer where there is macOS software from Logitech.

      @@PowerUpTraining so there is software for it to work in a 2021 MacBook Pro? I have Microsoft office on my MacBook, and I’d love to be able to play/pause/play/pause videos in PowerPoint. I hope this remote can do that!

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  2 роки тому

      @@JoshMG There is Mac software for managing a presentation but I will need to check how it handles an embedded video inside of a presentation. After I get back to my office, I will test it out and reply back tomorrow.

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  2 роки тому

      So I double-checked this morning (both Windows and Mac) with an embedded video inside the presentation. It will work but with a bit of practice. Turn on the CURSOR mode, such as on the to top button, and then hold down the top button to turn on "air mouse" which will bring up the arrow cursor. And here is the trick, while holding down the top button, position it right over the video play & pause location (bottom left corner); let go of the top button. Now with a click of the top button it will toggle the play and pause off and on. (I love this remote!)

    Could you please show how you use the Logitech Remote with Google Slides? I only see videos showing to add Remote for Slides to Google Chrome, then they show how to use your phone, but I do not see how to use the Logitech Remote. Thank you.

    • @PowerUpTraining
      @PowerUpTraining  5 місяців тому

      I am not a regular Google Slides presenter, but I did just fire up a presentation and launched it into slide show mode. With the Logitech software already installed on my PC, the Logitech Spotlight Remote would 1) advance the slide, 2) reverse the slide with the matching buttons and even show the "spotlight" on screen laser pointer that could then be moved with hand motions by waving the remote around.
      @danstrage4507, if there is a specific function you are looking for beyond the basics, let me know, and I can try it out.

      @Vow, I hear you. Classy? or Flashy? One great thing is that I have used mine for a few years and it still looks brand new; I do put it in its case when traveling but sweaty palms (while giving presentations ) do not tarnish the premium look!
