- After getting an invite from Mido, I am here in Bilbao, Spain, to attend their event honoring 75 years of the Mido Ocean Star, which also coincides with the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, a pretty fitting scene for a watch review if you ask me. In this video, I share my thoughts of this watch after a few weeks of wear and exploring the beautiful city of Bilbao. For full transparency, I was not paid for this review, however, Mido did help cover my travel for the event. I hope you enjoy the video!

My Swiss watches are all Mido. I have three Ocean Stars, one of them is from their last line, rare now and to this day hard to find. Also have one limited edition Chronograph. Thanks for this great video! Finally Mido is getting some recognition. I do love this new one, the colors are spot on.
I absolutely love my MIDO watch! Definitely underrated but kind of glad it is. Guys come up to me all the time asking about my MIDO.

Just some sharing.
Even though the lug size is 21mm, actually there is 2 strap/lug hole, inner and sightly outer. I try with my 20mm nato strap, is actually perfectly fitted with the outer strap hole. Is really an underrated timepiece that need more attention. Even in South East Asia, Mido is as that popular over here.

Awesomeness, i just bought this yesterday in Switzerland. Was looking at oris and longines but bumped into ocean star Tribute and absolutely love the vintage styled design and it has day in german language

I just bought this watch in the black dial with PVD numbers and love it! It looks fantastic and has a luxury feel.
Great review of a great watch. Here in Mexico Mido is a very respected brand. Specially the commander line of watches. Usually the owners of Mido watches use them for a lifetime (literally) without any problems. I love this watch that you can get for less than a thousand bucks.

I was thinking about buying this watch. What a surprise to find a video from Teddy reviewing it IN MY CITY! Now I have to buy it I guess! Hehehe
Thanks for the vid Teddy. It's surprisingly the only video review in English of this watch that's worth mentioning. I really like it's design, particularly the colour of the dial and its bracelet. 2 small downsides to mention on the paper: the day/date window is in white, while on the black version it's in negative to match the dial. Not sure why Mido didn't do a blue date background on the blue version. Second is that being all polished, it's going to get a hell lot of patina quite fast! The clasp on your test model already had suffered a bit. It scares me off, but I've ordered one none the less. Can't wait for it to arrive!
Hi Teddy. It's great to see you travelling around the world to show off watches! I live near Bilbao and my girlfriend is from there so it was fantastic to see it randomly pop up. Shame I didn't know you were in the area otherwise I would have gone up and shouted you a couple of vinos, it was your videos that really put me onto Nomos and now I have one thanks to you. Hey Teddy, I’m on vacation in Malaysia and just saw this at an AD in person. I have to say...I really might pull the trigger. Offered a decent discount and it looks great and fits so well on my 6.75 inch wrist. Also, never been a huge fan of day date or even date, and while I feel this watch as well would be very nice with a no date option, I actually don’t mind the complications in person! And my god that bracelet is unique and ultra comfortable

Really like this piece, it reminds me of a mint Tudor Snowflake Sub without just ripping of the Tudor design like some micro brands have done, so that's very appealing. Mido has a great history & the Ocean Star is part of it so I could really see myself picking up the blue dial on that sweet bracelet..
I love Mido. I was split between the ocean star and CW Trident until my gf surprised me with a CW. I think this is a very tasteful piece!
I am very satisfied with my Mido Commander II. Beautiful design and great specs.
Looks great, the titanium version has been on my radar for a while.
Mido is so underrated. One of my favorite watch is a Mido All Dial Diver in rubber strap. I never see other wearing it.

How do you feel that both case and bracelet are all polished? Does it got too 'shiny' on the wrist?

I love it actually.
At first i had the same concern so i changed it into the other strap that came with the box(The blue one with more casual look). But i changed the strap back to the steel one last week to give it a try.And suprisingly it makes the watch look even better!I feel like its indeed a shiny watch but the blue tone on the dial and bezel balanced it out perfectly.And most importantly, the unique,retro strap really lets it stand out among most of the "modern" divers out there today.
But still,if you are a guy that don't want anything too shiny one the wrist,i wouldn't recommend it!
That's just my opinion tho,hope that helps!

A while back when they featured my Titanium and my dog on their website, I asked them to next make a 40mm diver. They said Okay. The colors and polish here are not my style but I'll keep watching to see what else they do with this case. Like you say, the ratcheting clasp is awesome.
Awsome watch and an excellent review Teddy! Very tempted, but maybe too much overlap with my Squale 1521, also azzurro and on shark mesh, and my blue Hydroconquest. Feeling quite responsible today (just wait for tomorrow ;-)
Beautiful watch, proportions are perfect, bracelet and end links are spot on. If this was around when i bought my Pelagos i might have got this instead and used the extra money on a vintage datejust or speedmaster pro. Maybe theres room in the collection for both 🤔

Good video! I love Spain
Owning it for 1 week now. I had issues with a very stiff turning bezel so it needs to go in the shop for a repair. But the watch itself is beautiful, super size, great clasp. Drawback is really the dissapointing lume, never the less choose it over the Ocean Star GMT due to it´s nicer case-size.
Beautiful watch, as you said Mido is an unappreciated brand in the USA 🇺🇸 that should draw more attention. Nice video and keep the good work my friend!

When reviewing dive watches, it would be nice if you said what the bezel action was like. It’s quite important and can make or break a purchase starting at around this price point and upwards.
The people diving off that bridge gave me anxiety laying on my couch. Great video though. Your doing amazing work.
I own a Mido Ocean Star. Such a good watch. I think Mido or Swatch Group has positioned itself (Mido) well right below Longines.
I think getting to look at under-the-radar watch companies is a really cool idea. Would love to see you visit Christopher Ward next.

For the price I prefer buy the Longines hydroconquest 2018. 300 more, but in my opinion best company and best watch.

Totally understand why MIDO chose this precious basque city for the event.
Just one thing, although Santiago Calatrava is a very famous and prominent architect , he’s got a reputation to do things, not so great as you might think.
The “Zubizuri” bridge or “puente Calatrava” as they call it, has quite a bad reputation.. Thr floor is made of a plexiglass so as in Bilbao is raining all the time, and the bridge is inclined both ways..imagine. They had to put a ‘tapison’ , the artificial grass type, because the people were breaking legs there daily!

@@TeddyBaldassarre love it. Wish the bezel was slightly more grippy on the edges. It's the largest watch I own. Blue dial really pops.
