"Booo, we're not here for that energy...." LOL! That is one of the best lines ever. I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm pretty new to junk journaling and have been wrestling with so many of the things you talk about in this video (and others). I finally started using ALL the things and it's so liberating! Now all I need is to start that commonplace journal for practice sessions and I'll be having so much, more fun! Thank you, Bree.

Thank you for letting me know I was not (crazy)!! LOL I often struggle with "over-analysis-paralysis" and "saving", my most precious goodies that I have gleaned over the years. I also understand the concept of how one idea, thought, and notion can be a catalyst and spur us forward in our designing efforts! Keep up the good work, your style is very refreshing! 👍🤔🌼

First video of yours that I'm watching and I super appreciate the way you explain things. This is such a chill approach to this idea and I haven't yet seen a junk journal approach to a common place book yet. Thanks for creating.

Love your content. So helpful. I never find the project "special enough " to use the "special things" I have saved (ok, hoarded, lol) and it does lead to overspending and lack of confidence in my ability to create art as you mention. Really appreciate your thoughtful approach and insights. Thank you!

You have a lovely, soothing voice. A nice Zen vibe for my crafting. Your content is a cut above ( pun intended) other channels because you provide history and truly helpful advice beyond just the mechanics of the journal. Congratulations on your wonderful channel. I have never wanted notifications of new videos on other channels but I don't want to miss anything.

Huh. I think I use those monthly prompt-alongs much like the commonplace books. Some of the decision making is taken out of what to do. And that leaves me free to do whatever. Thank you as always for sharing. Love your channel sooo much. 💕

I love the conversation you have about the history of journals. Actually there is a lot of this video that impressed me. Your comment about creating without the question of perfection is key! Your patience while making this journal is appreciated and easy to follow your design. I do wonder how you keep your craft room so clean. Lol. Just a lovely video!!

I came across commonplace junk journals but didn't know their purpose. Your videos explains things clearly. I switched to single signature fauxdori TN style journal and made layouts easier before I used expermential coptic bind mini journal this quickly became chunky and unmanageable and gave up on last 4 pages. I still have more materials than could possibly use and tend pick up leaflets, flyers on my travels plus printables. Using freestyle approach gives a home to ephemera I can't bare to throw away with eclectic mix and match approach.

Love your content and this video in particular. Your take on journaling and junk journals is refreshing to me at this stage of my process.
When I was younger I used to keep a journal and add clippings and quotes, idea and my own thoughts. It came naturally and I really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it.
Then I began to make journals as an artistic expression for people I loved who also wrote like me. And I began to make the books more and write less. Until I didn’t write at all.
I miss the art of using what I make. This video really helped me frame some of those ideas.
    Thank you!

THANK YOU!!! This really resonated with me. I love what you said about using the specialty and expensive pieces of ephemera. I'm definitely guilty of overspending then hoarding for my junk journal materials. You're so right- it IS a slippery slope! You've inspired me to actually use the pieces I've invested in, instead of just stashing them in a box thinking they're "too good" to be used. (After all... nobody buys paper and ephemera thinking, "Now I collect supplies." Or, well, maybe some people do...) And also: can you see my space through the screen or something?! Not only is my craft space a mess, but also, I have that exact same NYX lip gloss and Fabritac glue, lol. :D So okay, okay... I'll tidy up.

Your journals are beautiful 😍 💕 and I love the idea of keeping my pages simple (Because there are times when I can get carried away with filling my page lol...yes I know, less IS more sometimes 😁 as you said yoursel, keep it simple). I have already made an accordian junk journal which I enjoyed very much...the process itself was so therapeutic! So next on my list is an altered book. TYSMFS ❤ you now have a new subscriber 😁😊❤

I'm striving for commonplace & nature journaling combined & hoping to find the best journal (don't want to make my own), if you have any ideas please let me know & thank you Marie.

Hey, hey. If you’re doing a lot of layering in your collage you may want to look into a spiral ring book or be willing to cut pages from a regular case bound book. This will keep the book from bulking up.

calling it a “junk journal” .. makes all the difference. like a junk drawer where it’s not junk but it’s things you wanna keep but dunno where to keep them and omg it’s the same thing with the journal??? like oh my god! that just changed my entire view of it lol i never can keep up with a proper journal bc i feel like i have to and it has to be specific, but junk journals???? doesn’t need anything special- just shit you wanna keep but don’t have a space for !
