I don't remember that titan's eating lore wasn't revealed until season 3. Dang, this anime is so good they hooked audiences even without revealing the full lore for first 2 seasons
Was already hinted at with Ymir's backstory and conversation in the trees
It was revealed in season 2 actually. In Ymir's flashback episode it was all laid out

Human. Titan. Eats Marcel -> _immediately_ wakes up human; and that's separate from the 2x5 moment. Sharp teeth and claws -> "That's the one who ate Marcel." _blunt teeth_ -> wait but they're sharp af right now
And then Bertholdt clearly implies that Ymir, the Warriors, and Eren ate someone, and don't remember - it seems to get forgotten so easily by most (there are exceptions). It just kind of hangs over us as a fact from 2x10 onward.
I said more than i meant to. Just... I still get disappointed every time because I don't understand

I didn't notice this either the first time so I used to think there was a plot hole of sorts. Damn observant girls!

In reference to the comment at 11:58 . you guys were talking during 11:03 so not sure if you caught this dialogue, but the reason his father was killed wasn't because he asked the question, it was because he went around telling people what his father told him after.
Yeah I was wondering who was to blame there, did his father not make it clear enough, or is Erwin despite being a 4d chess genius actually an idiot (lets call it a low wisdom score)? lol
@@LoricSwiftwell… Erwin is smart but he was a kid back then he didn’t know better. I think the government killing his dad is what made him the man he is… always trying to be 5 steps ahead, making plans, investigating people, etc…
This season is the best, is when u start understanding almost everything we need to know now. And the final of the season makes u think A LOT

I watched this show and was so f’n lost. I watched it two more times and obviously you notice things and it’s incredible writing. I’m glad you guys are putting the pieces together and are even coming up with your own theory’s, it’s fun to watch.
It's so true, I didn't fully understand what was happening the first time because I watched it by myself. Only after rewatching do you pick up on things more. Information just gets dumped on you almost casually so that you're not really realizing the depth of what it all means right away.
Same, It is my second watch and it feel that I processed nothing of the second and third season on my first watch.
Man, I forgot how much lore this episode dumps in one hit. o_O

Do you remember the people who Sanness tortured in the last episode? I'm pretty sure the first "Teacher too smart..." was Erwin's dad.
You ladies are really sharp with your reactions and picking up leads. I wasn't exactly lost on my first watch but I definitely didn't catch as much. I think the two heads are better than one adage is really true here, because you play off each other so well too.
They are freaking smart as fuck. I couldn't understand most of the plot until I watched the second time
(Agreed- though I'm early in the video and still disappointed about the 2x10 backstory and conversation just not registering at all; it's confusing because ~4:43 feels like _known_ information that was laid out well in 2x10

Its so funny how i was think8ng the same way as them, but now that i know the answers to their questions, i hear them get so close to the answer their asking one second, while there talking about a different question in the next, and i think "wow, how are they not realizing the answer to the first question?"... but i was in that same situation lol.

These details about Historia's childhood are completely omitted.
Pixis visits Erwin at the army headquarters in Trost, where he is being held in custody.
Yeah, there’re actually many more changes, like the Levi and Dimo Reeves long exchange on top of the Wall was reduced to a 15 seconds dialogue. S3 Pt. 1 was heavily cut down unfortunately.

Binge-watching the show for the first time, I had no freaking clue what was going on during this whole arc.. Good job breaking through the dump of information and actually getting the hints in this episode, you still definitely need to re-watch it though

You both have done really well. You were so close to piecing it together. I'd guess you are far enough into the show future that you know the truth.
They cut some things from the manga (like a whole mini-arc) for this part. It's mostly just streamlining, but we lost:
- Pixis and Erwin debating revolutions (Pixis won't join a plan that involves infighting, so that's why Erwin has to wait to prove that they can avoid bloodshed with Historia).
- Hange and Levi doing a lot more reconnaissance finding allies for the scouts (like newspapers, and merchants). Basically using Dimo Reeves' death to get the town on their side, against the government.
- a funny scene with Armin absent mindedly hatching a plan to create chaos then enter as saviors to get people's approval, and everyone's like "Damn Armin's a lot shadier than we remembered" and Mikasa's like "I don't remember raising a child like that" lol
- Levi's a lot harsher on Historia who struggles with accepting her new role, over her pre-Ymir death seeking personality
It only gets crazier from here. You think this is crazy it’s just beginning.

Yup. That's how it works. The show divulges more info on it throughout both halves of this season.
That said, nothing is ever simple with this show, so there's an undercurrent of "unreliable narrator" going on that'll have you second-guessing yourself a lot.
EDIT: BTW, a bit of Historia's and Erwin's backstories were already foreshadowed in the previous episode when they were torturing Sannes, because he straight up admitted that the Interior Police killed people to protect a secret.. We just didn't know at the time he was talking about Historia's mom and Erwin's dad.

At this point, since you have enough data, have you ever wondered why Titans eat people? From what we know until now they don’t have a proper digestive system (as you have seen in the very first episodes when Eren got eaten). So why ingest something? And specifically humans?
