Kim talks about her wacky hair extensions in her book. She had done some promotional work for the extension company, so she thought she would wear them. This was Kim's first nomination, and she was up against heavy hitters, so she was not expecting to win. When she won, she said her thought was, "OMG, what have I done to my hair!" She is an incredible actress and her win was very well deserved.
Myrna - did you watch the storyline? This was a culmination of a year's worth of fine work, and the storyline proves it! It wasn't a bunch of screaming and crying - the entire scene was phenomenal. Long live Kim and Reva Shayne! Thanks for posting this!!!!
My God, she was so good in Guiding Light... absolute superb acting. Kim Zimmer is still my favorite actress and always will be. I would have loved to see her in movies.
One of the most memorable scenes ever on daytime. Prior to Guiding Light, loved Kim's version of Nola on the NBC soap The Doctor's after she took over the role after the great Kathleen Turner.
she did that with her hair bc she thought she wouldn't win. And she KNEW she had the best body of work that year but she had been snubbed so many times before...and then she won! She said in a few interviews that she kinda regretted doing that to her hair now but back then she believed she was making a statement.
Rick Mileske, I thought you were being harsh about Kim's hair. But when I saw her accepting her award, you were so right. I love Kim Zimmer to pieces, but that hair style has gotta go. Lol.

I saw this scene the day it aired and immediately knew is would become iconic.

My Favorite Couple. SOAP, ETC MISS THEM.💜💜
thanks for the video that I had never seen, beautiful great KIM ZIMMER
Best Emmy moment ever. I remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for posting this!
God the show was so good back then! Loved her intro storyline.
THE iconic scene of Guiding Light. Seventy plus years on the air and that one scene is how the show will, and should, be remembered. Awesome.
Love Kim Zimmer very awesome actress. The very best of all soaps and do miss Guiding Light.
Favorite soap character of all time!

I love how people were screaming for her
The greatest Daytime Emmy win ever!
MY FAVORITE girl on the show watched her for years
i never watched GL but i saw her on talk shows she was great
To all the people knocking the hair. Let’s remember, this was the mid 1980’s.
She is channeling Patti LaBelle from the 80s...with that hair. WOW..
Patti Labelle hair, Kim was the bomb
The good old days!
I love that she thank Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser. It was fun to see the ladies go at it in the final years of "One Life to Live".
OLTL had Them 3, Linda Dano and Hilary B Smith at the same time for a while. All of the top 5 best of daytime.
Nice Kim did her hair for the occasion!
That was the best scene of Guiding Light, possibly perhaps daytime television.
HARDLY
It would definitely be in my top 5 daytime scenes of all time
They showed the fountain scene at the Emmys, but Kim said THAT WAS NOT what she submitted for her Emmy reel. She didn't say what she submitted.
As a dedicated fan of Guiding Light I loved watching the character Reva Shane because you never knew what she was going to do next.
I remember this was on Entertainment Tonight which never barely even sniffed at the daytime soaps even at their heights in the 80s
That was a reva shayne moment

Where is the scene just before this
That Hair !!
Whats with the Tina Turner impression lol
I miss GL and Reva!
Love Kim--She's such a dork LOL
Always wondered what Patti Labelle looked like YT!!
Love her...but that hair though...lol
The 80s wasn't really about "taste." It was about making bold statements.
i love kim zimmer but what the hell did she o to her hair there lol
That hair 😅😅
Rick Mileske, I thought you were being harsh about Kim's hair. But when I saw her accepting her award, you were so right. I love Kim Zimmer to pieces, but that hair style has gotta go. Lol.
i loved her on gl but wtf is going on with her hair?
Kim's hair was absolutely hideous
Rick Mileske That’s how Revas character was on the Guiding Light.... she wanted to be different from the norm.
So was she
2nd best actress in Daytime history. Beautiful lady. Worst hair ever.
She always overacted
Personally i think her acting here is ridiculous!!! I like her but not here!!!
She acted ridiculous
Hot mess!
