Who loves this family?? You guys are awesome. I'm a Grammie and I've been loving watching you since your initial travel leaving North Carolina in your motor home. I miss my family being close so watching your videos helps a lot. ❤❤❤
If feel like I always wait for Pearls reaction to get the true essence of the daily pie, lol. With the great music selection and watching you cook is sooo relaxing and calming ❤
I’m enjoying the September pie series so much! This one looked delicious and I am amazed at the small amount of seasonings that went in it. Really interested in the historical pies coming up👍❤
I’d love to see you bake some Cornish Pasties. I’m from Michigan and they’re an Upper peninsula fall/winter staple! If you make them, serve with gravy or ketchup! Ps. I’m so glad this series is back for another season. I refer to season one often for delicious pies!
Being from Northern NH, on the Canadian border, I have grown up enjoying Tourtiere Pie on holidays. A savory meat pie. So good! I love your family and wish you lived just down the street. Love and light to you all.❤
I suggested this the first September Pie month. I've grown up eating Tourtiere and now make it for my family. This is a classic in French Canadian homes.
Had to watch this intro again to make sure you said your famous "Let's Do It..."!!😂 I love it when you say that with your or videos!🥰 Always brings me a smile! 🤭 This looks delicious, & i can't wait to try it & to share the video. The savory pies seem to be a great way to have a full meal for everyone. Thanks for these pie videos.. Love each one!!❤👏🥧💖
I’m a simple pie lady! Mince pie, steak pie, apple, rhubarb and ginger pie but I’ve loved watching the ones you have baked so far. I would try them, but there is only me and hubby and he is fussy! 😂 I’m loving all the comments!
A few years back I was gifted a SCARLET PIE I believe it was from Whole Foods.. It was so delicious I can only imagine how yummy it would taste homemade. It would be perfect for this time of the year.
Favorite Thanksgiving pie as a kid was mince meat pie with a rum sauce on top. It is an acquired taste and I can only eat one piece but my dad and I shared this obsession; nobody else in the family.
You approach the recipes the way I do. Make it to the instructions and ingredients the first time, then you can adjust to your liking. This one looked amazing, definitely going to try it. I think I really leaned toward the savoury ones in season 1 too.
YOU ARE AN AMAZING COOK I'M GOING TO TRY EVERYONE OF THESE PIES AND TARTS THAT YOU'VE MADE I JUST LOVE WATCHING YOU IN THE KITCHEN ALSO I LOVE YOUR LONG HAIR IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL 😊 HAVE A VERY BLESSED DAY 😊
I prefer savoury pies I might try this one. I am excited for your historical pies. I would love you to try stargazer pie this is a Cornish fish pie traditionally eaten on the 23 rd of December and has Richard heard sticking out the top like they are basing at the stars
butterscotch pie... cheeseburger pie... taco pie... million dollar pie... we love pie in my house lol. Grew up in the midwest so pie and hotdish is a staple in my house.
I tried the samosa pie and I added some yogurt hoping it would make it a bit more moist and it worked pretty well! Unfortunately I think I added too much water to the crust and it came out more chewy than flakey, so better luck next time! I get so inspired watching these! Thank you for doing it!
I can't wait to see if you make the rappie pie. On season 1 of September Pies, I asked almost every day but the months ended and you never had the chance to make it, I hope this season you at least look into it. Thanks for sharing, love yah Nancy
I’m from Scotland and I did leave a message on one of the videos about our individual pies. In my area we call them Scotch pies. My late brother in law, who was English, called them Jock Pies! Our local bakery makes the best. I’m not keen on the supermarket ones!
Tip: italiano:put some of the finest semolina on the bottom for it to absorb the liquid , if adding greeneries always cook/ boil them ( wok them) very quickly and squeeze out all the liquid very thoroughly. Tip: Cheffrançais: cover basr with a mixture of fine breadcrumbs mixed with hetbs, some salt, pepper and pine nuts or lineseeds ir any other chopped up grains and nuts ( a small handful should suffice) it will give crunch, flavour and leave bottom unsoaked. Tip: always cover bottom with pesto or mustard to give that lovely taste. Pearl knows how to enjoy her Cornish, eh, Sicilian Pasty ;-)
When we were kids, my girl scout troop had a bake-off every year and my sister won with a Sour Cream Raisin Pie. I don’t have the recipe (my mom or sister probably have it). But I did find it in a recipe book that we picked up from Williamsburg Virginia called “Recipes from Old Virginia”.
Yum, we put a meat pie with sauce (usually tomato) in a sandwich here in Australia. I imagine that would taste similar to this one. Im excited to see what historical pies you make, I would still love to see the depression Water pie. 🪷💙🇦🇺
Arrugola, replace by spinach, meat by lentils or any mashed up beans, add sjalots and or onions, pinenuts, be creative...with whatever you find in your larder, inspired by Madame Chef Meghan ;-)
Oh, l would add tomatoes and 1/2 ground meat with the sausage. I enjoyed your showing the elasticity of the dough. I am looking forward to making my own dough. Curious to know what is the dough maker brand?
I just realized what a great example you are setting with your family all sitting down together for a meal and or dessert. Even though I remember liking the 1st series better as I remember feeling included in your process. Now the making just feels a little generic in its presentation but since I’ve been busy I can just listen anyway I guess it’s fine. I like being part of the chaos and any stream of consciousness you have going on. Like cats underfoot, screen doors slamming, life streaming around and with you as you work. Perhaps having Jude or Eve help make a pie of their choosing. That would be a day of fun and laughter and a little chaos. Of course you do you, I’ll jump to watch your videos however you prepare them.
We've been watching you make some tasty looking pies this month. Have you tried making the French Canadian meat pie, Tourtiere? We tried it at Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts. Very delicious.
French Canadian Meat Pie or Tourtière is a popular pick for Christmas time with lots of Canadians. Use any double crust recipe to make. Spice Blend: 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 teaspoon dried thyme ½ teaspoon dried sage ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon ground ginger ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg ¼ teaspoon ground allspice ¼ teaspoon ground mustard ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves 1 pinch cayenne pepper Filling: 1 large russet potato, peeled, quartered 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 tablespoon butter 1 large onion, finely chopped 1 pinch salt ½ cup finely diced celery 4 cloves garlic, crushed 1 pound ground pork 1 pound ground beef 1 cup potato cooking water, plus more as needed Egg Wash: 1 large egg 1 tablespoon water To make the spice blend: Mix together salt, black pepper, thyme, sage, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, mustard, clove, and cayenne in a small bowl; set aside. To make the filling: Place potatoes and 1 teaspoon kosher salt in a saucepan; cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer potatoes to a bowl, reserving potato cooking water in the saucepan. Mash potatoes with a potato masher until smooth; set aside. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and a pinch of salt. Cook and stir until onions turn golden, 10 to 15 minutes. Stir celery, garlic, and spice blend into the skillet with onions. Stir until onion mixture is evenly coated with spices, about 30 seconds. Add ground pork, ground beef, and about 3/4 cup potato cooking water to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until meat is brown and tender and most of the liquid has evaporated, about 45 minutes. Stir in mashed potatoes, turn off heat, and let cool to room temperature. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Divide chilled dough into 2 pieces, one just slightly larger than the other. Roll the larger piece out on a lightly floured work surface into a 12-inch circle. Place in a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate. Roll top crust out into an 11-inch circle; set aside. Fill bottom crust with meat mixture; smooth out the surface. Whisk together egg and water in a small bowl to make an egg wash. Brush egg wash over the edges of the bottom crust. Cover with top crust; press lightly around the edges to seal. Trim excess dough and crimp the edges. Cut small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. Brush entire surface of pie with egg wash. Bake in the preheated oven until crust is well browned, about 1 hour. Let cool to almost room temperature before serving.
Interesting. I've lived in Sicily for 2 years and never heard of this. I'm going to ask around. Just in case you want to know the correct pronunciation, by Italian rules it would be sha-KYA-ta (3 syllables)..maybe shock-YA-ta is easier to make out!❤ ❤❤
Don’t know how to link but the closest to traditional Pastelon (that I found in English) is by the channel Buen Provecho TV and the video is called “ How to make Puerto Rican Piñon - Pastelon”.
That pie looks amazing, but the music!! Wow! You always choose lovely music but this one is exceptional and I'm going a bit crazy trying to identify it since it sounds very familiar, but I can't think what it's called. Please tell me!
🥧A Pie with Asian flare? 🌶️What about making a crust based on the Chinese scallion pancake and for filling doing a mix of ground pork/beef seasoned with a little soy sauce, and bundle of green onions (added after meat is fully cooked), sesame oil, blk pepper, pepper flake, very little brown sugar, chopped red bell pepper, shredded carrot. (I do a mix like this over rice or in lumpia) Im doing a similar mix tomorrow in dumplings!🥟
Ci = ch in english and chi = Ki in English so another language.... H is a blocker to stop the ci or ce saying the ch sound which is confusing coz in English ch goes Ch .... but I love your channel lol
When I watch your pie videos it makes me think of Sophie Dahl (Roald Dahls granddaughter) videos she did years ago of her baking some yummy dishes. I can only find clips of those videos but the full videos are lovely. I had them on CD (that I bought when we lived in China) around 2011. They are such great videos. But, like I said, your pie videos remind me of hers. They are dreamy and lovely. ua-cam.com/video/YimlUvcJlKo/v-deo.html

Oh how yummy that looks. The crust would be my favorite.❤
I would want some red sauce to dip it in. Looks great!
I think that blue FSY t-shirt is in every pie video 😂 This pie sounds DELICIOUS! Thank you Megan!

Everyone enjoying mom's baking looks delicious.
I honestly didn’t know some pies were made with a yeast dough. This looks amazing! I’ve definitely saved this to make sometime soon.
Looks so yummy!! ❤
Cooking one of mom's magical powers, I like that.

Maybe drain the meat mixture, line the bottom with tomato paste, add green pepper, mushroom, black olives , make it into a real pizza pie. Looks good.
Yum! That sounds delicious. I agree with all of this.
Looks delicious 😊

One of our local pizza places makes that with Italian beef and mozzarella. It is amazing!! They call it a beef roll but it just like a deep dish pie.
With aujous to dip it in.
Great pie!
( olives would be a great addition if you like them, especially as Sicily is known for them!)
This is like a deep dish pizza without sauce.

Hi Megan, the pie looks tasty, could you please make Turkish spinach and ricotta pie or the Hairy Bikers homity pie.
This pie would be good made in single serve option
Megan, you are good with dough.
🫒It’s the olive oil! The best flavor comes from EVOO.
THANK YOU Megan (and your family) for your video.

Hi Megan! Can you do a video about how you stopped eating sugar? That would be such a help to me! ❤
I grew up on this my grandmother made it she made it with pork butt and made her own Italian sausage
