I have and like the Ulanzi ST 14 that you mentioned in this video. But it has a couple things I don’t like. I don’t like having both those little knobs close together. I don’t always remember which one is which. I also don’t like the spring loaded jaws. I think the Ulanzi Iron Man III ST-14 is a much superior phone holder.
Love the breakdown of this and the lead up to the lanzi was looking everywhere like crazy for a clamp that can be safe enough for my new upgrade s24 ultra i have a ottorbox case and im hoping this clamp can reach over and be a great fittiing for this phone all and all great review
Funny, I just ordered a similar thing from Amazon yesterday, but it's from a brand called Arnarkok, it has extra 1/4 screw holes and it's cheaper than the Ulanzi one. Apart from that, it's pretty much similar. 4.5 stars out of more than a 1000 reviews, hopefully it'll last
Hey Glyn, as always thanks for doing the leg work. If there's any place to "test drive" an iPhone mount's wind resistance, the beautiful shores of Ol' England should suffice! Appreciate the insight from our favorite Brit. 😀 Clicking the link now. Cheers from Texas - Troy
Hi Glyn, great video as always and you’ve got me spending money again, just less of it this time. On the Ulanzi, is there a thread at the bottom that I can use to screw it onto my gorillapod? If not I’ll be looking for a small tripod head. Cheers Paul
Excellent mate! I love the Smallrig, as it's also great for hand held video, but the Ulanzi looks like a great option for mobile landscape photography. Thanks for sharing buddy 😎😎😎
Hi Glyn, I really like your videos, you do a great job. I have one question, do you use an external lens for your iPhone photography? if so, can you recommend some?
Nice review man. If the phone is in vertical position, is there enough space to charge the phone? I am going to use it on the car in vertical for GPS and I need to charge sometimes while using it. Thanks!
Thanks for that. As for the sapce to charge when it vertical position ... it wouldn't be possible as the lower part of the phone would be very near the base / arca swiss section of the holder.
If you have your phone in landscape you most likely have the clamp around the middle of the phone. Now try to roate the the phone to vertical, the bottom of your phone is going to hit the bottom of the mount keeping you from getting into vertical position, so you need to then adjust the phone in the jaws so that they are closer to the bottom of the phone so that your phone clears the holder. Its been demostrated in other videos. Here is on example. He shows several issues you can have with this holder starting at the 3 minute 6 seconds mark ua-cam.com/video/l6UJoSoof8Y/v-deo.htmlsi=VpuyHdmTv4xUB96L
Great video Glyn, would you happen to know of a good filter holder for an iPhone? I have a DJI Osmo Mobile and looking for a filter to slow down the shutter when creating Timelapse's
Hi Glyn. Thanks for the informative review. ST-27 looks very solid but does that set up negate using the USB C port (for an iPhone 15)? Where you'd normally plug an external mic, or an external drive etc. Cheers.
Hi Glyn I have read a review on amazon which stated this holder does not secure iphones 13 onwards, very well. According to them its because they have rounded endged and the holder is designed for older phoned with flat edges. I would like to ask if you have any comment on this - or is this just a person with a gripe? Thanks in advance
Cheers! My only issue with the concept has been the need for a massive tripod and phone holder, totally negating the space saving of iphone vs camera. This holder is really small and I imagine it will pair great with my table top tripod for a mobile solution, as well as with my Manfrotto. Purchased from your link :) I'm off now, to learn Reexpose.... EDIT: Just received it and what a great bit of kit it is; solid as a rock but so portable.
Hi Glyn I’m enjoying your tutorials a lot being a photographer myself. I got the ulanzi st-27 because it looked solid and practical in your video. It’s solid but the leg rotates easily and no matter how tight I turn the red screw part it keeps moving and rotating the same. In your video it looks you can lock the position. I can’t. I wonder if I got a defect item or if I’m just being stupid and missing something.
I bought an ipow and at £7.98 is amazing, yes it is not metal but it is sturdy, has both a rear and clamp knob to set your phone into it. will turn from landscape to portrait without taking your phone off. I can not see why anyone would want to pay nearly £40 for one when this is basically the same but not metal.
The video was great but sadly none of these holders (or any I can find) look like they have big enough jaws to hold a phone with a case...especially a case with a magnet on the back of it. If you can recommend a good mount for a Pixel 7 so I don't have to take my phone case off every time I want to record I would subscribe!!!
Really useful review - thank you!
Thank you
many thanks - just ordered
I love this mount - I have used this for a while. It’s rock solid and my go to!
Yeah I’m very impressed
So, I bought the thing on your recommendation. Not disappointed at all, quite the contrary. Thanks!
Nice one
Great job.Thanks!!
Thanks Sean
Ok you sold one. Ordered mine and got it in three hours from Amazon. It does seem pretty solid. Good tip.
Nice one … enjoy 👍🏻
I have one that is basically just like the Ulanzi made my Woohoto. I love it and it holds my iPhone 14 Pro Max securely! Thanks for the video!
You're welcome Sheila ... there's certainly a lot of choice / options out there

this is great, thank you so much.
Thanks for your great advice. I’m delighted to have followed your tip. Do you have a similar tip for a gimbal for my iPhone?
Good video Glyn.
Thank you Lyn
Just purchased, thanks Glyn 😎
I have Ulanzi ST-27, but I also got Ulanzi ST-28 Magnetic Phone Bracket and I prefer its usability. ST-28 works also with Apple silicone case.
Will definitely check that out ... thanks

Another useful video Glyn. I watch other people’s videos - I watch and save yours!
That's lovely to hear 😃 Hope you're keeping well out there

You should try Ulanzi ST-03. Works great and folded flat too.
Cheers

Hey Troy, thanks so much mate 😃
Well, I believe the smallrig must have been way more expensive than the ulanzi. Looking forward to the next video!
Hi Glyn, great video as always and you’ve got me spending money again, just less of it this time.
On the Ulanzi, is there a thread at the bottom that I can use to screw it onto my gorillapod?
If not I’ll be looking for a small tripod head.

Yes mate, there's a thread on the base so you'll be fine with that
@@glyndewis Brilliant thanks Glyn, off to Amazon 😃
The Reeflex lenses are out of stock, but that’ll be next.
Got it, it’s steady as a rock 👍🏻
Excellent mate! I love the Smallrig, as it's also great for hand held video, but the Ulanzi looks like a great option for mobile landscape photography. Thanks for sharing buddy 😎😎😎
Glad you like it mate; wait till the next video ... you'll love what's coming
Hi Glyn,
I really like your videos, you do a great job.
I have one question, do you use an external lens for your iPhone photography? if so, can you recommend some?
Thank you Ludovit.
Yes I do use external lenses from time to time and use the ones from ReeFlex
ulanzie st-27 is excellent.
Sure is
I bought the ST-27 and it came today. I wish the holder was not spring loaded, but a screw to turn like for the locking on it it that makes sense?
I'm with you there on the effect of wind on my tripod+phone "SAIL" ...🤦🏻♂
😃
Thanks Glen, a great review of iPhone “holders”. Do have review / comments on iPhone lens kits?
Cheers Peder. I will have very soon … just waiting for manufacturer to finalise production of some new ones.
Can you recommend a ball head mount to go with the st27?
I just use the one that came with my Benro Tripod but whichever you go for , just make sure it's capable of holding everything rock steady.

Thanks for that. As for the sapce to charge when it vertical position ... it wouldn't be possible as the lower part of the phone would be very near the base / arca swiss section of the holder.
@@glyndewis Thanks man. Even with phone in vertical holded in their lower position? Thanks again!!
Yeah it wouldn't work
One downfall is if you want to go from vertical to horizontal you will most likely have to remove the phone first
No you don’t
If you have your phone in landscape you most likely have the clamp around the middle of the phone. Glyn Peak Design adapters are magic. You get what you pay for etc.
Yeah great kit but not suitable for me as I use the occasional additional lens attached and I use magsafe
Great video Glyn, would you happen to know of a good filter holder for an iPhone? I have a DJI Osmo Mobile and looking for a filter to slow down the shutter when creating Timelapse's
ReeFlex make a variable ND filter that clips over the lenses. I’ve got it and it’s very quick and easy to fit / use mate.
I have a phone holder from RRS, if you’d like to talk about; well made, quality material, and expensive. You might look at the one by Kirk as well.
Cheers Larry
Ha ... I've just done a lot of researching to get a good holder, and wondered if your one was as good as the one I found ...
It's the same one ! ;)
🤣
Any iphone holder with hotshoe mount? thanks
The ulanzi has a cold shoe mount

Glyn, what app do you use for long exposure on your phone?
I do Raw long exposure using ReeXpose

Tim I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and it holds it VERY securely; the jaws definitely are big enough
@@glyndewis thanks for the prompt reply - will be getting one

You missed one important thing; How do you charge you phone if it is the vertical position? The frame then is directly in the way!!
Not such an important issue ... just charge it before you go out OR ... if you must charge it in the mount, just turn it upside down 🤷♂️
Looking for a noubt with deep jaws. Have a galaxy s22 in an otterbox
I have a Galaxy Zfold4.. The jaws don't look deep enough for it to have a great grip on my phone. What do you think??
Hi Glyn I’m enjoying your tutorials a lot being a photographer myself. I got the ulanzi st-27 because it looked solid and practical in your video. The red knob is to lock the spring jaws the black knob is for locking the rotation
Buy cheap? Buy twice. I love it
Great review, good perspectives. Thanks!!!
Any solid holder that doesn't cover up the camera on my phone to mount on a bike? I want to film my bike trips with my phone
You have probably solved this by now, but for bike rides I would go with quadlock or rockform.
Would it be suitable for a Samsung 22 Ultra? Advice for the Droids please!
Absolutely 👍🏻

Time will tell I guess 😉
@@glyndewis Funny that is what they say about putting plastics into landfill
My only concern is if this Ulanzi mount would scratch my phone in any way?
It’s got plenty of protection on the grips.
@@glyndewis Thank you!

I have a case on my phone and this one works a treat with plenty of space in the jaws for a deeper phone
EBay £27
Nice one
