    I don't think anyone should ever speak to law enforcement. You have the right to remain silent. Use that right. They twist things just like all other people. They have their own agenda and the truth and justice are very often not even on their radar. Get a lawyer. Always. You should only know one word when speaking to law enforcement and that is 'lawyer'.

      Agreed, but I think he figured he'd talk to set up his story and repeat some of his lies. Remember, right after he got off the phone with the police, he called the Justin guy, the one who said he hadn't talked to Todd in months. Plus, by this point, the lady told him they were looking at Barb's bruises. Based on this interview and his testimony, he tried to stay vague beyond a point bc his story was falling apart.

    Any time someone says that they “never fight” with their spouse/partner, that’s a red flag. Todd told a LE officer at the “accident” scene that he and Barbara were “always together” as if that’s proof that they had a perfect and loving relationship. To me it was indicative of a controlling and overly enmeshed spouse (most likely Todd). He creeps me out.

    1:15:10 Defense attorney gets tangled up in a physics discussion he knows nothing about. The detective’s plain and simple answers are considerably more intuitive than the attorney’s attempt to sound clever and to mislead. The attorney got off that subject real quick when he realized that he himself didn’t understand even grade school physics.

    • @kimthreadgold2755
      @kimthreadgold2755 4 роки тому +4

      He knew the physics didnt add up. He tried to just create reasonable doubt to the jury regarding the police evidence. Defense attorneys need to try and discredit any evidence that will make their client look guilty. Evisence against Todd was overwhelming.He couldnt do anything about Todd's explanations and lies to the police prior to representing him..You would think someone who installs front windshield glass would have know how to stage the accident better.

    • @rayray8687
      @rayray8687 4 роки тому +6

      Kim Threadgold: There’s no doubt the defense attorney had a tough job ahead considering the bunch of nonsense he was handed by his client. I doubt he believed a word of it but, of course, his job isn’t to believe anything, it’s to convince at least one juror to believe it. Predictably he failed. As for the poorly staged “accident” I believe Todd did this in sheer panic after he levelled a left hook into Barb’s face and broke her nose in a spontaneous fight in the car. I don’t believe he planned any of it until he dragged her out of her car, strangled her and smashed her skull against the rear wheel. That undoubtedly was the worst decision of his life...and pretty much the last decision he’ll get to make. The lawyer? Well let’s just say he did what he was required to do.

      Because you love and miss him plus don't have your" fill" worth of 28 years pleasing him when you never ever really wanted to!
      The way Todd speaks of his and Barb's life together and the things she counted on him helping her with .....well not in so much in the words he used to describe it....but during his description of things,I could just feel a horrible deep resentment radiating out from down inside him!
      Even though he did an awesome job of hiding it and keeping how he really felt
      "on the down low" it was massive and I truly think that even though he did so very many little things(filling her huge mug with water ect.) for her again and again every year... I think he hated stopping his time away from fishing every year camping at cranfest-when she called for him to stop fishing,she was done shopping for the things she wanted to buy so he had to stop fishing because she was done it was time for him to take the bus down to come and help her with the things !
      Did you hear him speak of this in interogation...she bought at the cranfest or whatever it was called.....so probably packing to go for the 29th time and her griping once again about the pricy windsheild still in her way once again and that he still hadn't yet recouped the money for, that they had lost money on ,because of him buying it without a deposit.....
      I bet her griping that morning (because he was really just a weazel in disguise)
      sent him over the edge to where his built up hate and true feelings finally came out. He wasn't a man.

    If nothing else, Todd is a MASTER at sticking to his lie. They are really trying to jack him up..nothing; they are trying to keep him there, make him exhausted so he trips up..nothing; they are trying to put words in his mouth…nothing. This man ain’t budging. I would be so tired, falling asleep. I don’t know why he just doesn’t say, “I’m done,” and leave or AT THE VERY LEAST say, “I want a lawyer,” and walk out of there. I just don’t get it unless, he wants to see what they have on him or maybe he really thinks he’s smarter than everyone else. Who know?!?

      When my father was severely injured the police drove my mother to the hospital. The next day they drove my sister there. The police don't want to deliver devastating news and have that person drive alone it is dangerous. The real question here is why was Todd throwing a fit over it? Could it be he wanted to get to the family before the officers asked some questions? I lived in a small town when my father died so to me it's normal they would drive them. I believe they also live in a small town.

      They told him more than once he was free to leave or get a lawyer. He chose to speak with them. I'm sure that they did not force her to ride with them. He probably should have kept his lying "I don't recall," and changing up his story to himself. I also believe he was taking his wife's anxiety meds.
      I feel so sorry for his children. It will be just a matter of time when they come to realize he did kill her. The point I'm making is not so much the police taking her to the hospital, it is the fact that Todd was in fear of what she might say when it came to the perfect marriage.

      *@Lindsay Cree* - Are you a psychologist, so that you understand how an “acute psychotic episode” works?? Well, I _AM_ a psychologist, and can tell you emphatically that people don’t have them out of a clear blue sky and then immediately snap out of them when police arrive, as you are positing here. The acute type of episode lasts less than one month, and psychotropic medication is needed to ease the psychosis....this never resolves on its own.
      I know it’s very tempting to use words and phrases from whatever iteration of the DSM you care to use, but if you use them, you unfortunately need to have earned a degree and license to know what you’re talking about. And, for you to know how to apply these terms, you need several years of graduate school, thousands of hours of supervised practice (depending on the state you’re in-my state requires *3000 HOURS* ), and a dissertation. That also goes for “diagnosing” people you see while watching trials on UA-cam which, incidentally, no psychologist would ever do.... _in order to diagnose a person with a psychological disorder, you actually have to evaluate him or her._ So I hope this will help you to understand that you need to stop using psychological nomenclature in future.
