So crazy to see what it looks like now. I must be retro myself. Because I worked in the shoe department when it was Bergner’s. But I remember buying records downstairs and they’re used to be a Last Straw restaurant in there as well as a Waldenbooks. This was when I was in high school 1989. Thank you for The video tour. I remember going in that backside door to work many a day. I live in California now. But it’s fun to stroll down memory lane on UA-cam.
My hubby and I bought our first mattress at Gustafson’s right before they closed 8 years ago. $1,500 then 😂 Did you ever go to the dollar theater in the North Town Mall a couple doors down to the right in the late 90s/early 00s or the Clocktower next door on the river???
@@mallaholicretailadventures This was probably the most happening shopping area of Rockford (besides downtown) in the late 50s before the East State Street boom.
It was Weise's for many years I have a lot of memories of that store.Buying new school clothes every summer

I'm glad I could jog your memory thank you for watching
Awesome footage! At least the place still looks good!
Man it was epic back in the day, the elevator.. The Radio shack...
That was a Bergner's store. I did Display in that store in the late 1980's. It was an enclosed mall then. There was a warehouse area in the back.
Opened in 1956, closed in 2018 sadly since this part of Rockford hasn't been doing so good for many years now, it'll likely stay vacant for a while

Gustafson's had that whole building. There was no Good Will there.
That was Northtowne mall years ago.
3 years later, and it's still sitting vacant. No joking, because I had to stop at Pawn Daddy.
My sister lives just west of there still vacant as of last week when I went too see her
Remember as a little kid in 50s then 60s when Weise's, the entrance was a wall of rushing a/c rather than doors.
This was a beautiful piece I found. One of my favorite abandoned videos I've done. Looks like it hasn't been touched since the 50s and 60s.
