It was great to be able to take part in your first livestream last week, even though my location in the Antipodes meant I couldn’t stay very long. I’m glad it was a success. Money is the only Martin Amis book I’ve read but I am interested in sampling some of his essays at some point. I am more of a fan of his father, to be honest, but nobody can deny his talent as a writer.
As a George Eliot and Middlemarch fanatic, it is scandalous that I have not gotten round to reading an Eliot biography, which I have wanted to do for some time. Mr Donoghue says he has yet to find one that has fully satisfied him, which is rather deflating, but won't stop me from diving into one at some point. I sympathise with your difficulties navigating the weeds of Bloom's dense and bloated prose. I have been making my way through his Poems of the English Language and I have been increasingly skimming his explanations to get to the poems themselves. I have a soft spot for Ladislaw, so it gladdens the heart to know that you have chivalrously volunteered yourself to defend the worth of this most peculiar character. I look forward to reading the essay!
Well I have to admit, Hull KR were the better team on the night and a few decisions went against you. As much as I'm in favour of rules for the players' safety, I disliked the unsportsmanlike conduct and Dupree should have gone off for an assessment if there was that much concern. That try by French though! I think it will be a close run thing in the play offs. Never read Henry James' essay but I agree with your analysis on Ladislaw. His backstory is given relatively early on in the book and Dorothea's sympathy goes out to him for his family circumstances and her feelings gradually build from there, even if she doesn't fully realise it until she walks in on him and Rosamund. It's a subtle build up, but all the more realistic for it and I especially love Mr Farebrother's aunt's involvement in that particular storyline.
Thank you for your honesty regarding rugby league. Pretty soon we'll be seeing the theatrics that used to be the preserve of football grounds; players feigning injuries so as to get an opponent sent off!
As an Avid Spivey viewer, I would like to apologise for not making haste an landing myself into the chat of the first of many Spivey streams. Australia doesn't tend to enjoy being fair with its time-zones and I wasn't much looking forward to a 3am viewing! Hopefully I can make one soon! Watched a bit of this video but will come back to it when I get the chance later this eve!
What do you think of writing a poem? Stupid, silly, unriming or riming, just a short poem with clings and clangs and fangs and all kinds of weird things. I bet you are thinking of avoiding this chalenge

Welcome to my channel, where all Middlemarch fanatics boisterously cohabit!
Ooh, I must go seek out a copy of James's essay on Middlemarch! Best of luck on your essay writing!
I don't need luck Madam! 🤣
@@JoeSpivey02 I so wish I didn’t!

Oh the poems I have written,
And the bullets I have bitten,
Those fans who call for words,
Expect some straightened turds.
