    Outstanding video!! You did an excellent job of going through how to check the belt deflection. I've got a 2019 FXT Mule that is stuttering and I'm about to change the belt. It's got about 3,600 miles (bought it used) on it so I'll be checking the deflection to see what it needs. I'll be buying a few new tools now that I know how this is done. I've always done my own work (65 years old now) whenever I can on whatever vehicle I've owned. You got a new subscriber here, I really like how you went through the entire setup. You may want too check on the torque requirements of the bolts though, getting them torqued properly is always better than 3 seconds of uga duga. You mentioned getting the Kawasaki manual, I bet it has the torque requirements in it.

    Good day Sir John, love the video.... Question: why would my 2019 Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT keep eating belts? Would it be due to a tension/belt adjustment problem? Need help :)

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  7 місяців тому

      If you are eating belts there could be several things that "could" be the cause. My #1 would be damaged shieve faces, something got in there and damaged the metal and as the belt passes by it rips up the belt. LOTS of force on these belts. #2, if the clutches are wore out, lots of rocking play from wore out bushings, you can sure get abnormal wear. #3, cheap aftermarket belts, I will only recommend the OEM, on this unit, anything else is asking for failure, never see good luck.

    Hey there John another question , as I watch you reassembling the secondary clutch I noticed only grease you use is on the pins themselves. No grease inside the shaft ? And should those pins fit tight in there?

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  7 місяців тому

      Correct, you put only a film on the shaft it slides on, like I talked about, once you get the 1st one in, it is just a little jiggle and they drop in, the grease helps hold them in place so they don't just fall out, and I like to twist to hold it till I get the spring back on and under pressure.

    Just bought and epi severe duty belt and clutch kit, will it be fine or do I need to buy a kawasaki belt?

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  8 місяців тому +1

      The kawi belts are best by far from our experience. But you can use the epi belt as well, just won't get the life span, but will work fine

    Will this help with putting it in gear and it wants to roll right away? Driving around after machine gets warmed up it does it alot more. When u stop it wants to keep rolling never kicks out of gear

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  3 місяці тому

      @jakesimek6444 well... yes and no.
      Yes if the belt is too tight causing drag and belt squeeze while you have it in gear and holding the brake.
      No if your clutches are really wore and they are "rocking" back and forth a lot. (Worn shafts bushings). This can cause the clutch to lock up and not full disengage holding the belt. If you turn off the engine and you hear a "clang" from the clutch, it is binding. Either way sounds like it is time to check the belt and clutches.

    Working on setting the deflection on a 2016 Bruteforce 750. ORM primary and secondary as well as belt. Do you have the part number for the Kawasaki belt deflection tool. Manuel states to apply 13 pounds of pressure to belt to measure deflection. I’d like to use kawi tool for an accurate reading. Thanks

    Hey John, my 2022 Pro FXT is hanging up when trying to shift between the gears a bit. Once in the gear I have no issues at all. Could this be due to the belt needing adjustment or is that something with the shift linkage? Thanks so much for the help!

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  4 місяці тому

      hard to say without seeing it, but would say it could be filthy cable if you are in water alot, could just need to get the cable lubed real good, and possible adjustment. IF the belt is too tight, it could drag on the secondary clutch and make it a little harder to change gears and when it does you will hear a solid clunk as the clutches come to a stop, almost like you are shifting while on the gas a little bit. Another possibility is your idle may be off, it is controlled by a air valve on the throttle body, We have seen if a lot of dirt gets in there it sticks and will not idle down enough, you can check to make sure it is idling below 1500rpms, if over the clutch can drag. Just some ideas to look into, hard to point what it is without seeing it like I said but things to look at.

      @@HesterEdition Thanks for the quick response. Just subscribed to your channel. I will look into these things. I am guessing the service manual will show how to check/adjust these items including the shift cable? The machine is just for farm use and only has 125 hours. @michaelabbott8431 not hurt in the short term, but will wear the belt and clutches much faster in the long run, and will hurt your pocket book lol. Doing this keeps performance and lifespan of the parts and will save you lots over the years.

    • @michaelabbott8431

      @HesterEdition I had a different opinion say that the hesitation has to do with the engine needing to hit a certain rpm to engage. Which is the reason for the mild initial hesitation. Any opinion on that second opinion?

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  11 місяців тому +1

      @@michaelabbott8431you do need some rpm to engage yes, BUT, if you are barley breathing on the throttle and it shudders, feels like it is slipping, that is a sign the belt is loose. It should be glass smooth on take off, and have 0 drag or creeping while in gear and no throttle.

    Would a worn-out belt and too much deflection keep a 2004 3010 from reaching speeds of at least 19 mph. Top speed, i believe, is 25mph. It's only running at 14mph cant figure out the main issue!

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  9 місяців тому +1

      There is no deflection on the 3010 set up, but yes, a wore out belt OR wore out clutches will for sure effect top speed.

    What grease should we use on those splines and the o-rings on the primary? Just pulled mine off and its's pretty dry.

    • @HesterEdition
      @HesterEdition  9 місяців тому

      A good salt water proof, high temp, you don't need much, just a super thin coating to create a barrier between the metals and prevent freezing up. Too much the centrifugal force will fling it around and get on the belt and faces and create problems. Just enough to feel some on it, a film.
