- Resin 3D flower coaster
I used Dalchem Crystal Clear resin to make this resin flower. I also used white and blue pigment pastes from Armor Art and Pinata alcohol inks to create this 3D flowers.

I’ve seen a lot of artists’ videos making coasters. I have to say, yours are the best, for a number of reasons. You explain your process in detail, your presentation is friendly but professional, and the tips you offer along the way are invariably useful. There is none of that irritating music! But most of all, your results, even the coasters you think have mistakes in them, are always lovely. Your colour sense and artistry inspire me every time. ❤️❤️. Don’t ever stop!
Margaret Perry agreed
Yes indeed love your videos!!😁😁👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💯
I think the blobby bits add character to the flowers. Definitely love the look and they wouldn’t be so creative and interesting without them
What if you made circles, then run your stick through to make petals and then put your glitter in last. See if that helps from getting the blobs. Just an idea.
I make mine like this, it's much easier x
I agree with Margaret, always beautiful in every way!
Pretty love the blue and white so fresh
Julie, these are lovely. Blue and white is a favorite color combo of mine. And I really appreciate the details you give in your tutorials! I hope you are staying safe and continue to be well. Big hugs ~Cheryl
I like your blue on blue flower. Good job these came out pretty good. 👍
Looks wonderful. To reduce the blobs, just pull a stick through the joins...it'll distribute the opaque resin lines more evenly x
Love the 3-d of the coasters. The stronger, less transparent white and blue are beautiful. Wonderful! Glad you have the mask on and the ventilation in the studio. Stay safe!
Loving the adventures in resin
Lovely! Thanks Julie for experimenting. Your coasters always turn out great.😊
Very pretty love the blue
I like the points.Pretty blue!
The peddles are so pretty
Absolutely beautiful! Love them ❤️
These are still beautiful even though they didn’t come out quite the way you wanted. The paste created a vibrant color. That is really nice. This technique would be fun to try with other shapes like a triangle or square.
I like the extra lines you added btw!!
Beautiful blue!
Lovely. To reduce the blobs, offset your peddles. You did that on one of you coaster videos and they were beautiful. No blobs on the back and the peddles were wispy.
Love the colours - beautiful :)
They are very cool.
They are very pretty I think
Very nice! I think I may have to order some of the Armor pigments. They look very concentrated and vivid. I like!
Who comments more than me? I would love to see you do a resin bowl, I bet it would be amazing!
I love biscotti. You should post your recipe. Love the coasters!
Yay! You did two! GORGEOUS! I count too....even while pouring water into my coffee.
Love the dark blue and white, both sides, although i understand why you chose the reverse side.
So pretty
Love this colour combo Julie. Have a friend request for blue, white & silver..... now I have a visual, I feel more confident. Thank you 💖
Awesome! 🤗
🤣🤣 I'm a counter too up and down the stairs lol💯😁
Have you ever tried piping circles or rings of each color and then using the pointed end of your stick to drag from the outside to the center to make the petals? Then heat gun? I do that with royal frosting on sugar cookies.
That blue you made was amazing. And thanks for the tip on how to stop it from going purple.
I make mine like this, it's much easier x
Beautiful 👍
Julie check out Artist Till Death they ship worldwide and sell all kinds of resin supplies, these are very pretty
Love your coasters real pretty I like all of them I even like the air bubbles lol all very elegant and your great teacher explaining everything so well thank you
I like them.
The objects you call blobs look like buds, great looking flowers. Sue Wright
Beautiful
Thank you soo much for sharing this technique! Looks amazing! *off to find bigger molds...
If you did the "points" in green it should look like leaves...
I’m on the next flight.....same me some! 🥳
I like the blue much better than the white side.
Awesome. Love the navy blue. I already ordered some colours of them. Next week I expect their metallics. Woohooe💙
I love the colours and the petals are beautiful. I just received my pigment order so I’ll be trying this out ASAP. Thanks for the inspiration Julie, always look forward to watching you create 💙
Maybe try the same technique with resin you are used to? I understand trying other products but with your experimenting, I bet the armor art would work with the other resin. Reducing bubbles.... just a thought. I’ll follow either way!
Wow absolutely gorgeous. Love it. I have ask, how can white be dark?. Lol I am just kidding you. I know what you meant. Maybe for your little points you could make up a tiny bit of green and they would look like a touch of leaves.
KS resin or Naked Fusion. Both companies sell a deep cast, up to 2 inch layers and sell a coating resin for top coats Good reviews from youtubers. Haven't tried it myself.
I know several people who use the KS Resin. They use it to seal their painted rocks and love it. I have personally seen the results in gifts I have received.
They don't send to Australia
Can you turn the flower to hit them with heat differently. The colors are great👍
Love love the colours by using the two different pigment paste and the ink is that just for better colours? Love watching and learning from your videos we could hear you clearly 😊
I meant in my post Kathii LaPieere Art. She does different flowers in resin.
Very nice I like the gold with the navy. Have you ever watched Cathil LAPieere Art she does different flower coasters like a poppy, rose, zina and several more she may can give you some ideas on designs you could try. Love ya have a lovely day I’m going to bed. Goodnight 🌙💤
wonder if it would stand out more if you do your points in the opposite color. or do circles and run your skewer thru to make the rounded petals
Those are so pretty!! I have watched several of your videos and really enjoyed and appreciate all your informative tips. I haven't tried to do anything with resin yet, because I'm worried about the fumes. Do you wear a mask/respirator and fans or some sort of ventilation, for the fumes? They turned out beautiful!!
Mary Stribling respirator helps. Depending on a resin....There are company’s that sell less obtrusive resin odors, toxic free
I love watching your videos. You explain and experimenting every time!
I went on armor art and ordered some paste for myself. Did you tried their epoxy resin? I wanted to buy some but couldn’t find any information on how heat resistant it is. It says that casting resin has a 60 min work time which is very good for beginners like me when I always rushing and sometimes wasting my resin.
I wonder if coming back to the centre each time would remove those ‘blobbies’? It seems like the blobs appear at the pivot points, not necessarily your piping hole too large. The heaviness of the centre would be hidden by the glitter and adding more glitter to the top would cover that side as well. Love your vids and beautiful art.
Loving watching you experimenting with all the resins etc., the flowers are looking so good. When you get a chance could you do a bloom acrylic pour? Will you be doing classes/workshops again?
Very nice but try using alcohol spray for the bubbles cause that resin isn't that good
Wow, I absolutely LOVE the clear with the edging! That is so funny that you say you're a counter and you don't know why. I do the same thing. Curious, must have something to do with OCD. I don't "really" have OCD, as in I haven't been diagnosed, but I guess it's maybe a mild form.
I don't know how much they cost, of ic they are compatible with your phone, bug I've seen others use a little remote control for their phones. May make it a bit easier.
I’m a counter too. A little OCD?
Are you mixing liquid pigment (ex: ResinTint by ArtResin) with alcohol based ink? Or are you using strictly alcohol based ink only?
I follow the directions but still can’t get the pedals to puff up much at all! Tried 5 times! I’m using Dr Crafty resin. 2 gtts of cast’n craft, 1 or 2 gtts of alcohol ink to 20 grams or 20ml of resin x’s 2 batch’s. I wait for resin to thicken abit. Help!!
Beautiful! What resin did you use this time?
will doing these flowers only work with pigment paste?
Julie are those just pastry bags? Ive had a hard time using zip loc bags. Maybe those would be easier
Yes, from ebay
the link is a girl on here that makes these she uses 10 drops of that white paste
