This is one of those movies that you can watch again, and again and again. Like Back to the Future. They never get boring and you always find something new.
What's scary about this theme....if they decided to remake The Mask and do The Big Head Killer story where Stanley is a murdering psychopath, this music would still fit.
Oh god... it would, Ive never realized it before but DAMM that’s a pretty good example of grey music(as in it could work for before a hero and a villain)
What I love about this theme is that it’s not specifically for Stanley Ipkiss as the mask, or even Dorian Tyrell as the mask. it’s more fitting of the mask itself, as the icon of chaos and container of dark magic it is.
Yeah.. and honestly I like the origin this movie gave the mask (it being an ancient Norse artifact instead of an ancient South American ritual mask like it was in the comics) .. it’s more fitting to be honest
@@KeifersIsAwesome but then that makes me wonder.. why is it that when the magic in the mask is used, it turns the wearer into a real life rubber hose cartoon? XD
0:00 - 0:09 always gives me so many emotional 90s chills when I see the NLC logo coming together onscreen at the very beginning of this movie, that I wish that last note in the starting verse would've been held a little longer. Plus, hearing about 'The Mask' hero in the comics makes this theme even more wonderfully strange and creepy.
+Camw1n Agreed. Most of the best superhero themes, that aren't considered Batman and Superman, came from the 90's, and were from more obscure or not as popular characters like The Mask, The Rocketeer, The Phantom, The Shadow etc... Largely due to the fact that this was before Hollywood was obsessed with constant noise on a lot of their blockbusters. Although I do enjoy Zimmer's work on Nolan's Batman trilogy, and Marvel can make some good scores and themes, I'd say The Mask's actual theme and overall score is better contrasted then most of them. A lot of memorable music in it, including the theme.
can't forget the scene where the subs freed the mask, and it slowly merge, with this theme at 1:15 ....it gives me chills everytime, after all these years..!!!!!
sadly a missed opportunity..... at this point their only shot at a sequel to this storyline would be to have Jim Carrey play The Mask using CGI because at this point Jim is almost 60 which is way too old to play "The Mask" if we are gonna be real. A CGI sequel is a GUARANTEED Box office success, as long as they 1. Put fourth the effort. 2. DO NOT CAVE INTO THE SJW CULTURE!!!!! THEY WILL DEFINETELY FLOP AND LOSE MONEY IF THEY DO THAT!!!!! Just stay true to the original story and it will be a guaranteed success I would also like to see a reboot of the Rob Paulsen "The Mask" cartoon That was unjustly cancelled, I only recently found out about its existence but it is hands down one of the best shows ever

The quieter, more melancholic and romantic parts of the song represent Stanley's own influence on the mask. The most explosive part of the song represents what the mask really is. The music is kind of bipolar (in a good way) precisely because of that. The mask came from the Norse era, more precisely from Loki. The mask behaves according to the person's intentions, whether they are evil or not. Stanley was a good, romantic and playful person just like Jim Carry himself. I love this song and I've been head over heels in love with Jim Carrey ever since, he's amazing outside of acting too. This soundtrack gives me goosebumps
I love how this gives a mysterious aurora to the mask . Its GREAT for that its creepy and shows there is something underlying behind the mask.. giving a feeling that you have never seen its full power even in the movie.

For anyone who's as interested as I am in the haunting chords in the beginning, they should be C major, E minor, E flat suspended fourth and D flat suspended fourth.
