Thanks for the video, I'm thinking about purchasing this myself. I don't understand those other comments being so negative. I was happy with the video, always nice to see what it's like in real situations instead of marketing videos where everything is perfect. I do wish that you would show the cut in detail at the end to get an idea of how clean it was. And if you do, please edit in a still photo instead of moving the tile in and out of focus as most other videos do.

Thank you for the compliment and the advice. The cut was pretty clean for most people. I’m the type that also polished the edge to be even cleaner, even though I had a Schluter trim and the fireplace had it’s own cover that I was unaware of. Overall, I am happy with the tool, and couldn’t have done the fireplace tile job without it. A short fireplace video is on my Tik Tok (same channel name).

@@craftsmanconnection now I got mine and it is really good! Your advice to go through multiple times really helps with the edge quality and in my experience the best result I get when I set it very shallow the first go (1mm).

Good video, pros cons, mistakes. Actual representation of working in the field. For the price of this saw and the track and fittings might just buy a bridge saw.

Did it make your knees or back hurt to watch me cut tile just above my clients concrete driveway?
You’re welcome for the tool search advice. Nothing like having a real world, unbiased, non-corporate opinion.

      Ouch. LOL
Anyway, that's not the topic here, sorry. I'm looking to process 4 ft and longer, and a wet saw would be huge to carry around.

I bought this wet circular saw for this clients 2’ x 4’ tile and it worked well. I mentioned how long it took to cut across 2’ so contractor types could estimate their jobs with more accuracy.

I tried my Rubi TC 125 G2 for the first time yesterday. The blade broke on my third cut. Broke in a weird place. About two inches of the center broke out of the blade.
Rubi used to be a decent product. But no more. They have abandoned the installer for the bottom line. Rubi is nothing but garbage nowadays.

Were you just doing a straight cut? Can you think of anything weird you might have been doing? I know it’s how annoying it is to buy a tool, and it’s not quite up yo what should be considered standard: maybe something like no problems whatsoever for the first full year under professional usage.

@@craftsmanconnection straight cut. 4 1/4 inch rips. Brand new saw. 3/8 thick 24×48" porcelain. First two rips went fine. 3rd rip the blade stopped spinning. At first I thought it was just loose. Did not take me long to realize the whole center had broken out of it.
I've been setting tile for 30 years now and have never seen anything like it.

@darrelpompilius8637 How was the water flow during all of this? Just wondering if Rubi had such a cheap blade material, that they’d blame the amount of water. I haven’t used my saw for anything since that October 2022 job. I prefer my wet saw over. Every other option, unless I have to use something else.

@@craftsmanconnection water flow was fine. My feet were getting soaked.
And I agree about the wet saw. I have a Raymondi bridge saw that will cut up to 54" but it is on another job for the next week.

Imagine leaving the electric cord in the path of the flowing water.

    • @craftsmanconnection
      @craftsmanconnection  Рік тому

I have imagined that. Fortunately the Rubi TC-125 has a built in GFCI protection, and typically all exterior outlets and garage outlets that one might plug this into should also be GFCI protected, so the risk is very minimal. GFCI kill the power to the wet saw motor, basically, without explaining the whole path of current.
