Did that trip myself across Moonen Bay in a lumpy sea, years before sea kayaking was a major sea sport. Camped by the lighthouse. Wonderful reminiscence. Actually paddled Mallaig to Loch Pooltiel and Glendale via the west side of Skye.

Stringtrees same here, we live on Anglesey and was thinking of buying a kayak... after watching the Anglesey videos he did, that made my mind up!
I've been enjoying the delights of kayaking ever since

Thanks mate, I think it would be ungentlemanly and indeed caddish not to share such experiences.

Absolutely love your videos mate..... got a sea kayak last year brand new to this but you both inspire me, although I definitely need a few lessons and wouldn’t at this point have the confidence to go out on my own... what maps do you use to plan your trips and does your mate have a channel.... if you’re ever up Scotland again I’d love to go out with you... I’m just outside Edinburgh...cheers Gordon

Thanks Robin, these trips were some of the very best, the conditions were perfect, but the scenery was just another level. Idrigill Point is one of the BEST places I've paddled in the UK, it is well on par with the likes of Land's End, and a total doddle to do, with little to worry about with tidal conditions, just light winds is all one needs.

Neist Point is one of my absolute favourite places to be in all the world, for walking, fishing and faffing about on the water. The last time I went for a paddle there I was harrassed by dolphins, porpoises, minky whales, basking sharks and Im pretty sure an orca came within 50 feet of me for a look see. pretty scary in an inflatable. I went out around 5 miles, but the water got too lumpy so I had to turn back. I'm going to try to get back there this summer. Im pretty sure its pronounced Neest too. Not that it matters.

The view over to the lighthouse at the end is just one of the finest views ANYWHERE in my opinion. You're right it is 'Neest' - tomayto, tomarto, who cares eh? ha ha.

Yes indeedy, Ram. They just get better, believe it or not. The penultimate paddle was just about as good as anything I've done, Matt reckons it's the best paddle we've ever done, and it would be very hard to argue with him.

One of the very best I can ever remember, days like these you just don't want to end, and it's light until 11pm.

You are the font of all knowledge, Filo. Went through all that and found it fascinating, I knew it was due to atmospheric refraction, but it's nice to know the full explanation of it all. We were so lucky on this occasion.
