The hyperion is a breath of fresh air for tata engines. They finally made a proper 1.2L that has potential to take on the world. Finally the days of those tiny turbos on the zest and nexon are over, as tata finally are using garrett turbos. This also means that to a limited extent, perfomance tuning will be better. I cant wait for this same engine to into something like a tiago or altroz, would really like if JTP came back with a tuned hyperion. Just imagine a 120-130 hp tiago jtp. That would be a powerhouse. The VCT may not come close to something like VTEC but in the case of engines, tata is in the right path. Anybody want a racemo??
THIS IS GOOD REVIEW.. ALL OTHERS ARE JUST LOUD ON NO PERFORMANCE, NO PERFORMANCE. 90% Indians who buy tata punch and Tata Nexon likes planted cars..those reviewers are just mad.
Best review yet! IMHO the most puzzling thing is Tata making such a big deal out of introducing this new turbo petrol, but then offering it in only 7 out of 35 variants. They should've started phasing out the old 1.2 with the Curvv by only offering the GDi and the diesel. Having 2 engines so close in performance makes no sense !
Honestly, the current car market in India has lost the plot. Everywhere you look, it’s gloss black everything, and we all know what that means-scratches, fingerprints, and dust galore. Who thought this was a good idea for Indian roads and weather? Then there’s the obsession with these angular body lines and LED lights that are supposed to look futuristic, but they just scream “mid” without adding any real utility. And what happened to variety in interior colors? Now, it’s black-on-black, which just makes cramped car interiors feel even smaller. Remember when lighter shades actually made the cabin feel more spacious? But nope, now it’s like every carmaker forgot that trick. Don’t even get me started on this weird coupe trend. It’s like brands are trying to force premium design into mass-market cars, and it’s just... why? Regular cars should focus on practicality and good design thinking, not gimmicks. The average consumer is just looking for a few solid, competitive options, not a wannabe luxury experience. Maybe invest in better features and quality instead of chasing trends that don’t really fit. Of course, this is just my rant and opinion. I just came back from searching for a few compact SUVs, only to find I’ve gotta shell out 5 lakh extra as part of road tax, insurance, and a bunch of other BS details, lol. Keen to hear your opinions, lads.
Agree with you, brands are just focused on cost cutting i.e. plastic buttons, thankfully HVAC still has physical buttons who knows for how long? VW did this in the EU market with the Golf Mk8 and they were forced to go back to physical 'actual' buttons rather than virtual plastic buttons. Nobody is talking about this. What if the panel goes bad? what about the replacement cost? Also, what about the ergonomics? Secondly, the craze about road presence factor and sunroof. It's idiotic. Neither of these so-called (fake) SUV's have any 4x4 or differential or anything for rough off-road terrain. Tata Safari is a FWD . That's laughable yet people still buy it for the road presence and fake SUV factor. Laughable honestly. Moreover, these fake SUVs have lower boot space and lesser space inside. For ex- Honda city has more boot space than Creta, Seltos etc and more rear space but ppl prefer these fake SUVs. India's weather map is changing so rapidly with more and more extreme weather events throughout India. More hotter summer, more rains. Not to forget sunroof impacts the strength of the roof and has an effect on safety.
@@anshuman7190 you couldnt have been more right on the HVAC. the touch-based or screen integrated HVAC is literally a hazard. @@diggitycat6233 Exactly, these Indian cos in the name of being futuristic and tech driven are just sticking in cheap looking plastic buttons and panels and when they would go bad, the customers would be shafted. Agreed. The over enthusiasm towards futuristic looks is breeding one ugly car after the other. Car-makers please bring back cars in the form of the Contessa, Padmini or the old Sierra. This car doesn't appeal to me at all.
Yours is the only channel where positive review of the Hyperion engine is highlighted. All the other channels have just branded it as a mediocre engine !! Kudos to you for the comprehensive review!!
So glad to see u talk about the flaws to watch out for . Can you make a short on the changes in diesel engine . Especially on the emission side . Also , Is there a modification to the Passive SCR emission system ? Will this survive through bs7 ?
What tata needs to do is redesign this back coupe design to conventional MPV, increase wheelbase, make it 7 seater and placed in between Kia Caren & Ertiga or XL6.

I have watched all the reviews, and let me tell you EVO covered spot on. Really well presented especially the Engine part. Just a request, we need review of other engine. One more is reduce your BGM, it was annoying.
Good detailed review Ashish.....was interested in the GDi specificatiions which you covered. Will go test drive the GDi/ DCA combination to see if it is up to expectations
@@STgauss3268 😝😝😝 yeah like wrangler, thats a sure copy paste. Actually u dint got my point, In Mahindra lineup every car hv diff styling. Tata does same design in every car.
No it cant saw it day before and i wouldnt pay 23lacs for the diesel version. The only amazing part is the rear end the front is like an after thought. The space isnt the best nor is the ride compared to what you get for that price. Sure thing it looks nice but not at all worth that much for the quality engine and features. Not to mention how shitty the door handles are to open. Could have been designed in a better way.
Didn’t have enough time to do a mileage run and a day of shooting doesn’t give an accurate mileage figure as very often we leave the car idling, we’re doing launches and all sorts of driving that we wouldn’t normally do on a daily use basis
Have you ride petrol engine, it’s very noisy. I would say it’s the worst engine , comfort on the back seat is worse then why people should purchase it , Big No
To be very honest, I absolutely hate the rear end of the Curvv 😖!! The front is still ok, since it looks quite a lot like the Harrier and the Safari. Also, not impressed with the head room it offers in the second row. Wouldn't even consider buying it.
Would you pick the Tata Curvv over the Creta or Taigun? Let us know in the comments
@@evoIndia obviously I would pick creta
on the pricing and overall fit and finish Citreon Bassalt looks promising with well-tuned engine
Yeah definitely
People should go with the creta
Finally, a good petrol power from Tata ..kudoos to the engineering team
Finally a channel focusing on the engines. Thank you EVO!
We hope you enjoyed watching the review!
That in-depth review on the engine’s technical bits is why Evo India is different from others. Well done guys👍
Thank you
Them manza vibes, kudos to Tata for bringing an upmarket car segment to the Mass market.
What did you like the most about the Curvv?
Evo India is Evo India for a reason!!! Great balanced review unlike the hatemongering others are doing!!!
Appreciate your kind words :)

Rear seat could have been done with better space and comfort while compromising on boot to say 400ltrs
Exactly, that big of a boot space would mostly be underutilized throughout most of the lifetime of the car

It feels like a more grown up Nexon, not like a scaled down Harrier

Why the cars made in 2024 can't have regular round or square headlamps? What's with those squinty eyes like LED strips ?
