That little Marcie makes me long for the slow, moody baritone of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. Seriously, "Christmas Don't Be Late" sounds like Barry White singing "Can't get Enough of Your Love" by comparison.
There is no more of a noble and momentous way to leave this earth than to die of an epileptic seizure from watching jingle cats
That little Marcie could have been made a great career by voicing those Live2D vtuber characters had she lived in our time.
12:36 Play it backwards at 17rpm and you’ll find out where she buried their bodies.
That piece at the end with the montage of local places was beautiful.
Jingle Cats looks like a crazy cat lady's acid trip.
Thanks. You uplift my Christmas, every year.
Posted just a minute ago! I've never been so early.
Merry Archivemas, Benny!
BTW have you seen the works of K Gordon Murray? Truly deserving of an Oddity Archive treatment.
Just be be glad internet celebrity Rich Evans isn't here right now. His rampant cat allergies would've acted up at the sight of Jingle Cats.
What would we do without effeminate nerds?
@@Moneytane1976 I have no clue; Frankly it's an idea I'd rather not think about, considering current events.
Thanks for the history lesson Bennie!! And to think I assumed the Santa Clause special was filmed in a former porn maker's basement in an old alley next to a rather seedy pub in Hoboken New Jersey. Now I feel educated!!!
Merry Christmas benny boy! Love the music you got over the clips at the end. Kinda Floyd/Tangerine Dream esque. Here's to a better 2021!
Merry Christmas Ben and may it bring you lots of cheer and joy. :)
This is the Archive. That should be Jeer and Choy!
Merry Christmas Benny-Boy and Very Merry Christmas to Ed
2020 was full of Bum-Bum.
Merry Christmas to you Ben :) Here's to 2021
Merry Christmas Ben!
Is it wrong that I kinda dig the harmonicat ?
I loved the Harmonicat! It was the only really good, legit laugh I got out of the Jingle Cats (or Babies) video.
Barely any snow out where I live in the Fremont-Omaha area until yesterday, then it snowed like crazy. There wasn’t a ton of snow but it made the visibility very bad.
I use automatic subtitles - "While shepherds watch their frogs by night"
The cat with the harmonica made my day.
Little Marcy looks like she inspired a certain movie franchise about a murderous possessed doll.
Annabelle or M3gan? or both?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks for the palate cleanser at the end.
Just like everyone else, merry Christmas to Ben and Ed!
The first part of your Falls Park montage music gave me somewhat of an early Genesis/Steve Hackett vibe, good stuff, man.
It sounds like what I imagine "Entangled" would sound like if A Trick of the Tail was released in 1982.
Most years, I'd say Jingle Cats is the most surreal thing I'd seen all year. It can't quite compete with 2020 though.
It's early Christmas morning in Australia, and it was fab to wake up to this btw. Made my Christmas morning!
Merry Christmas Ben!
Merry Christmas, Ben!!! Great episode!!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours Benny Boy
That light display at the end looks beautiful even without snow on the ground. Also, Merry Christmas, Benny Boy.
That Christmas special on VHS...you won't see this playing on TCM...or would you?....frosty melting...you didn't make fun of that...by not mimicking the wicked witch of the west's....."I'm melting" cries.
8:49 - just what I wanted for Christmas, an eye and ear full of nightmare fuel.
Merry Christmas Ben and Ed!
The jingle cats video reminds me of that old meme Flugelhorn Feline. Or even keyboard cat.
A virtual Christmas fruitcake of D-list holiday flotsam & jetsam.
Merry Christmas, Ben! 🎄
Happy Christmas, Merry Hanukkah, have a great knew year, Ben.
I asked this already and I'll ask it again, where is my archive Netflix series!?
Merry xmas Benny boy
Is this “Der Schneemann” at 13:33? It was a German cartoon by Hans Fischerkoesen. Did Santa Claus showed it? “Frosty the Snowman” didn’t come out until 1950, it’s from 1944. It later became a Christmas special from Rankin/Bass in 1969.
15:51 is the FBI screen from Warner Home Video back in 1982.
I want more songs performed by my grandparents' doorbell!
6:14 I'm getting a James Bond vibe from this one
That last three seconds... seals the deal. lulz!
That "God Rest ye" on the Mexicali Brass album reminds me of that scene in Mr. Bean when he conducts the salvation army band and decides to jazz up the christmas music
At least ancient public domain tunes will keep you out of trouble with copyright strikes!
I had a copy of this little Marcy Christmas record back in the 80s.
14:39 Does anyone else suddenly hear an old man complaining about stuff being completely useless...?
Goodtimes ripped off that Mexican Santa Claus movie's intro spiel AND the ending?! I'm getting MST3K flashbacks hardcore this time around.
Odd, I'm NOT working ANY shifts this year -- for NEITHER Christmas Eve, NOR Christmas Day (whereas over the past few years with my current job, since 2013, I've been SO USED to working DOUBLE-shifts on 1 or BOTH of those days)! :-( (The [rotating] schedule just coincidentally worked that way, for this week.) Ah, oh well ... might as well enjoy it with a few brewskis and get BAKED with a few friends. ;-) @Ben Minnotte: here's to wishing you & yours a VERY HAPPY holiday season, and a TOTALLY TERRIFIC 2021 (I KNOW it DEFINITELY WILL BE)! ;-) ALL THE BEST, Ken :-)
P.S.> That's VERY NICE, what you did @ the last few minutes of the video! BEAUTIFUL scenery, and EXCELLENT video work!
I thought Ben was going to get swatted for a second. 😆
the little marcie album is from word who also distributed actual veggietales dvds cassettes etc from 1994 to 2006
wish you’d do more commentaries, theyre a load of fun
Little marcy sounds like those cringy anime girls
this but english dubs and or bad virtual youtuber voices
Merry Xmess. Oh oh ohh.
You got the Santa from last year’s Christmas thrifts
Season's Greetings Ben. I love cats but the Jingle Cats made my own cat scratch me and scream "turn that crap off!"
Always good when my favorite channel posts a video on Christmas to help me avoid my family
Four yeas of film school, and I am filming cats playing the harmonica for a low budget cat Christmas video. Where's the Jack Daniels?
Have to admit though. Santa is the ultimate child groomer. Merry Christmas Ben. Your videos bring to light some awesome stuff.
24:00 Jingle Cats - Now you're really *pussin'* your luck! Don't give them any lemon drink or you'll wind up with *sour pusses!*
Well unless those deer have manscaped.
And the lawnmower.
Then those balls are hedged proof.
The Horror! The Horror! The Horror! XD
Well, I tend to think of 2020 as a bit of the Darkness before the Dawn, as I believe the New 20s are gonna be so revolutionary, liberating, and free, neither party in congress will be able to do anything. Hehehehe.
Also, man, that Santa in the Goodtimes tape sounds like one of those Creepy Phone Line ads from the Early 90s...in fact he is a dead ringer for Freddy Kreuger.
BTW, that riff at 21:37 is one of the funniest Riffs I've ever heard.
And the light show at the end reminds me of my town's two light shows, both at the biggest parks in the areas. Of course I was supposed to go to one of them with a friend of mine for my Birthday (Dec. the 17th if you're curious), but they had to cancel because one of their family members had come down with a bad case of COVID-19, so she had to cancel, bit of a blue Christmas, but those lights are beautiful, and the montage music just made me tear up a little. I love Christmas Lights, light displays, etc. It just makes a dark and cold night much more magical to me.
Merry Christmas, Ben!
I could definitely see Marcy doing dream pop or David Lynch soundtracks. She has the voice akin to the Lady in the Radiator song, “In Heaven Everything is Fine,” from Eraserhead.
Don't let Olaf see the Frosty cartoon. ;)
12:07 - So we must fritter good money on a Shibata - JUST for this record!
You know, Little Marcy should do a guest appearance with Alvin and the Chipmunks and/or the Chipettes. She'd fit right in... sort of. Maybe... probably... a little. Of course, I learn she passed away in 2012.
Is that puppet to Little Marcy's right dancing along or trying to hold back from throwing a punch?
West Paterson, NJ - a.k.a. Woodland Park. I don't live that far away.
Another town too ashamed to be associated with Paterson NJ (Elmwood Park is the other one, formerly East Paterson).
Who sang the intro for this video? Props for you if its you
I did.
Have a nice Christmas, Benny Boy! Hope 2021 is a better year than this sh*tty one.
The year 2020 deserved a lump of coal the size of Mt Everest.
5:10 So when does The Dating Game show start?
WHAT?! No Cat Stevens jokes?
Too bad KELO doesn't sign off anymore. That first instrumental you played during the lights montage would be good to conclude a broadcast day to.
BTW Glenn Miller would like to have a word with you about your trombone remarks.
7:08 Marcie Tigner(assumed spelling), trombonist-turned-singer, if her singing voice as an adult was the same as that of a pre-teen child, this is *nothing* new. Kylie Minogue is now in her mid-50s yet she still sounds like a little 12-year-old, while her sister, Dannii's voice has matured naturally and she sounds like a mature adult singer, as she's supposed to be.
...but Kylie came after her, not before, so I wouldn't use her as an example for being "nothing new" ;)
@@robsku1 I used Kylie Minogue thus regardless of where she comes in line of history because she has a child-like voice even as an adult. Ironically, Kylie's sister Danii's voice matured as she grew older.
oh lordy, I can feel the contempt in every single note on that first xmas album
You guys should check out this channel called picsandportraits, he does oils round footage and sleep videos with old cozy 70's commercials and public access tv etc
17:09 Nj
Are you OK Ben, you seem even more down in the dumps than usual?
Wow, the Jingle Cats is even worse than that barking dog rendition of "Jingle Bells" from the '50s. Fortunately, the only time I have ever come across that piece of crap was on a cassette tape recorded off the air on 12/25/83.
They play it on the radio here every Christmas.
Are we sure that Little Marcie didn't just become the Vtuber Gawr Gura?
Keep the new intro
19:30 German cartoon, made in war time
Funny enough, that cartoon at 19:33 was actually made in Nazi Germany.
No more Little Marcie, please? At until next Christmas..,
Mexicali Brass *DOES NOT* predate Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass by the date of that LP, It's a 1966 reissue of a 1964 album, Herb Alpert & TJB's first single, *The Lonely Bull* was in 1962, both album and single. Two years *BEFORE* Mexicali Brass.
Yes, there was an album as well. I have an American-issue copy of the Album on the A & M label, and a British-issue copy of the single on the EMI/Stateside label. The British Single states in small print on the label, *Recording First Published 1962* and there you have it.
I said Herb Alpert's Christmas album didn't come out 'til '68.
@@OddityArchive You did not specify a Herb Alpert Xmas album, your comment was taken as a reference to early Herb Alpert & TJB albums and singles, of which "The Lonely Bull" was the first of each.
Merry Christmas Ben!
