I was there on Saturday when you broke your tip. I had my processors for my hearing and ears plugged so I didn't realize what had happened. I talked to Eric later after the demo, and he told me what had happened. The saws were loud ,but I enjoyed every moment of it. When you were pushing the saws hard I could feel it. When I saw Tinman's video of of you in the big wood, you were testing the true power of the saw. Bar in to the dogs . Stop . Hop off log . Repeat. I enjoyed you cutting up the smaller stuff too. That is where I do most of my work. Thanks again to Ripsaw crew.
I started my youtube for similar reasons. Not chainsaws. But over my 60+ years I have learned a few things, Some good some bad but I used youtube to help me figure out how to do things and thought maybe I could help someone as well. I am learning a lot from you sir. Thank you.

The 500i really changed the game. Fuel injection in general took the chainsaw world to a whole different level. I still use my 281 but man the 500 is my mule for all conditions and environments. Great content it's cool to see the 500 in so many configurations per person to there custom niche
Your comment on the rakers in dried white oak is true. I live in NC,USA and a lot of our wood is dead. dried red and white oak. It takes a sharp chain and a lot of power to get through these logs. Normally we switch chains after two tanks of fuel or you are just throwing dust instead of chips. And heaven forbid if you start bucking on a snag that was hit and killed by lightening, they get hard as glass.

i've had a stihl ms 241c forever and they discontinued it, great saw. stepped up to a 400c with a 25 inch bar cause i was tired of being bent over cutting firewood. could almost go up to 28 or even 32 even though the saw isn't rated for a 32. i think just bucking 20 inch logs will be fine. got my hand filing almost down pat now too thanks to you.
@JustinKingOffroad You're adding a lot of weight to sling around with the 400 and anything over 25 in bar. The weight of the chain wouldn't be conducive to enough speed and cutting well.
That is almost the exact stuff I am dealing with now big red and white oak but thanks to you Buckin 27 inch bar 365 husky I can manage it efficiently thanks so much for all the great tips!!!!

3:32. Running a 30 year old 16" John Deere today (yellow saw) that came stock with no kick-back brake. I thought I had bsd fuel until I twisted on the tuning screws a little. Thanks, Billy! Runs like a champ. Cut mesquite both live and dead (hard) and live oak.
I have all way's wonted to reply to some of your videos but it seems the older I get the harder it is to get the message to match what I'm thinking if that makes any sense......I have being a subscriber of yours for many years now and love everything you do..... I think the easiest way to put this I know you gave your shirt off your back to anyone in need.....You are just a genuine great guy that seems to love helping people.....Thank you for everything you do here....I have 2 younger brothers one of my brothers got a job with Davey Tree Experts out of Ottawa Ontario Canada not sure if you heard Davy they're all over the US and Canada.....I believe he's been there six and a half years to 7 & he ended up getting me a job there 5 year's ago.....What we do they're mostly and trim trees near the power lines..... right now we mostly use a bucket truck the bucket my brother uses is a 70 footer and the job we have right now is to trim City trees near Hydro so we have ropes in the trees almost everyday..... he gets all the nasty trees close to hydro and houses that no one else wants to do..... now we have also done trimming for the city of Ottawa of trees not close to hydro so we've been able to learn that trimming a little bit.....I will say I'm a slow learner but I'm getting there and I love my job..... I just wish I would get paid more I'm only making $20 Canadian an hour not enough for what we do......

Cutting dirty logs out of a tree service pile is a challenge. Many ways to get hurt if you’re not paying attention so know your saw and look ahead a few cut so you don’t find yourself in the bite. Thanks, Buckin!
Totally agree bro, Bigger/Longer is Safer!!....I rarely find myself grabbing anything below 70cc's anymore, even for backyard work. A power saw won't lie to you, it's heavy and forces you to Move at a certain pace, when you get tired, you just put her down.......a smaller saw allows you to move faster, and as fatigue sets in, so do mistakes.
In New Zealand we have a similar event. The biggest Southern Hemisphere agriculture events week called NZ National Fieldays the ultimate launch platform for cutting edge technology and innovation held in Hamilton New Zealand each June.
I'm a woodworker who uses chainsaws but not a forest worker. My everyday tools are panel saw, jointer and thickness planer etc. I've done some log milling. It's hard work and hard on the body 8f you don't know what your doing. Chainsaws are a workout just lifting and cutting. Know your tools is the golden rule. Look after them and keep them sharp. Sharpening is a skill you never stop refining. But without it your gonna burn out badly.
Just cut down and bucked up a sweetgum that was 3'3" across at the base with my Husqvarna 455 rancher with an Oregon 20in bar and chain. Wasn't a problem at all.
I have a few saws. But mostly for cleaning up the yard + I live out in the country. I actually cut wood up a different way. I have a small shop. But Buckin I love watching your art brother. Have a good one.

When rich sent me y’all’s square grind off his silvey I hit our Ky white oak and that 394 took me and 3 coondogs plum through the kerf…that sob wanted to dig so hard it was nuts..I threw my hat off and laughed my arse off I was so amazed…I called him and we had a laugh…rakers were for y’all’s wood and now you see where I come from as you blast through them big whiteys….big logs I’ll say…✌🏻buckin’

I have a gazelle exercise machine. do at least 30 to 45 minutes everyday. Not as good as cutting or splitting wood but it keeps me limber after a hard days work at age 63. Gotta stretch those muscles.
I really wish the firewood cutters would listen to the part you mentioned about getting low and the top hit something and jump. I’ve preached to plenty about long bars are safer. Not to only save your back but your further away from kickback. Was a true pleasure to meet you at Bunyan.

The 400 won’t pull the long bar in my opinion. Get yerself a 70 -80 cc

That rock maple can be some hard stuff to cut Fo sure. IF your saw/chain performs well in THAT you got it licked when going to softer wood 🪵 … too many glamour cookie cuttin vids here on utube which have ZERO real world applications once the rubba hits the road !
