Dr. Umar was the one that encouraged me to put my career on hold and homeschool all our boys.
At the time the middle school my son was attending was trying to medicate him and classify him as having ADHD. My husband and I pushed back on them and shortly thereafter removed him and his older brother from the school system and I quit my job and became a full time home school educator.
It was the best decision I ever made for them. Each of them exceeded expectations, and ultimately got accepted into all the universities they applied to.
Unfortunately, that is where the story ends as far as my support for Umar. As time went on he became more and more unconvincing about his desire to open this “school” he so eagerly talked about and I my husband and I stopped showing our support years ago.

Umar focuses on building schools for the future education and economic empowerment of Black youth, whereas Anton invests in properties and businesses in neighborhoods where non-Black residents are the majority. Umar is dedicated to using his resources to uplift our people, while Anton's efforts seem more self-serving.
In the entire hour and 14-minute video, Anton chose to focus on superficial issues. This highlights the importance of raising strong children rather than trying to repair broken men. Whether you agree with Umar or not, his commitment to the community is evident. Anton, on the other hand, seems less dedicated to the cause, catering to a small elite. Remember, as Anton often says, “if you’re the 1% he’s talking to,” you’ll be successful regardless of color. Well in this day & age we’re trying to save 100% of our children. Anton have less than 1% of any real ownership within this white man’s capitalistic society no matter what he thinks highly of his net worth

I respect both Umar and Anton, but Anton is consistently wrong and unaware on this topic. Consider which representation aligns more closely with our community's reality in the United States, where we are often at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder.
I've always thought Umar and Anton should collaborate. Both represent our interests, but in different ways. Umar focuses on uplifting our entire community economically and educationally. In contrast, Anton promotes a perspective based on his financial success, suggesting that anyone can achieve the same, but without addressing the specific challenges we the “brown people” actually have faced due to systemic racism and still do when it comes to us actually rising on a global level.

Yall been hating on umar since day one. Yall said he wouldn't get a school and he got the school. All done from donation money. Funny the ones who have so much to say haven't donated a dime. I have personally been to the school and was shocked that so much was done from a black man with no government funding. Strictly off donations. It's hard to get large donations when you speak the way he speaks and believe in what he believes in...
It’s almost impossible to run a school from just donations. Umar is right in principle in that he wants no dealings with the government, but in fiscal reality, it’s just too much of an undertaking. He would have to be a billionaire to comfortably operate that school. If he was a millionaire it wouldn’t be close to enough.
