    Hello,
Good topic. I have worked in construction my whole life. We are physical beings and have senses. The intellect is an overemphasized part of us. Gathering meaning through the senses by using our bodies deepens the experience of our life. Using our bodies physically, some days a lot and meeting clear challenges (move that pile of lumber) allows, for me, better sleep, enjoyable eating and I am calmer and happier. Society needs people to build and fix stuff too. Get your degree if you must, then get a trade and become a good craftsmen, a warrior poet even!

Not sure if love the added closed captions. Any way this could be added to the UA-cam system so it can be toggled on and off?

After reading your book, Deep Work.
I am highly influenced by you and your way of seeing the world. Less unnecessary interactions definitely give a peaceful life. Whenever I feel distracted, I simply open up that book, and that's the best use of time indeed.
I have also subscribed to your mails.
Thank you Cal Sir for writing such great books and doing these podcasts on youtube. You already know how valuable your work is for the society which is attention based.

I can’t get Monty Python out of my head now: “I’m a lumberjack and I’m okay, I sleep all night and I work all day” 😅

Makes me think of tree planting in Canada. Most people who do this job have a love and hate relationship with it (including me!) It is strenuous and uncomfortable in many ways, but you are outside and probably just too exhausted to be stressed anyways. People who love this job though, really love it. Personally, I don't think I'm saving the environment or anything when I do this job, as it's part of the forestry industry, so I don't get a bigger meaning out of it. I enjoy the physical and mental challenge and output, the job is clear and I am mostly alone (but my dog can come along!)

Biggest difference between these jobs are the kinds of people that gravitate towards them and the other people/social system you work in.

Not sure on the captions, ended up zooming in on my phone to crop them, but then the side list is cut off.
Maybe upload an unlisted caption-less video that’s linked in the description? Or use UA-cam system for CC toggling on and off (although all that said the font and colour is really nice).

Hi, I love your podcasts… This one seems to have mandatory captions right on your screen… As opposed to my choice of the option to have captions or not on UA-cam… I find the words distracting… I normally enjoy looking at you guys on the screen… But not with the white words popping along. Just my subjective perspective. Keep up the great work!

for you millenials out there. Monty Python, Lumberjack Song:
    I'm a lumberjack
    And I'm OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
    I cut down trees
    I skip and jump
I like to press wild flowers
I put on women's' clothing and hang around in bars!

So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts.
    English - Tafsir ibn kathir
    أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الاَْرْضِ
Have they not traveled through the land,
means, have they not traveled in the physical sense and also used their minds to ponder!
That is sufficient, as Ibn Abi Ad-Dunya said in his book At-Tafakkur wal-Itibar,
"Some of the wise people said,
Give life to your heart with lessons,
    illuminate it with thought,
    kill it with asceticism,
    strengthen it with certain faith,
    remind it of its mortality,
make it aware of the calamities of this world,
warn it of the disasters that life may bring,
show it how things may suddenly change with the passing of days,
tell it the stories of the people of the past, and
remind it what happened to those who came before."'
Walk through their ruins, see what they did and what became of them, meaning, look at the punishments and divine wrath that struck the nations of the past who belied,

    فَتَكُونَ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ يَعْقِلُونَ بِهَا أَوْ اذَانٌ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا
and have they hearts wherewith to understand and ears wherewith to hear,
meaning, let them learn a lesson from that.

    فَإِنَّهَا لَاإ تَعْمَى الاْإَبْصَارُ وَلَكِن تَعْمَى الْقُلُوبُ الَّتِي فِي الصُّدُورِ

Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that grow blind.
means, the blind person is not the one whose eyes cannot see, but rather the one who has no insight. Even if the physical eyes are sound, they still cannot learn the lesson
