  • The Mandelbulb 3D fractal in all its glory! Presented in stunning 8k!
    Still a few glitches, I'm not really sure how I am going to resolve that yet. Otherwise, I think the quality is pretty awesome. You can really see some of the detail in this one as simple lighting came out really nice. I said I wasn't going to make another 8k one, but I'm simply getting better results. It seems rendering in 8k with lower samples, yields a better and smoother 4k image.

    Imagine something this massive and complex, floating somewhere in the darkness of space. Imagine flying a ship into a wormhole, and then you're greeted with this thing. Fully lit by an unseen star.

    Congratulations on this magnificent beauty!
    It's (too) rare, on your channel, to view videos of fractals where the viewer walks to the right, to the left, above, inside, below, etc..
    This creates an interesting and attractive diversity for us, the spectators.
    So it's much more captivating than all the fractal videos based solely on ZOOM effects, which becomes very boring.
    I hope you understand what I mean.
    Take inspiration from Julius Horsthuis who knows how to explore fractals, not just with a zoom effect...!
    Thank you and again with my congratulations. Pierrot

    I use Mandlebulb3d to create similar animations that take Weeks to render at this quality, could you give some information of what aspect of blender is used to create these within as I have never seen it done inside blender directly like this. Absolutely stunning quality. Cheers pal. Ps I have a 5950x and hopefully a reasonable graphics card coming soon so would love to try using blender to do this.

    How do you import such large objects into blender? is it procedural? what method are you using to contain such a large and highly detailed objects? Mandelbulber V2? I would like to try this on my new system. Also I need to figure out how to properly shade them.

    This is just the very simple complex code iterated over and over (plus lighting and rendering in 3D), right? No additional "artistic" modifications, right? Does this fractal contain "smooth" surfaces in reality too (like near those vertical slots), or does it look smooth just because of limited computational depth?

  • @jimmerhardy
    @jimmerhardy 2 роки тому +2

    It must be proprietary, but could you show an edited version of code used to create this video or at least how many lines of code it took? The result is utterly incredible.

    • @MathsTown
      @MathsTown  2 роки тому +3

      Actually my code is very minimal, just the formula for the Mandelbulb. I used Octane Renderer with Blender as the host. Octane has a feature called Vectron which is good for fractals. The renderer does all the heavy lifting.

    i dont know if its the field of view or zoom or the general stretchedout nature of the bulb but this video feels really awful to watch to me, despite how beautiful the visuals on the screen are.

    • @MathsTown
      @MathsTown  2 роки тому

      Interesting comment, if you, or anyone else, could help me understand I would be interested to improve the production. I can't change the shape of the bulb, it is what it is, unless I use another fractal. However, there are some conceptual difficulties with the camera when creating these. Firstly, details inside the bulb are much much smaller than when we start, so the speed of the camera needs to change. A real camera would also have a depth of field blur. Also, the camera motion also needs to change speed when things get smaller. So perhaps it just feels unnatural somehow. Regarding FOV, I use a "50mm" camera which should have a natural perspective, although I might try something wider in another video.
